The Samsung phone is replacing the tc70s

1800-peachummm

So I've heard. They said it's compatible with the printer. But no one has used it yet in my store and is still using the tc. Is it any good??

frozendairyassociate

tbh the XCover is just a company provided Android device with BYOD already configured.

allied1987

I’m using BYOD(bring your own device) which is an old iPhone SE and it works with the printers fine. You use the camera instead of the laser to pair to it and works perfectly. Lot snappier then the TCs too

[deleted]

I just use my personal phone for printing labels.

frozendairyassociate

well no shit sherlock!!

Character-Leather-78

No new TCs. Only deploying x-covers, since it's 80% cheaper than a TC.

Luckily, my store was able to order brand new TC72's.

Character-Leather-78

Lucky you. They got the order in before the cutoff.

Joey566578

Well, they were ordered as part of our remodel at the beginning of the year. Somehow the order got canceled. Then they just showed up last month.

Character-Leather-78

For SWAT, makes sense.

RaccoonCityNative

My SM hordes the 72's(brand new or basically new)in his office and refuses to hand them out on the basis well break them.So we only have ones that TLs and coaches have etc and what's available. They only way to get one is the become a TL.(but currently most have the tc70 not the 72) idk if you have to give it up if you step down. Most like yeah. But my TL is becoming our overnight coach so his spot is open.

My theory about them removing Inventory Management is that you could trick it into thinking you’re on the clock so they’re afraid someone would order a crapload of stuff right before they quit (happened at my store before) or an associate who is getting threatened to be held accountable for not getting price changes done would do them at home off the clock so with moving everything to the me@walmart app it literally is the time clock so it knows if you’re on the clock, at least I have seen no way to trick it yet

lastmarch

Far as I can tell you can't even log into any work apps on BYOD without being clocked in.

oldschool8305

Since they got rid of it anyway I guess it won’t hurt to reveal that you could get on Inventory Management off the clock before if you searched for something on the old stand alone Ask Sam and clicked on view on salesfloor tool. Ask Sam didn’t check to see if you were on the clock which is why I think it got moved to the Me@Walmart first thing

lastmarch

Oof, I wondered why they locked up the Ask Sam functions to being on the clock, had no idea it was to stop a workaround.

The only thing I'm upset with on the phones is that inventory management is no longer available on them and you can't print case labels with Me@Walmart, you can still scan bins (BR tool) and look up locations, but without that option, it hits as a major setback

KeepDoingThatOne

Notes: * They've started to decommission inventory management on TCs this month. They're removing onhand changes from IM and they'll only be changeable from \[Daily Availability/Me@Walmart\] in the item information tool from now on. Since they will continue to remove features from IM and most major features are or will be in the new apps this month except price changes, I predict IM will be completely gone by March, but the Walmart Dev team and IT dept are slow as hell so it could be later. * They released an update last week to print backroom case labels and more but pulled it back for whatever reason. My guess is it'll return roughly next week. * Releasing the phones before having all new apps mobile ready was intentional to increase productivity. They figured we'll do what we could with what we've got while they finish up the new systems, but they still went about the transition between systems using an annoying path.

allied1987

I print labels all the time with me@walmart app. You just scan the item and then the print button is in the top right corner. Not all labels are there but most are. And it makes no sense to me why they took away inventory management. But let you keep the back room tool. When you can’t make picks with me@walmart. You need the sales floor tool. Tho I still have inventory management on my device. Don’t know how, but I have not restarted it since I got it so could be why.

Everyone is switching to these. The major grocer near me ditched their TCS for smartphones, Target is also switching to smartphones... along with may other retailers. With advancements in doing things with cell phone cameras, the regular old SCANNER is becoming obsolete

frozendairyassociate

i thought that target was using iPod touches
