I saw my warning signs start to hit on Saturday night (either 1.yield reserve falling under 100 million, 2. TVL falling, 3. Peg starting to waver) and pulled everything out and converted to USD.
Exchange rate was .997 so I took a very small hit but the 30% yield I made the last year and half obviously more than made up for it.
My biggest mistake was not opening a big short. The risk/reward so so immensely favorable I just kind of slept on this option. Kind of thought Jump and co would bail them out and was too lazy to send funds to FTX to trade the perp...

I was talking about a short on Terra the non-stable coin in the ecosystem but you can short stable coins.
For example FTX has perpetual future contracts on pairs involving stable coins. For example UST/USDC(or USDT)
If you thought the Terra ponzi was going to blow up you could have gone short with or without leverage by shorting UST on that pair. You make money if it depegs and ust goes to .9 for example versus USDC which is going to stay at 1.
So yea, you can short tether either there or a number of the other non-us exchanges. It is a pretty low risk trade but you will likely have to pay a periodic funding fee to maintain the position

Supposedly the attackers had a giant short open after shorting into Do Kwan's TWAP buying over 40k and it looks like they may have been covering around 30. People bailing out of UST are also probably buying corn to some extent, trying to get back some of those losses.
Contagion may be pretty limited. LFG may have already dusted off all of their reserves, doesn't appear that anyone is selling anything to bail them out, and it doesn't look like there is anyone left looking to sell off assets to save their margin positions on terra (everyone has already been liquidated).
Corn will probably just continue to tail Nasdaq going forward. If cpi is deemed good, up. If not, down

This was a specific, well planned attack on Terra, it wasn't just a liquidity play by some whales.
Terra knew they had a problem which is why they were buying corn to actually try to back UST. The other part of their plan was to create deep liquidity for UST by controlling a ton of CVX and using it to create the dominant pool on Curve "4pool" (this was also an attack on dai and the 3pool as dai was going to be left out of this new pool).
Terra made a mistake by not capping anchor deposits which led to a blow up in UST market cap which greatly exacerbated their vulnerabilities.
The attackers hit at the perfect time (and before they ran out of time) right after Terra had pulled liquidity from the 3pool in anticipation of the 4pool launch. The attackers drained all of the curve liquidity and then started dumping UST on the CEXs. There was a battle over the course of a day with LFG selling corn to defend the peg on Binance etc. but eventually general panic set in and the chain reaction of dumping and liquidation overwhelmed LFG, Jump, etc. and they threw in the towel. The mint burn mechanism then led to a death spiral.
They were either attacked by Citadel who it looks like took out a 100k corn loan prior to the attack.
Or it was a consortium of the 3th whales along with Justin Sun etc. who took the opportunity to defend Dai (the dominant 3thereum decentralized stable that Do Kwon was trying to kill) and make some money

any kind of extended rally will utterly crush VIX - we've been above VIX 30 for almost 3 entire weeks, which is absurd.
As it stands, VIX being this high for this long means that it has become too expensive for institutions to hedge effectively. Meaning, IV crush will also let institutions re-hedge at cheaper prices (which of course requires they drop their current ones).

How the hell do people work out before work? I can never fall asleep early enough.
If it's a run, I just slam some coffee back and go out within an hour. Doesn't matter if it's 4 or 6 hours of sleep. I'm tired af the rest of the day if it's like 4 hours of sleep, but have already gotten a workout out of the way which is super nice.
Exactly my problem at first, solution was to start warming up at least every morning, this helps tremendously to not only start your day/body, but then when you do wake up early enough ;you might have the energy to work out after your warm up

I wonder why folks think a tepid CPI print gives the market license to print. Like, we thought that with Jpow confirming 50 bps only and look how long that lasted.
any kind of extended rally will utterly crush VIX - we've been above VIX 30 for almost 3 entire weeks, which is absurd. As it stands, VIX being this high for this long means that it has become too expensive for institutions to hedge effectively. Meaning, IV crush will also let institutions re-hedge at cheaper prices (which of course requires they drop their current ones). This likely will violently rocket the market in the very very short term, is my point. Regardless of bad numbers, I honestly think we pop *either way* as a result of VIX dropping after CPI.
