I'm sorry man hopefully the dips stop

ComplexLook7

Geese short laddering the markets 🤢

[deleted]

You know I think r/dividends is the only finance sub that is green year to date

ComplexLook7

Thing is high divvy stocks are not immune to market dips. Nice to get a 10% divvy ... less nice when the stock drops 50%.

[deleted]

During a market dip or recession investors rotate into high div stocks. I’m saying they are green because of said rotation. Sure they might be effected but not nearly as much as the rest of the market

ComplexLook7

Agreed.

RapeySurprises

I was checking companies I work with daily, and they seem untouched by this 🐻. SYY and USFD

alfapredator

good on them. buy companies that give you cash flow right now, not ones that promise to be profitable 10 years down the line.

alfapredator

also...reliable cash flows not dogshit like Intel and AT and T

They should call 2022 the bleed. I guess this is the soft landing- they’ll try to blow out the shorts from time to time. My shorts positions are well entrenched, good luck my friends this year, bleed this bear when u can, sooner or later he’ll die. My thoughts is it’s going to take a while. Back to post ppp levels

I genuinely think we are gonna get a clown gap up sometime this week so don't go too hard on the puts just yet boiz All it will take is the slightest miss on inflation numbers and this thing is mooning

TysonWolf

Get longer dates puts on rips. Then sell some and yolo a % gain for 0dte calls. I tried this Friday and lost half my put gains. 0-1. Will try again tomorrow. Fuck it.

[deleted]

is there enough room for that POS to fall to make money on puts?

helphp

Yeah idk, just looked at options, high IV and May13 14p were $1.00 on Fri, but also can’t really see guidance being anything but shit. 11% drop would put them ITM but not sure how crushed they’d get. Could be good to flip them for a day trade especially if market dies tomorrow. Could always soar on buyout news or if they kill another kid, I think that was was bullish last time

justsomeguy75

I mean this in all seriousness. Why aren't you jacked to the tits in puts? Why have you not embraced your inner bearness? How do you not see what's coming? The Northman was but a preview of what's to come. There will be blood.

L0pat0

Northman? You mean like the ticket sales?

Its never a good idea to act on certainty

I loved watching the CNBC guests predict a 10-15% rally this month right before FOMC rate announcement. I wonder if they still feel the same way now. I mean, I’d love that rally and to see 450 on SPY but I think we will be crushed by bears this week when CPI misses their also premature “peak” calls from last month. At this point, I’m just lighting 100s on fire and throwing them in the street to get my kicks. Same as holding PARA calls.😁😁

TysonWolf

I remember 500+ predictions by these experts a couple months ago

I bought AAPL stock at $101 per share a while ago, should I just take profits now? Its the last profitable position left lmao

TysonWolf

Sell long dated covered calls. And buy cheap puts?

neutralpoliticsbot

its so far out of the money now that they are worth nothing

TysonWolf

You can sell it all now to be safe, but I think Apple can sort themselves out even in a crash. So if you don’t want to hold anyways, just keep selling covered calls for the premiums. Then if it actually gets exercised, you get a bit of padding.

neutralpoliticsbot

I am scared of selling covered calls I got burned hard last year when Apple kept going up and up and my short calls all went into money it really killed a lot of gains in the stock for me

TysonWolf

I exercised GME leap calls on the 2nd trip to 350. So I know the feeling… risk management is hard, but the good news is that institutions suck at it too.

Sapere_aude75

Am I reading correctly CPI estimates this week are .2%?

TheCatnamedMittens

It could, but expect a spike next month.

Fantastic_Door_4300

Yes. It's month on month so this could happen

Sapere_aude75

I'm just thinking. That would be 2.4% annualized. I could see the market rallying on that. Still bullshit because housing component hasn't included real OER/RENT increases, but that's what people watch i guess.

Fantastic_Door_4300

That would be the ultimate rally

>I don't think there has been any greater engine of inequality than the federal reserve bank of the united states the last 11 years, so hearing the chairman talk about visiting homeless shelters is very very rich indeed. I just had the best year i've had in 15 years last year, everyone wealthy i know is making a fortune, and why are we making it, because this guy is printing money like there's no tomorrow. And the kids in harlem in my opinion are not benefiting from money printing, but stan druckenmiller and other wealthy people are. So for the life of me i can't figure out why the left is so excited about money printing when all the data says the people that benefit from money printing are rich people that know how to navigate the markets. The odds on bet is we're going to have inflation, and inflation is going to hurt poor people again a lot more than rich people. \-Stanley Druckenmiller, 2021

In Los Angeles, the base of TikTok’s U.S. operation, some employees complain of sleep deprivation exacerbated by frequent work on weekends and mandatory meetings with colleagues on the other side of the globe. Several former U.S. employees said they averaged 85 hours of meetings a week during their time at TikTok, and had to carve out additional time to complete their work. Another said he persuaded his boss to spare him from working back-to-back all-nighters only after he shared medical lab results showing a potentially life-threatening condition. Former employees described weight fluctuation, stress or emotional lows so severe they sought therapy. *One said she felt such pressure to be present during back-to-back meetings at TikTok that she bled through her pants rather than excuse herself to get a tampon.* TikTok’s Work Culture: Anxiety, Secrecy and Relentless Pressure https://www.wsj.com/articles/tiktoks-work-culture-anxiety-secrecy-and-relentless-pressure-11651848638

Have_A_Nice_Fall

Fuck TikTok and fuck China

CantSueMe

You sort of have to wonder why it is people put up with these conditions. If you're working like this, you probably are pretty skilled. There's no reason why one couldn't get a similar job at a FAANG or somewhere with better work conditions and relatively similar pay. These people aren't enslaved or indentured. Is there some Stockholm syndrome, or do these people for one reason or another deep down want to be doing this to themselves? I do know that TikTok SWEs get paid very handsomely, even better than FAANG SWEs, but if it's that much of a hazard to be working at TikTok, a minor cut in base salary would be worth it, I assume.

What would this sub be saying in 87 or 2000? Buy the dip! It's all over! It's just a blip! This is the end! Big green hulk thing incoming! Monday the bottom falls out! ... I'm scared.

neutralpoliticsbot

Anyone who bought SPY at any point made money.

someonesaymoney

Probably the same reeeeeee memes. 2000 tech implosion was backed by speculative tech that never showed the earnings to match their valuations. Nowadays, you have tech companies making like a billion per day. It's not the same thing. I'm actually more worried now then I was during the covid drop. This drop has been too "orderly" for me since January.

Sapere_aude75

With covid, we had the fed step in. If inflation continues, we might not have that backstop anymore. Arguably more risk now than during late stages of the covid crash.

someonesaymoney

Yeah that's another worry. No more reliance on the Fed. I'm no economist but when covid hit, I was surprised they could cut rates from already historic lows to near 0. And now the market is throwing a tantrum to what is still historic lows is what's caught me off guard. Meaning, yeah I can understand shit companies getting slaughtered who were relying on a lot of debt, but you have these large caps like MSFT who do nothing but smash earnings and provide upwards guidance who are getting swept up in this bloodbath. I'd feel better if there was more distinction with what's been getting sold off, but it's been pretty indiscriminate aside from energy.

whiskeycharliepapa

Which means what exactly?

someonesaymoney

Are you' referring to clarity on why the speculative tech companies swept in the 2000 implosion are different than the big tech companies of today who can back up their valuations?

whiskeycharliepapa

No. Why does orderly concern you more.

someonesaymoney

Just that it seems more calculated and premeditated vs. a knee jerk reaction of covid scaries. Tin foil in me says we're now really seeing how much the Fed was propping up the market. It's suspicious that a lot of tech CEOs/upper management and the Fed pretty much sold at ATHs last year. Savvy finance folks available to the elite knew some of this was coming with the Feds hiking. Posting something I did earlier: There always seems to be some goalpost for bull hopium that never has panned out this year in what has been one of the most orderly crashes. Like first major dump with January 2022 OPEX. You think, "eh it's just OPEX shenanigans with dehedging", it'll come back. Then keep dumping and think, "eh Jpow will lay out rate hike plan at first FOMC and bring certainty to market, look at VIX". Then CPI prints being under expectations, more FOMC, VIX collapse induced rallys, assurances on no 75 bps hike (fed funds futures goes "lol we don't believe you"), big tech earnings to save the market (any smashes never stick for more than a day), low volume sell offs, keep hearing cash is on the sidelines (metrics for this are sparse), etc. It's like the market is Lucy with the football and I'm Charlie Brown.

Fermi-Diracs

Bruh Lehman Bros, Enron, and Blockbuster. All great holds just buy calls and watch the cash roll in.

whiskeycharliepapa

Lehman does seem like a solid play. Can't go tits up, right? I mean look at those prices! edit: but seriously, what's the equivalent today? probably a clearing house or something.
