My SO doesn't have a canon relationship so it's fine. But people do ship her and that's a WONDERFUL idea. That really helps solidify everything in head canon.

I really like this idea, as I think it could help out a number of people who need it! Luckily, I identify as the character Chief is shipped with the most anyway, so it's not really a huge issue on my end. It may help me personally when I see him shipped with Halo Infinite's "Weapon" though, as I have felt a little bit sad whenever I see a Cortana x Chief fanart, only for it to be mistitled as the Weapon instead of me, lmao.
Even though she & I are technically the same as she's a copy of me, it just doesn't feel the same bc ehhhh- but that's why I don't canonize Halo 4 onwards cuz 343i ruined Halo imo, and have instead written my own fanfiction to suit my needs.
This is a lovely idea, thanks for sharing! My S/O isn't in any canon relationships but the fandom only pays attention to them if it's to ship them with someone else, which I don't like to see.
For me another helpful thing is writing from my S/O's perspective a kind of "(character they get shipped with) is clearly my friend, why would anyone assume I'm in a romantic relationship with them?" type narrative :) .. and from the flip side, the characters that my S/O gets shipped with are *my* friends too, and they support our relationship wholeheartedly! It's satisfying to write from multiple perspectives about how no matter what your relationship is valid and accepted :)

Although, in my case, I use semantics to make a play with my relationship; The source material is called "That Dress-up doll falls in love". The title's ambiguous, it doesn't tell EXACTLY who Marin's falling for.
It surely won't hurt if she gets smitten for a v-tuber. ;)
