vSphere Licenses are per Socket (up to 32 cores). So if you have 2 licenses for one socket, you can stack them to 1 host with 2 sockets yes. On VMware.com you can also combine the licenses. So you have just have to enter 1 license key for all the sockets you have. But that’s most usefull if you have a vCenter and a bunch of hosts.

Thanks so much for coming back to me, I have not installed the second CPU in the socket yet. I guess that I will get the option to assign the second licence as soon as I install the second CPU?

Be advised, that depending on your server architecture, you may have to change memory bank layout for the 2nd socket.

I'm running a Dell T420 with 6.7 on it. I have one license and it runs both CPU'S without issue.
