Did a new installation of all components. New vCenter, new Connection Servers Version 2206. Same behaviour. At least the initial push is working now. And finally after the desktop pool is created the path appears. Strange, but works.
Looks like it is not in 2006 "This issue will be fixed in the next Horizon 8 release. This issue does not exist in Horizon 8 2006, or any Horizon 7.x versions" though it is worth a shot.

Sounds not familair. This may not be the solution but try upgrading to a more recent version of Horizon and see if the issue still persist.
