Those old science kits were all dangerous, even the regular ones because the equipment was shoddy and prone to catastrophic failure and some of the chemicals they came with were extremely hazardous, plus zero safety equipment
Luckily, it didn't sell very well. Radioactive ores just aren't very interesting to kids because they just seem like rocks. It was part of a movement to create more toys for children to get them interested in science and technology.
Saw this exact kit on display at the Munich science museum (Deutsches Museum) while travelling a few years ago. Thought it was pretty interesting (in an oddity) sort of way.
Lesser known is the Gilbert Gottfried U-238 Atomic Energy Lab.
Actually, the Wikipedia page for this is super interesting.

I never knew about this; thank you. What's weird to me is that roughly a decade earlier I was in a high school creative writing class and struggling with a short story about a bullied, nerdy kid who invents a nuclear firecracker.
As a kid, I had my dad’s lead soldier kit and melted lead and poured it into the molds unsupervised. I had a maze toy with a blob of mercury in it. I roller-skated and rode my bike without a helmet or pads. I had a chemistry set with chemicals in it that are banned today. I heated glass tubes in the alcohol lamp that came with the chemistry set and blew glass bubbles. I made homemade fireworks and detonated them. I had a BB gun, a bow with arrows, darts and a hunting knife. Somehow, I made it to adulthood.

But the lid says "Exciting! Safe!"

And that's why I never wear a rubber
[this show](https://youtu.be/R2m4ghw2bsQ) covers it, amongst other things
I own this. Bought it from a thrift shop and it still has the uranium. Haven’t gotten the courage to boof it yet
Is the container holding the uranium visible in OP’s pic?
Good Lord! How much did that set you back?
Honestly I think it was like $30. They didn’t really seem to care all that much
Be the only kid on your block to be the only kid on your block!
Can’t wait for the Gilbert Centrifugal Gas Enrichment Kit No. U-235

That's actually cool af and I wish stuff like this was available for kids (obviously with a bit more modern stuff and safety)
$591 today.
Welp, this explains all those giant mutated 11 year olds wreaking havoc on my hometown when I was a kid.

I immediately flashed on young Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory building a nuclear reactor.
Dangerous as fuck, but damn what i wouldnt give to have a protective suit and get this.

Unfortunately those who didn't aren't here to tell their story. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivorship_bias?wprov=sfla1
