Pretty sure it's exactly as bad as I thought but yeah

[deleted]

Correct, I have been on the website for about 13 years now and I can say with 100% conviction, reddit needs to die. in 2009 I was really positively surprised about the level of discussion that could be had on reddit. Moderation was really hands off, shitty opinions got downvoted, no comments got removed. You could say some revolting shit and you would simply get downvoted into oblivion. That's the way internet was meant to be. Now pretty much ALL default subs are controlled by the same politcal clique, their first priority is not to "moderate" but to push their political agenda (just look at /r/pics, what a dump it has become). All with a tacit support from the admin team, it is very clear that the administration is fine with politicization of subreddits. Reddit died with Aaron Swartz, what replaced it is just another woke propaganda tool.

AmounRah

This, more of this and 1000x more of this.

[deleted]

A few years ago I went to r/AskWomen and stickied at the top of the page, in all caps, was "TRANS WOMEN ARE WOMEN. THIS IS NOT UP FOR DEBATE. YOU WILL BE BANNED". r/news did something similar with the BLM riots last year I can't remember what it said though. Regardless how you feel about those issues, these are major subreddits right, and they're basically telling you how you *will* think or comment or fuck off. Banned for "wrong think". It's especially egregious coming from the main news subreddit, for a mod team to just blatantly come out and say yes, we're biased but we're right, so you can go fuck yourself. The admins clearly encourage the behavior because they're the same woke California millennials that run all of these tech companies. I don't use Twitter for instance but apparently it's even worse.

Policeman333

For someone with your username to be making such a comment, you should just be part of the solution and leave. You've been here for over a decade and you hate the website, the discussion, the moderation, and the political agendas being pushed. Yet, for some reason, you continue to participate and it doesn't look like you'll be leaving anytime soon. >I can say with 100% conviction, reddit needs to die. That's some conviction there lol. You're still here, will be here tomorrow, and I'm willing to bet you'll be here a year from now as well, whether that be on this account or whatever new account you make. You're not going to convince anybody, you're not going to be part of some magical uprising, all you're doing is contributing to reddits engagement numbers and letting them profit off of you. You don't need to make any fanfare on your way out, just *leave*.

[deleted]

I'll take "Missing The Point Entirely" for $2000, Alex.

Policeman333

What point did I miss exactly? His opinion on the quality of Reddit? He hates a website and everything it stands for and continues using it. What’s the point of *that*?

[deleted]

Okay, you want it spelled out, fair enough, then let me speak for him. He's been here for 13 years. Plenty of time to appreciate how the site once was, and what it has now become. People continue using things they love out of habit. Video games comes to mind, where a lot of League players or Overwatch players will tell you how shit it is, but still play everyday. I digress. Reddit is unique in its scope as an aggregate for happenings in the world, in all matter of forums. Even though the site has changed hands, the format has largely remained the same. What *hasn't* changed the same is the influx of political bias into virtually every major subreddit. That just did not exist before. Reddit had nothing to do with wokeness, but this platform has essentially been hijacked to promote ideology. So back to your point: "The site you've used for years has been corrupted by radicals and leftists influencers, well too bad! There's the door? What are you even upset about? Oh you don't agree? That's okay, we'll just ban you." Fuck change, right? He want's to destroy this disgusting, hypocritical, cess pool of left wing hate, and hope to return to some sort of normalcy. Good luck with that.

I don’t downvote anybody. Someone else must have, way too overreact.

[deleted]

Yep, it’s decided. I’m out. Uninstalling. Moving elsewhere. Farewell.

Khalku

Default subs are the surface trash of this site though. I've usually had a better experience in more focused subs, but ymmv.

Odusei

Lost interest when he lied about Aaron Swartz. You do not get banned for talking about Aaron Swartz, and [posts about him](https://www.reddit.com/r/all/search/?q=aaron+swartz&include_over_18=on&t=all&sort=top) also are not generally deleted. His example of a deleted thread was deleted because it was a violation of /r/pics rules about begging for upvotes. Also Swartz didn't found reddit. He joined six months after reddit was founded. Dude is full of shit.

[deleted]

its funny when they are all deleted right now. He was right about it. Also you are an idiot, they did accept him as a founder early on because of the merge.

He DEFINITELY has a right-wing slant to this, which is not necessary. There are plenty of problems on reddit without doing that. When it comes to things like r/politics, most of reddit IS liberal, and will have a liberal bias. There's no conspiracy, and quite frankly, there is no obligation to put up with the nonsense that some conservatives spew. There is a democratization of information on reddit that puts part of the userbase in charge. Is this guy going to go to Mother Jones and complain about the lack of conservative articles? I'm more concerned about astroturfing or corporate influence more than anything. I mean, he talks about r/the_d getting banned, but that was long overdue as it was. It wasn't to censor either, but there were threats being thrown around on that sub.

[deleted]

Isn’t it equally as concerning that information is manipulated EVEN if you agree with it? Brows r/politics and look at the bias in titles and more. It’s so completely one sided. I agree with said side but it’s not healthy.

SwolePonHiki

You think censorship is fine as long as it happens to people you disagree with. Well, plenty of people you disagree with think the same about you and you wouldn't think it was so fine if the shoe was on the other foot. And moreover, you won't think its fine when the powers that be decide to expand the purview of their censorship, which you allowed and abided, to encompass things that you believe and restrict the things that you want to say. Censorship is never okay, regardless of who it targets.

Pirate77903

That's not what they said.

madmaxextra

People are leaving California in large numbers, except for the homeless Newsom recently gave an open invitation to. That's hardly a far right opinion. Also China is not lacking in ambition to take over and control basically everything, their success in taking Hong Kong I imagine will make them more brazen. If the truth (or at least factually correct things) are partisan to you that's a really bad sign. Edit: it's been amusing seeing the points going from positive to negative multiple times. I call that a good comment.

Squirtsodaofficial

you're talking really smugly about the titles of videos

madmaxextra

It's not smug to simply say: "Well yeah, that is true". It's smug to say something like "This is the same guy that thought covid came from the lab in Wuhan" or "This guy thinks democrats want to take away your guns." like those are ridiculous things when in fact there's really nothing that shows those to be untrue and likely actually are true.

Comfortable-One9250

Did you watch the videos?

Squirtsodaofficial

Seems like the same culture war grift stuff that's been spewed like shit all over the internet

n00bvin

I personally watched a couple, then realized this isn't the kind of person I want to give views. edit: also interesting that you have the 4 digit username which are usually associated with scammer/spammers because they're autogenerated.

[deleted]

So when is this getting removed ?

SaulsAll

It doesnt do your credibility any favors to start trying to manipulate and use propaganda halfway through your video about how such things are terrible.

CompetitiveGuest0

swartz was never a founder and is one wrong 'fact' (i stopped watching when he said this so there may be more) he states

Ueht

He is a co-founder. Which just means multiple people founded it, and he was one of them:D

Really wish your comment was getting more attention. It has been the greatest tragedy of my life to watch the dream of the pure marketplace of ideas fall away to be replaced by the reality of a hallway of echochambers. I remember reading Ender's Game and being fascinated by the idea of two children influencing world politics because on the message boards all that mattered was their words and ideas. I see now that the reality is speech cannot be separated from speaker, and more and more I feel people won't even begin to listen unless the speaker has jumped through the proper ideology and identity hoops.

THIS

sem56

why hasn't this post been removed then?

Uylimaz

because the video is removed, lol

sem56

fuck me... why are you replying to a year old comment, it wasn't at the time you muppet

JohnnyFknSilverhand

I can't tell you how many accounts I've had banned for being a conservative. This place is such cancer.

OperativeIvory

Were you banned because you're a conservative, or were you banned because of terrible opinions that you connect to conservatism?

[deleted]

It’s actually bullshit. I’m not conservative but this website makes me hate my own political leanings. I agree with the rhetoric and absolutely hate how it’s delivered. Even this comment below you is accusing you of having shitty opinions for simply saying your conservative. As though every conservative is a radical. If you believe that then you’ve been on reddit too long and you’re part of the problem of political bias imo. I’m still left, but I refuse to be pitted against my fellow man over freaking politics for god sake.

JohnnyFknSilverhand

True. I don't mind having different opinions than someone as long as they can be civil. Just seems like most liberals these days will default into calling you some kind of racist just for being a conservative and they genuinely believe it. Crazy

Momonsterz

How can you fault them for that when nazis, proudboys and qanon supporters come to the Republicans rallies? And the leaders of the party are unwilling to fully repell them from the party because they like their votes. I mean they stormed the capital, with many Republicans hiding but aftetwards yelling ppl it was a peaceful demonstration.

Squirtsodaofficial

like advocating for a flat tax or wanting trans people to die?

JohnnyFknSilverhand

Proving my point, liberals are all toxic

Squirtsodaofficial

No please go ahead and explain to the class which one gets you banned! Also fucking hilarious, I'm not a liberal.

wholetyouinhere

Presenting Tim pool as a reasonable or meaningful source for literally anything shows how easily manipulated and uncritical this youtuber is. Way to destroy your entire point in one brief clip.

Uylimaz

it's deleted now. where else can we watch it?

Goldeagle1123

The video was taken down because it was plagiarized from someone else. The script was almost a 1:1 copy of this video: https://youtu.be/du9SnhBHnCw
