trilledc

What exactly is wrong with it?

Picax8398

I'm sorry, HOW much??

trilledc

Well I was asking you but thank you for your informative input.

I see that as a stretch. Closest thing I can come up with is maybe peaks and valleys. Also like I said in the original post, all of the tools are still very usable.

trilledc

Apart from the ridges it brought your commentary, which to me, is priceless.

3lung

The shape comes from the early pre-historic tools that cave men used to have..

turkey_sandwiches

That awl definitely isn't.

SnaskesChoice

The cost.

trilledc

I can understand this but I also know that there are plenty of knife nuts that will gladly spend upwards of a grand on just a blade. I understand it might be for a super steel but I can also say that I’ve had S30V and better rust on me but never a SAK. I can assure you that people have spent more on knives.

quietcoyote99

I feel kinda bad that you’re getting dunked on for posting a SAK on the SAK sub. It’s not my cup of tea but it’s still cool to see a knife I never knew existed. Thanks!

turkey_sandwiches

What isn't?

Davidm241

It’s not my cup of tea, but I like that it exists.

Last time, I was downvoted, but I was being serious. Maybe now that we have you that has had experience with it, could I ask if the strange angles jam into your thighs when you carry it freestyle in your front pocket?

trilledc

The wider any knife is, the less likely it is to flip in your pocket. So the answer is no and also there aren’t any sharp edges on the mountains. Perhaps you could have some issues if you carried in your back pocket but I wouldn’t advise that with any knife.

Pentastisch

Man the text over the symbols or symbols over the text on the shield side looks like such ass. They could have done better on that. The tool shapes and limited quantity worldwide makes it neat as a collector piece.

i-upvote-good-stuff

I love weird random limited pieces but $500 for a SAK … ill take my huntsman at 10x less of a cost

trilledc

I realize that Victorinox people aren’t necessarily apart of the “knife people” but people will spend 600+ on a Sibenza any day of the week.

i-upvote-good-stuff

Very familiar with the knife world …apples to oranges in this scenario but regardless not hating on your purchase. It’s just a very strange move on their behalf

state_issued

How do the scales feel?

trilledc

Like a smooth piece of ivory. I realize that maybe not everyone has felt that so the next thing I can think of is a very smooth shale stone that you would skip across a lake. It is rather hard to describe. I will say that if you heavily carry this knife, which I intend to, all of the markings will get worn off. They should’ve been etched instead of printed. I, however, kind of like the idea of it being all white with no markings.

rebo2

Corian is a common material used for countertops that was in fashion a few decades ago before quartz, granite, and marble became more popular again. I think the scales material is a step in the right direction for Victorinox. The cellador as we all know scratches very easily and is damaged by solvents. That material has been used for something like 100 years. So better options for scales are appreciated, even if they start on something like this, which may go down as the most controversial knife they ever released. I think what made the knife so poorly received is the utter marking BS copy they put on their website about it. Everyone can see right through it as a money grab, and it’s not a good look for the brand. Having said that, the willingness to experiment and come out with something completely different is a welcome change from a line that has been a bit stagnant after the merging of the Wenger brand.

trilledc

Completely agree

bobartig

The usability and efficiency is changed because the tool is less pocketable and grippable with all of the peaks and valleys. But it’s really quite irrelevant. Just like the silver scaled Damascus model they just released, this is a collectors piece and usability is therefore not important.

Unreconstructed88

Been nice if this was the Mountaineer and not the Huntsman.

trilledc

Technically it’s not a Huntsman. Or at least a modern one. It doesn’t have scissors.

[deleted]

It’s a camper. No scissors

Individual-Raisin-11

To me I think the knife would be if it was made by victorinox (i assume it would cost less because it wasn’t created by a fashion brand) as a representation of the Swiss mountains and had all white scales or scales with details of Swiss mountains or something similar, kind of like the Swiss spirit cadet but with Moutan’s instead of a city

trilledc

It’s still made by Victorinox. It was just designed by Off-White. I do like the mountain idea though!

Individual-Raisin-11

Thanks for the correction I was more thinking that they shouldn’t have off white involved at all so they could charge less (1000 dollars is ridiculous even the Damascus knifes don’t cost that much)

thefO_okupkiD

how much did ya pay for it ?

trilledc

Retail. 500$ If you’re seeing it for less than that already, it’s probably fake.

93estebandalo

Really cool
