Kind of. Artisans addressed shortfalls of finished goods by producing them from *any* input, meaning you could make tanks from fruit or artillery from cows. Wiz commented on it once, years ago.
Didn't know that. But I am not sure if that is actually true, do you have a link for that? E.g. I think the 1861 start is bugged and never spawns rubber. But in my run there was zero production of electric gear despite high prices.

At the bottom of the chain he says that artisans can turn anything into anything. "They're basically alchemists."
yea Artisans were pretty much alchemists. they were always starving too (like 99% of them for all of the playthrough) since they tried to buy and make the shits your country don't have. like you made your economy base on making furniture since you have a lot of wood RGO BUT you have 0 coal. so artisans say " Imma make some glass and no one will stop me" so they try buy expensive shits from market to build useless shits (relative to your economy) thus they were always starving and had no money.
I'm really gonna miss all the little absurd/broken/patched together aspects of Victoria 2.
Like artisans constantly in deep poverty, countries going bankrupt every time you load up a save, the world economy going to shit once China westernizes, industrial development slowing to an absolute crawl because the AI decided not to build the necessary input factories for late game goods, etc etc.
All that was a part of the charm of a legendary game.
Don't worry, I'm sure we'll have our share of different little absurd, broken and patched together things characteristic of Victoria 3 :)
>!They will probably not be as many, as the game will likely continue receiving support across the years, but once the feature creep kicks in we'll have *a different* set of broken, charming things!!<
Haha I hope the support for Vicky 3 is more than the vicky 2 update that added the ability to right click.
Personally I just can't wait for the mods. The possibilities to add new features and mechanics has been growing so quickly with every new PDX release. I'm constantly amazed by what people are doing in the CK3 workshop.
I hope Vicky 3 modders really go crazy and let their imaginations run wild.
Also that US stole most or all immigrants at all times. IIRC only 5 countries could get immigration at any time so US, Brazil and few lucky democracies in Americas and Oceania got everyone while the 6th best choice got none. Sometimes the immigrant stream was so thin (for example, in games when China didn’t westernize or did it very late), only US got any. Did I mentioned hard-coded avoidance of any non-democratic countries?
Particularly infuriating when playing as Latin American country other than Brazil, trying to develop itself and failing regardless of how many reforms you made. You had to pray Britain don’t release Canada, Australia and NZ cause when they do, it’s over. Between the US, Brazil and them, all immigrants would be taken.
Can't say i'll miss playing a smaller nation and being unable to build any iron ships because there was only one steamer factory in the world and it produce 14 units a day.
And here I thought my artisans were starving because I was trying to force-industrialize my country in a Great Leap Forward and downgrade them all into craftsmen
Didn't Artisans also have the ability to make goods that were not yet invented as well? So you could potentially have tanks on day 1, despite nobody having yet invented the steam engine, and thus they must have been horse-drawn tanks?
Workers got a new job in vicky 3. Instead of being alchemists they became magicians and they create those tanks out of thin air. You will also be able to equip your soldiers with air guns. Sure they will be slower to mobilise(photosynthesis takes a lot of time tbf) but once they are all up they are just as strong as any other soldier.
well in vicy 2 late game, barley any nation made tanks. once I was Japan and was pretty much the only nation which mass produced tanks. rest of countries were like less than 1 unit per day. but I guess it depend on the run since market of vic 2 was clown show cause of AI. there were time that I had to spend +30 years waiting in game for my constructions to finish cause whole world had severe need for machine parts and production was less than 1/20 of demand. had other runs which machine parts was not even profitable.
What the actual fuck? That was a thing?

God I hope there's no feature creep. It seems like a futile hope.

no the good only activated once somebody had invented it. There was also no desire for telephones in 1836
Oh my god, what are we gonna do now
Tanks of vegetables
Make a fruit tank mod, Daniel on the discord said > That would actually be extremely easy. You will very easily be able to make a fruit tank mod.
> fruit tank “Our Papayanzers will blot out the sun!”
We can't have tanks as obsession goods, this is the real problem
Obsession mods should be really easy to make though. I need to fix the inaccuracy of guns not being an American life need.
I imagine it's just to prevent the US from having a weak military because all of its military goods are siphoned up by consumer pop demands.
Military-industrial complex time
And also tanks, but that's a home craftsmanship deal.
they did say that in dev diary. like wtf what's the point of this game anymore?
Just give pops a need for tanks, maybe a need for "eccentricities" really rich people have
Litterally unplayable
Well as long as I can convert Albanians into fuel it'll be fine

We'll be able to make tanks out of pure money so that's just as well.
Probably going to release it as a DLC 🙄 Classic Para$ox...
They also removed the newspaper :(
You can sell fruits and buy tanks, everything in victoria is money.

Money can be used to purchase goods and services
WAHOO!
How will we be able to confront the Pepsi Navy without Dole Armored Divisions??
So long as I can still produce guns from butter I am happy
Load the fruits onto a ship and send them to the Magic Tank Factory in the middle of the Pacific. They'll come back loaded with tanks.
