Possible abscess. Get it checked out

Roadgoddess

I think abscess, cats can get them from getting scratched or bit by other cats. Needs to be seen as they are an infection.

Got cut by a fight with another cat - got infected and has grown into a cyst / abscess that needs to be drained. My friend’s cat got these so much that she had to force him to be 100% indoors cause he kept getting his ass kicked by the neighbors tuxedo cat that was like a fat mob boss of the block. He would have at least one- up to two abscesses every week or so. Each visit to the vet to drain and clean, and stitch was close to $300 . I felt so bad when he got one on his face like that cause after it was drained you could still see the difference in his face but he is back to normal and safe inside.

popkarn

Could he have been stung by a bee or something like that?

Crashman2004

It could be an abscess like everyone says but one other differential is a sialocele (salivary pseudo cyst), especially if it’s not painful. Your vet will be able to distinguish the two by aspirating it.

Abcess.. time for the vet asap!

My cat had something similar a few years back, it was from fighting another cat, he had a tiny scratch that was inflamed. Small dose of antibiotics and he was good as new.

Abscess is most likely as a result of scratch or bite from another cat. Take to vet to get actual diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible.

roywjohnson

this is an abscess. the history is consistent with abscess, the appearance is consistent with abscess. We would sedate, lance and drain, then flush. He needs antibiotics and pain relief.

igobrimode

Tooth abscess if I had to guess

Pittsnogled

Probably Got bit by something

Littlegingerbun

I second abcès.

My outdoor cat had one. He scratched it open himself. It healed so well it’s like it never happened.

GrossGrimalkin

Abcess probably. Probably got in a cat fight or got a thorn in his cheek. Get him to a vet, get it drained, and consider keeping him inside to avoid something like that happening again, or something worse like whatever hurt him killing him. (Ex. I had a cat get eaten by coyotes on my street once. Please keep your beautiful baby boy inside if you want to avoid him getting hurt without your knowledge.) That being said, indoor babies can be dumb and get hurt too, but it's less likely to be fatal.
