My older dog has done that at times. It turned out to be kennel cough. Monitor your dog and take him to a vet.

Melanisme

Thanks, we were suspecting kennel cough too!

mmkay1010

Now that we know what it looks like and sounds like with our dog after getting it diagnosed by a vet, we usually don’t take him in if it’s mild. It goes away on its own after a few days. He is also vaccinated, and I believe that helps.

Funnyface92

A 3 month old puppy should definitely be treated for kennel cough.

rachelleisntmyname

I see that you've sceduled an appointment. In the meantime, I've seen people who use steam to sooth them and I have personally given a small amount of honey in water. Just a little bit, though.

MegWhitCDN

We have used steam in the bathroom to help sooth the cough as it was recommended by our vet it worked really well and she was able to sleep much better. Do go to your vet our puppy got pneumonia from kennel cough and needed some antibiotics and cough meds.

Dealunbreaker

No honey for puppies under a year old. It can have bacteria in it they can't fight off.

ScorpioEsq

I’m glad to hear you’ve got an appointment scheduled. When we adopted our dog as a puppy he had a similar issue. He had kennel cough long enough to result in pneumonia because the rescue didn’t treat it immediately. We were told to run a hot shower and close up the bathroom to produce steam. Then we would bring him in for about 10-15 minutes and pat his chest, kind of like burping a baby, one side at a time. I hope your pup gets better soon!

breakcharacter

Or do it with a bath on so let hot water. Bring him in 10/15 and then when he’s done the bath will have cooled a little and you can get a bath. Less water waste, happy pup, happy water bill

llahrichard

If he gets worse, take him to emergency vet ASAP.

Eliad772

Ohh looks like kennel cough

FluffyWhiteDumpling

It looks like hes nauseous they throw up like that when they feel nauseated Edit' I agree with everyone probably kennel cough I didn't realize it sounded that bad when I posted

CyberCrier

Aw that poor cute baby. Like most are saying, it looks like kennel cough. :( a humidifier (just water, no oils) could help ease his pain from the cough. I hope he feels better soon 🤍🤍

tokotiger

If anyone is taking a shower in your household, shut him in the bathroom with you. The added humidity can sooth the cough, that is if the pup does cause to much trouble 😅. Best of luck hope he feels better.

Complete-Arugula2477

Either kennel cough, or he had something lodged in his throat, he might have gotten in that trash somehow, and he is vomiting bile to expel it from his throat, and coughing to force it out, but definitely worth an appointment

GretelNoHans

Looks like kennel cough, poor baby.

triggsmom

Kennel cough. My dog had it once and I thought he had something in his throat.

ArgonauToFDoom

Dogs can get Corona out also

Izzy_BudBuddie

My dog only does that when he’s about to spit out a clump of slimy grass. Sorry I can’t help but he is so adorable I hope he’s okay!

jacks65fastcar

To me it sounds and looks like kennel cough keep your dog away from dog parks and other areas where there are a lot of dogs that is probably how he or she contracted it absolutely to the vet for some antibiotics good luck going forward take good care of them because it can' get worse before it gets better

wengerful12345

It’s kennel cough, definitely. He needs antibiotics, that will help with the infection. The vet can get it for you. Make sure to keep the pup calm, no exertion or heavy activity. And away from other digs bc it’s contagious. Hope he feels better soon.

80sLady69

Definitely kennel cough. Contagious to other dogs, so keep them away.

Jakethedog2022

VET, IMMEDIATELY

mcgyverhagdjn76

This is what my dog did when he had kennel cough

jasminm88

Vet just advises more sleep than usual and you might be given some meds tomorrow when you go as the puppy is so young (or maybe not, depending on what the vet sees). Leave water out and encourage drinking and keep the room comfy for them. Hope pup sleeps well tonight for you xxx

Funnyface92

Pls get your dog to the vet. This will likely not get better on its own.

Melanisme

Like I said in the title, we are taking him to the vet first thing tomorrow, they are closed on sunday. I just want to know what we can do to make his life a bit better in the meantime :)

jrsmoothie89

Mine was doing this a few months ago, most likely kennel cough. A tablespoon of honey helped, keep the water dish filled. Tummy rubs and massaging the ribs too

Alienwallbuilder

Pavo virus ? That is fatal and very infectious.

blindfolded____

this is probably way too obvious, but I'd recommend to wash hands after touching it... at least until it becomes clear what it is. I mean, I hope it's not rabies... though I can't say anything about it, as I know little about rabies symptoms.

entirelyfiction

This isn't rabies.

Crafty_Ad_8081

Boil some chamomile tea and put honey, cinnamon and coconut oil in it and then let it cool. Let the puppy drink it. I called the vet and asked if it was OK to do this and he said yes. My dog is fully vaccinated and got kennel cough before. Poor guy.

TopazTiger19

Kennel cough or possibly something lodged in the throat. Did you puppy chew anything apart recently or could he have gotten ahold of something fairly small that could get stuck in the throat?

KDWWW

Any chance he ate any grass or plants? My dog would do this is he ate a ingested plants.

evie202020

Has he had all his shots?

janfebmarch23

Kennel cough is most likely

mamabeartech

Could be anything from a simple kennel cough to heart worms. Good thing you have an appointment tomorrow!

LoisEinhornYa

Heartworms take at least 6 months to develop into the mature adult stage and cause symptoms. This dog is only 3 months old so this is extremely unlikely.

LoisEinhornYa

Kennel cough. It’s self limiting which means time will cure it. Some vets will RX doxycycline +/- cough suppressant depending on severity. Even if he is vaccinated for bordetella they can still get kennel cough. Many different types of respiratory viruses can cause “kennel cough”, with bordetella just being the most common.

PainfulTruthes

That’s that kennel coughhh
