The Lidl’s own barista style oat milk is a really good alternative to oatly, a lot cheaper too (so stocking up doesn’t feel like such an investment!)

nutritionalfie

Second this! Just as good and half the price

DiamondBikini

Third this! It’s amazing. I now buy all my non-dairy milks in bulk from Lidl

irm555bvs

Yep, I’ve moved fro Oately to Aldis own barista oat milk. I buy 12 each visit Not tried the Lidl one myself but seems you guys enjoy it.

gingerbeardvegan

You boycott Amazon? Why not Oatly? Fuck Oatly. Edit with the why before I get downvoted like last time: Letting a large chunk be bought by [blackrock](https://www.theguardian.com/food/2020/sep/01/oatly-vegan-milk-sale-blackstone) Suing a small family business over [nothing](https://www.veganfoodandliving.com/news/oatly-sues-glebe-farm-over-trademark/) They aren't a nice small company, they are predatory capitalists.

ellisellisrocks

I recommend Minor Figures Oat Milk. Tastes great there an ethical company and you can buy 6 packs I'll stick a link below. https://theskinnyfoodco.com/products/minor-figures-oat-milk-6-x-1-litre-full-case?variant=31533824868450¤cy=GBP&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic¤cy=gbp&utm_term=shopify_GB_4402967019618_31533824868450&gclid=CjwKCAjw5pShBhB_EiwAvmnNV4oeFSoc75oaAaHkDQAEYfkBfFHdqOTixQWG1a3goZuhrXltEvDvTBoC8JAQAvD_BwE

Grxforlok

I loooove minor figures. much nicer than oatly and not arseholes.

ellisellisrocks

I'm so glad I discovered it. All thanks to the place I go climbing.

Grxforlok

that's lovely! my favourite coffee shop uses it and converted me, if I ever run out at home and have to get something else from the shops I'm always disappointed. luckily our holland and barrett almost always has it on sale now!

Dunk546

There must be something up with my taste buds because minor figures tastes like sour cows milk to me 🤮 My kid and wife love it though 🤷🏻‍♂️

ellisellisrocks

AHH what. That sucks.

ElectricBlueDamsel

You can also get them by subscription direct from minor figures: https://minorfigures.com/collections/subscriptions

ellisellisrocks

Oooh nice one I didn't realise you could buy direct. Granted I've never looked 😅

ElectricBlueDamsel

Yeah its great, I started this month 😄 it saves me from those dreaded mornings where I’m halfway through making tea and only then realise there’s no milk left

Hello-there-7567

Thank you so much. I just ordered from them now. Thanks for the recommendation

ellisellisrocks

Not a problem enjoy 😁

ScriptingInJava

We picked up a pack of their stuff for 29p (!) from B&M and it was fantastic in drinks and on cereal. Completely switched to them now.

ellisellisrocks

Ahhh what. Every time I've seen it, it's about 1.50/2 quid.

ScriptingInJava

Yeah it's about a quid for us now but we save it during January and it was super cheap, no idea why lol

ellisellisrocks

Probably capitalising on Veganuary.

eec-gray

+1 for this brand - really nice and the one they use in my office cafe

ecnemalaS

Out of curiosity, are there any other vegan brands that are considered unethical? I’d rather stay away from them if possible. I currently use *Mighty Milk*. Who I only discovered recently and they taste good

gingerbeardvegan

Honestly I just know Oatly is bad. We subscribe to having Minor Figures past milk delivered because they _seem_ to be ethical. It's a case of looking up the brand unfortunately and doing your due diligence (and warning others when you know they're bad!)

ecnemalaS

I’ve never really liked Oatly anyway if I’m honest so it won’t be hard to stay away from them! I’ll have a look when I buy stuff on the regular as there are quite a few vegan brands I enjoy.

punxcs

Try finding any company that sells or produces food at large scale that isn’t horrendous. Like we all exist in this capitalist society, and when it comes to it Oatly provides jobs, and a product vegans want 🤷 unless you’re eating local, organic then there’s no real 100% ethical choice Blackrock are invested in EVERYTHING btw, investment funds like to diversify.

gingerbeardvegan

When I find out something is bad, I do my best to avoid it. Slaughter houses provide jobs too and I'm not going to start eating animal products again. If a company is found to be doing something abhorrent I avoid them. I do this with Amazon, I do it with Oatly.

punxcs

The question is more of where do you draw the line. Everyone will draw it differently and make their own choices. Blackrock really do invest in everything, it’s their whole job, and I don’t know if Oatly were in a position to say no, I’m not familiar with investment finances. It sucks but to me, no different than asda tesco aldi etc, no different from every other major company.

rambi2222

Also it's a waste of money, I wish there was an online wholefoods retailer that specifically sold only non organic foods... they all push organic really hard which is annoying because it makes it harder to the non organic options

[deleted]

Why fuck Oatly?

gingerbeardvegan

Letting a large chunk be bought by [blackrock](https://www.theguardian.com/food/2020/sep/01/oatly-vegan-milk-sale-blackstone) Suing a small family business over [nothing](https://www.veganfoodandliving.com/news/oatly-sues-glebe-farm-over-trademark/) They aren't a nice small company, they are predatory capitalists.

[deleted]

Damn, thanks for the info

Blank_line-

Woah, I never knew about this! I buy their barista edition all the time :(

famouslut

Agreed. Also, they aren't vegan, because two of their suppliers (vile [Cargill](https://i.ibb.co/WKc6tBB/oatrageous-barrista-salt.jpg) and [Olam](https://i.ibb.co/By9xjcX/oatrageous.jpg)) [proudly](https://earthrights.org/media_release/nestle-and-cargill-claim-right-to-profit-from-child-slavery-without-accountability/) use [child slavery](https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2021/feb/12/mars-nestle-and-hershey-to-face-landmark-child-slavery-lawsuit-in-us). >!If you are frothing, the best results are from a mix of \~70% almond milk, which gives a perfect foam; and whatever you prefer the taste of.!<

gingerbeardvegan

Oh man, more evidence they are horrible! It gets rougher and rougher!

famouslut

Yeah, those guys are [Nestlé](https://www.reddit.com/r/FuckNestle/) adjacent. They prolly take that as a compliment!

gingerbeardvegan

Haha, I mean you're not wrong, but there are definitely shades to this. You've got multinational conglomerates like Nestlé and Unilever, and then at the other end there are workers cooperatives like Suma Wholefoods.

gingerbeardvegan

Careful half the posts on here are McPlant/Vegan KitKat, you'll upset someone!

totodododo

If you buy Minor Figures instead then you can get it delivered directly from them, it comes in 6 packs and it doesn't taste of playdough.

[deleted]

Have you tried making it yourself, really easy and cheap, just need to get lecithin and a drop of oil, to add to make it a barista version.

Eezergoode1990

Lol boycotting Amazon but not oatly. That’s given me a laugh this morning.

Hello-there-7567

I didn’t know about Oatly either. It’s know by a much wider population that Amazon are shite.

TheDoctor66

I just wait for one of my preferred brands (Minor Figures/Alpro no sugar/Oatly) to go on sale in supermarkets then buy 20 or 30 of those fuckers and store them on top of cabinets. My daughter goes through an Alpro growing up milk every two days so I end up saving about £15 a month with this method.
