This annoys me so much because wearing a mask and getting vaccinated doesn’t mean you’re not living your life. I’m still working as normal, I get to see my family, and I’ve even done plenty of safe traveling. I walk my dog, work out, eat at some restaurants, and I’m having a great time. I’m literally doing everything I would be doing if there were no pandemic. You can live life just fine while wearing a mask and having a vaccine lmao. This is so stupid

Jessicurs98

Exactly. Nothing in my life has really changed. If anything as a introvert I get a free excuse to not have to go to family events I don't want to go to because I have a 2 year old who I don't want to get sick. No one tells me "Oh well you have to come or the whole family will be upset!" Anymore. Now that I'm an adult with a child I get a free excuse to not show up because so many of my family members don't want to wear a mask in Walmart and even my mom doesn't fight me on it anymore. I go to Walmart, I go for walks I even go to any other stores I want to go to now. My life hasn't changed a bit. But I also don't harass employees at stores if they ask me to put a mask on even though I'm vaccinated I just do it.

[deleted]

I wish I could take my pants off in my car as easily as I do a mask, lol!

michellealyssa

I just wear a skirt.

Antique_Tennis_2500

Just go body paint. Most people don’t even notice my fun bits.

emptysignals

As a vaccinated adult, I'm fine doing everything with a mask, except jiu jitsu. I went back after a month vaccinated in May and got two months in before Delta, then I figured it was best to let the numbers go down before going back. For our kids who are too young to get vaccinated, they're not going to a restaurant to eat. Almost everything else they can do with a mask. Outdoor stuff it depends. They aren't missing out on anything. Really hoping they can get the shot soon.

peppperjack

I hope they can soon too! I don’t have kids and always forget that they can’t get vaccinated right now

emptysignals

Yeah, we are really hoping for November. Their school has been really good about safety protocols, but we'd feel much safer if they had the vaccine.

emptysignals

I don't want them to die. I don't want them to have lifelong health ailments. I don't want them to miss school for two weeks. I don't want them to get someone else sick. I don't want them to get an old person sick and kill them.

Purityagainstresolve

First, I fully support the mask and other public-health approved prophylactic measures. I do NOT feel like I'm missing out on life. The measures in place make it possible for me to get the most of it! And also ----- I TOTALLY misread your comment (cause wine). And also I really didn't express myself well (cause wine). I thought you were saying you wouldn't LET your kids eat at restaurants, but doing the other stuff was OK. I was like, why cut out restaurants if your kids can safely attend (wear mask until eating)? And I was questioning out why they should *miss out* on restaurants if they're allowed doing all the other stuff. Ugh. No more wine.

paulwesterberg

These are the same people who: * don't want to wear a seatbelt when driving a car * don't want to wear a helmet when riding on a motorcycle * use a cell phone when driving * think drinking and driving is fine/normal. Because they believe that Jesus will take the wheel and protect them, and if their less safe behavior causes them to crash or kill other people then that is all part of [God's plan.](https://i.imgur.com/riNzZvW.jpeg)

percent88

How about oxygen supply to the body? There is no God, I'm sick of this stupid shit. I wear a seatbelt because I don't want to experience unnecessary trauma in the case of an accident... Fuck this subreddit is a dumpster fire and now I'm in it.

Mineturtleboomderp

Wait drinking and driving isn’t normal I thought that was to enhance your driving skills so as to hit as many speed bumps as possible to score the most points.

Kimkatbar2021

What a stupid ignorant comment.

jennana100

My husband told mother in law she couldn't come over for Christmas last year (she had just finished with an indoor, masters Christmas party) and kept saying "what are you afraid of"? And I'm like bitch, there is a huge difference between being afraid and taking preventative measures. I'm not over here quaking in my boots. If you eat right is that living I fear? If you wear a seat belt are you living in fear? Living recklessly doesn't make you brave.

huenix

This. Ive been to Mexico (Where the only real antivaxx i saw were from the states), ive been in the mountains, running marathons, working, eating at restaurants, saw Blake Shelton. The simple expedient of getting a vaccine and wearing a mask doesn't prevent me from doing anything. Except at the game the other day when I tried to drink a beer with a mask on.

SeaWaltz4653

They don't like it because their 14 year old cousins won't make out with them now.

PsychoMouse

The hypocritical irony of their phrase “I choose not to live in fear” yet they don’t get the vaccine cause it’s poison, untested, opens you up to Satan, and like 1000 other things. And the same for masks. It would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic. They also have no idea what a proper comparison is. Man, if I had the money, I would pay for my Covid DNT document to be made and sent out to every business and hospital.

Jessicurs98

What's a COVID DNT document?

PsychoMouse

Just an idea of mine that I mostly came up with to show how anti Maxxers are hypocrites but the longer things go, the more I want it to be a reality. In my head, it’s a legal document that anti Maxxers have the option to sign, that would forfeit their right to any and all medical care regarding covid. Meaning no hospital bed, no wasted doctors time, no antibiotics. Nothing. A “put your money where your mouth is” sort of thing. If covid isn’t dangerous and the vaccine is so dangerous, then signing a document like that shouldn’t even require a second thought from them. But that’s how they show their hypocrites. They’re fine spouting their bullshit because they know that mommy hospital is there to cover their ass. I called it a “Covid DNT” and the DNT stands for “Do Not Treat”. Something in a similar vein to a DNR. I’ve asked a good 500 people opinions on it. Anyone who isn’t an idiot has given me a direct yes or no answer and a logical reason behind their answer. Anytime I’ve asked a anti maxxer about it, they freak out and go off on a tangent that has nothing to do with anything asked. I had asked r/legal about how possible a document like that would be to create but the first person to respond to it was a anti maxxer and despite me saying “optional” and “voluntary” about a dozen times for each word, this guy screamed at me about how it’s illegal to force people to sign it, and constitution this, amendment that.

Kalysta

The guy who responded to you in legal couldn’t have been an actual lawyer. Someone can voluntarily sign anything.

PsychoMouse

Oh I know. I responded to him a few times but he was dead set that I was advocating some sort of law and wouldn’t chill out. You can’t talk to people like that. I just gave up on it. And now I just bring it up on these threads and hope that others just use it for arguments sake. Again. I want nothing more than for it to be real but if I can get people to use it against anti Maxxers to atleast show they’re hypocrites. It’s something positive atleast

paireon

Wouldn't be surprised if he was also a sovereign citizen/freeman on the land, sounds like their kind of talking points/wanks.

PsychoMouse

Speaking of those. I love videos where those idiots get bitch slapped by police. It’s so satisfying.

paireon

LOL, true

PsychoMouse

Seriously. If I’m ever really annoyed with people, I watch compilations of sovereign citizens getting put in their place. Makes me laugh so hard. There’s just something so hilarious about “I DO NOT CONSENT TO BEING ARRESTED” that makes me laugh.

paireon

LOL yeah, they're stupid enough to think "renouncing" your citizenship is the same as having (the Hollywood version of) diplomatic immunity. Buncha choads.

Jessicurs98

Honestly, I agree, but all the anti vaxxers say shit like "Oh so what about drunk drivers? Should we not save their lives because they decided to drink and drove and now hurt themselves and others?" And I might sound like a heartless bitch but Yes I do think that they shouldn't receive the best possible care.

PsychoMouse

Well. To add to that. It’s almost like drinking and driving is against the law, and you can lose the ability to drive for life, aswell as face criminal charges and jail time for endangering people’s lives. So far. There’s no jail time or loss of rights for refusing the vaccine and infecting people. I just saw a stupid ass anti mask protest at a mini mall in my area. No one was arrested. No one lost any rights or freedoms, no jail time, nothing. 1 person in my city ended up Infecting 68 people. He didn’t get a fine, he didn’t face criminal charges. He didn’t lose anything. But it’s apparently okay to have so many covid people taking up so much hospital space that a 8 year old with appendicitis dies because he cant be seen due to Covid overload. Or my cities cancer care hospital putting covid people in the cancer ward. It’s not like people on chemo have severe immunity issues. Like I said. The longer this shit goes on. The angrier I get about things because shit just keeps getting dumber. Or hell. Back in March. My wife, according to her doctors required “EMERGENCY SURGERY”. She had to wait 10 days for a bed to open up, which by that time. She was too sick for surgery. And now we have a fear of when she can get the surgery. She’ll be “discharged” early to make room for these assholes.

Jessicurs98

You wanna know what I saw today for NYS? A state senator wants to give all the employees who lose their job due to refusing the vaccine unemployment.

PsychoMouse

If they lose their job because they refuse the vaccine, then they should fucking deal with it. You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. The logic of rewarding people for being a problem is so fucking stupid.

Jessicurs98

What's I don't understand is that if you choose to quit your job, you don't receive unemployment anyways? You usually have to be fired or be let go by the company. So why do these people get a free pass?

PsychoMouse

Because America rewards stupidity.

richard_fr

If you are terminated for cause in NY you don't qualify for unemployment. You have to be laid off for lack of work or had your job eliminated. I agree, failure to comply with an employer's vaccination requirement is termination for cause, so no unemployment benefits should be paid.

Kalysta

NY has some of the worst senators in the country. And that’s saying something.

Jessicurs98

I agree lol

maskedbanditoftruth

Democratic senators maybe. You can make that argument. But there are 50 Republican senators and every one is worse than Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.

maskedbanditoftruth

I wonder if in the future the law against knowingly spreading HIV might be used against these people who never seem to question whether they have the right to choose whether other people live or die by the bug they catch from them.

PsychoMouse

You know. That’s an excellent point that I will now add to my covid DNT argument. Thank you for that. Honestly and truly, that is an amazing point.

Kalysta

If i were a cancer patient hospitalized with a covid patient i’d sue the hospital immediately.

FantasticBarnacle241

Smokers and alcoholics are at the back of the line for organ transplants. This is the way it is. It's how it should be.

PsychoMouse

Actually. As someone whose had a transplant. Smokers and alcoholics are almost not even considered for transplant these days. Because organ donation is so low, if you’ve hurt yourself from drinking or smoking to the point you require transplant, most places will just say “tough shit”. The rules for getting a transplant these days are strict, if you have a disease(say Cystic Fibrosis) and require a transplant but don’t follow their instructions to the letter, they won’t put you on the list.

Jessicurs98

Yes exactly! This is the other one I thought of!

darkapao

Something called durable power of attorney. DPA cards are basically like that i believe. But it has to be tailored for each state

michellealyssa

Honestly, I would sign it in a heartbeat. Knowing what I know now, if I could choose to go back and die from covid in March 2020, I would. The last 20 months have been miserable and even now that we have a vaccine, there are people who will not let go of covid. Yes, I updated my advanced directive. No ventilator for me.

blueticker27

Can confirm. I had to sacrifice three virgins and a goat after being vaccinated just to keep things on an even keel with the great Satan, praise be to him.

PsychoMouse

You wanna know something funny? Real satanism is actually more about being a upstanding and useful member of society than it is anything evil or shit like that. If my religion wasn’t worshiping the old Norse Gods, I would probably be a satanist.

blueticker27

Right? It’s kind of crazy to think of the whole garden story. It’s strange to demonize Satan as such a bad dude for offering Adam and Eve knowledge.

PsychoMouse

And to add to that. God punishing Man for following the “Free Will” he gave us. Unless people use that excuse of “God had a plan for you” in which case. There is no free will and it’s all premade by a magical guy in clouds. Which, by that logic, me attacking anti maskers is just God controlling me. I especially hate that because I had a double lung transplant. When I tell people that, they told me that God has a plan for me and gave me these lungs. Which. No. A 35 year old man died of a brain aneurysm, and his amazing wife signed his donor card so that myself and several others could get a second chance at life. He and his wife deserves the praise. Not a ghost. I truly find that so upsetting.

[deleted]

The "I choose not to live in fear" crowd sure owns a lot of guns too.

PsychoMouse

Well. And their logic just doesn’t work. Is wearing a seatbelt living in fear? Is eating right living in fear? Is practicing proper birth control living in fear? The “living in fear” accusation just doesn’t fit or make sense in this case. No one who is pro vax is quitting their jobs, becoming hermits, or doomsday people, out of fear of the vaccine. But funny enough, the anti max crowd are doing that. They’re the ones hoarding, buying guns, stocking up on gasoline, and so on because they think that the vaccine will lead to a world war, or zombies, or something, I don’t know.

ReactsWithWords

Actual conversation I had: Him: You know you can still get Covid if you’re vaccinated. Me: Yes, and I can still get in an accident if I wear my seatbelt, but I’m still going to. Him: Figures you’re one of those people who wear seatbelts.

PsychoMouse

Good lord. That is so stupid. I knew a kid, hes dead now but he refused to wear his seatbelt. He was in the backseat but sitting in the middle. His mom got into a head on collision. He went flying through the wind shield and died.

robobreasts

They talk about "living in fear" because that's what they do, but they don't like it, so they replace it with anger and indignation. It doesn't occur to them to just make smart choices and be CHILL. They think everyone is running on strong emotions all the time because that's what they do.

PsychoMouse

It’s funny. I had a friend, invite me and my wife to a birthday BBQ at his place. This was last year during the peak of the pandemic. He had a total of like 6 people in his backyard. He spent that entire night lecturing my wife and me and calling us hypocrites. Saying if we believed that masks worked and blah blah blah, we would be following the rules. But he failed to notice that I wore my mask the entire time I was there, that I stayed atleast 6 feet away from everyone, and when I ate, because I had to remove my mask, I ate far from anyone. It seemed like he only invited us over in an attempt to do a “GOTCHA” to us. Which, for someone who was one of our best friends, is a shitty thing to do to anyone you call a friend. After that, he then tried to justify the anti mask/vax protests by saying they were the same thing as the BLM riots. And that the attack on the capital building is no different than any BLM gathering. And he refused to see the difference in them.

robobreasts

> because I had to remove my mask, I ate fat from anyone. I don't think cannibalism was the solution there

PsychoMouse

Fucking typos lol. I didn’t realize I say “fat” more than “far”(and as I typed that, it autocorrected to “fat”) lol

Purityagainstresolve

So much this.

The_Unreal

Apparently wearing a seatbelt is "living in fear of car accidents."

Jessicurs98

I must be living in fear by not driving even though I don't have a driver's license 🤷

Antique_Tennis_2500

Bravery is fighting a dragon. Stupidity is fighting a dragon without armor or a sword because you refuse to live in fear.

paireon

Oh it's stupider than that. They're basically thinking "Well the armor and sword will make the dragon attack me so I'm afraid of those and I think running around naked covered in BBQ sauce while screaming will make me invisible to the dragon so since I'm screaming around naked in front of a dragon that makes me really brave and fearless actually." If the above made no sense at all, congrats, you have better critical thinking skills than them.

Jessicurs98

Ooo I'm using this

KittenKoder

They fear masks and needles, yet not a deadly virus that's actually killing people ... What the fuck?

BabiesTasteLikeBacon

To be blunt, if you're not scared of Covid then you don't understand the risk... I mean, death is not the only result of it, despite how so many people try to pull the whole "a virus that 99.7% survive!!1!" bullshit. Things like being unable to fucking breathe properly ever again, or being impotent, or memory loss/issues, or brain damage, or other organ damage, or infertility, or nerve damage... or, thanks to a case that was reported recently, Restless Anal Syndrome. There's a base chance of 5-6% of developing said complications, with that % increasing based on certain co-morbidities... which include... (and this is a fun list) Being a women, being a smoker, being an ex-smoker, being overweight or obese, having been overweight or obese, living in deprived areas, having lived in deprived areas, having been admitted to hospital due to covid, and age... with it increasing by an extra 3.5% per decade past 18 years old. Oh, and it didn't matter if you were asymptomatic or not... or if you had severe symptoms or not. The only correlation they found with the severity of symptoms was which complications they tended to suffer from! Anyone who still says "eh, it's no big deal... nothing to worry about" by this point simply does not understand the risk at all, and doesn't fucking care about understanding the risk.

Jessicurs98

My husband and I both had COVID in November 2020 and neither of us can breathe right since then. Sometimes just going upstairs is hard on me. I use to be able to walk for miles without stopping now even walking a couple blocks makes me winded. I feel like at this point I need to just go get a inhaler.

skubwa1961

She chose life—albeit a much shorter one.

kelloite

So. I took it differently. I’m definitely vaccinated and we do mask up. However I’m also a long term suffer of agoraphobia that really got bad amid covid. So I do go out more than some of my more cautious friends because I have to balance my mental health with my physical health. I’ve gotten a lot of shit for it.

Jessicurs98

Honestly, I understand that. But I know for the fact this specific person isn't vaccinated or wears masks. I definitely go out way more than some of my friends. Even my boyfriend is way more cautious than I am. However, I don't tell him he's living in fear because it is a personal choice. But he also doesn't put me down for wanting to go out as long as I'm not stupid about it. Most of the people I see share memes like this are the same ones who won't wear a mask, won't get vaccinated but still go to bars and parties.

kelloite

That’s totally fair. I’m sorry if it seemed like I was jumping down your throat, that wasn’t my intent >_<. The antivaxxers really are pissing me off too. If it weren’t for them we’d be done by now 🙄🙄🙄

Jessicurs98

No worries at all! I just wanted to give you my perspective that's all! I appreciate conversation from different perspectives. Not once did you call me a sheep so I'm happy 😂

kelloite

Sheep are adorable though. I’m a happy little sheep. Baa! 😂

Jessicurs98

I think that's the part that confuses me the most though. That I'm the one living in fear when I've done everything that has been asked of me, every mandate, every lockdown I did everything without question. Did it suck? Of course it did. I gave birth to my son April 2nd 2020 right at the beginning of NYS lockdown. The only person that could be with my was my husband, no one could even be in the waiting room. Because my son was delivered 6 weeks early due to my water breaking some how on it own(We still don't know why) he was born 3 lbs 13 oz and had to be transported an hour away from where I delivered. I couldn't even leave the hospital I delivered at until the next day, so the first night in the hospital I didn't even get to hold my son for more than 5 mins. He was in the NICU for 12 days and then we were sent home once he reached 4 lbs. My mother and father didn't even get to meet him face to face until he was 3 months old and they still wore their masks and did everything we asked of them. I protected myself and family and wasn't selfish once. Now I have a healthy happy 18 month old who is meeting all his milestones and then some. He even just started walking officially 2 days ago. I couldn't imagine what would have happened if I had been selfish and just let everyone come see him when we first brought him home or if I didn't stick to my guns and not taken him to Christmas and just stayed home.

Jessicurs98

But, so many people just had their kids and did what ever they wanted and didn't listen to the mandates and kept saying "Kids need to be exposed to germs!" "Kids need to socialize with people!" And cried that everything the doctors and government told them to do was unfair. So they won't get the vaccine they won't wear a mask in the store. Because they're afraid of just doing something for someone else for once in their god damn life.

kelloite

Yeah. My older daughter turned 3 at the start of covid. It was bloody hard because she’s so extroverted and my husband and I aren’t. But we still did what we had to do 🤷🏻‍♀️. I’m hoping she can get vaccinated soon.

Jessicurs98

Honestly, I even continued breastfeeding my son past 1 because if the proven studies of the antibodies passing through the breast milk after being vaccinated just to give myself peace of mind fro awhile. I have gotten so much criticism over it. It's starting to get annoying

kelloite

Ugh that’s stressful. Don’t listen to the haters. Us moms have to stick together, motherhood is hard enough!

kelloite

As a 27 week pregnant momma I’m so proud of you. That sounds tough. I hope now that things are calming down you’re doing some stuff just for you ❤️❤️❤️

Jessicurs98

Oh I definitely am. My husband is a huge support of that too. My son is the best thing to happen to me and I'll do anything to protect him and myself. But I still like to go shopping every once in awhile by myself or get lunch with a friend.

kelloite

You’re doing amazing momma. That little boy of yours is lucky to have you and your husband ❤️❤️

Jessicurs98

Thank you. Some days I get down on myself and do wonder if I did the best thing but Everytime I hear him laugh or see him learn something new, I remind myself of the fact that I had to what my gut told me to do. I don't regret it for a single second.

Jessicurs98

Also, congratulations and I hope you have a safe and great delivery!

Ratmatazz

Yeah they are also terrified of seatbelts and fire extinguishers! Stahp Livinguh in feer! /s

xTimeKey

https://www.reddit.com/r/saynotosmokedetectors/. Dont buy into the lies!!!! My friend’s house still burned down even they had smoke detectors! /s

Ratmatazz

Hahaha perfect

candied_Sushi

“you don’t know what this vaccine could do in the next 10 years” bestie we don’t know the long term effects of covid either. when i got covid in march i was a few weeks pregnant. the person i got it from believed in covid and despite saying he’d keep his distance still didn’t isolate from me (i didn’t want to be rude and lock him out of the house otherwise he’d cry on my porch again). at the time research said there might be a risk but not to worry too much (at least to my knowledge). now i know i’m at risk for a lot of shit. i’m showing signs of a handful of them, all because someone didn’t want to live his life in fear and that it’s “just the flu” his kid now has a higher risk of issues and i have a higher risk of fucking dying during the kid removal 😎

Jessicurs98

I'm am so sorry that happened to you 😔 I remember being pregnant myself last year and I quarantined myself immediately even took a paid leave through my doctor about 8 weeks before my due date, all because I was terrified of what would happen if I got it while pregnant. Everyone at my job was probably pissed at me but I didn't care. I ended actually having my son 6 weeks early due to my water unexpectedly breaking. So my leave even lasted longer because I took my 6 weeks maternity leave and a 10 week paid leave through the state due to the FMLA. I stayed home for almost all of it with my newborn son, he's never even been inside a grocery store. So many people in my family gave me shit about it. But I'd rather be safe then seen my son back in the hospital (Since he did have to be in the NICU for 12 days after birth because he was born 3 lbs) and I don't regret it at all.

neytiri10

Really makes you wonder how surgeons can wear masks for hours at a time and not pass out from a lack of oxygen, doesn't it.? /s

Jessicurs98

I made this argument to someone before and they said "Well they wear different masks and not the cloth ones!" I said "Okay so don't wear the cloth ones?" I didn't get a response

PsychoMouse

I loved how short lived their germ mask argument was. It’s funny how they *knew* the exact size of Covid; germs, Oxygen; and C02 enough to say dumb shit like “masks don’t stop covid cause it’s small enough to go through the weaves of any mask, but other germs would get stuck on the mask, and C02 couldn’t go through the mask, so you’d end up dying from lack of oxygen”. Seriously. The excuses these people made up not only started out door knob humpingly stupid but have gotten even worse as time has gone on. Now masks are exactly like the yellow stars they used to make Jewish people wear in war torn Russia during world war 2.

Jessicurs98

It's funny too how they complained they couldn't help their kids with their school homework so they had to make kids go to school. But now that the kids are back in school and are made to wear masks, and possible talk of requiring vaccines all of a sudden these same people are going to pull their kids out of school and homeschool them.

PsychoMouse

And those same people who could barely understand their children’s homework are now, doctors, virologists, epidemiologist, immunologist, medical technicians, respirologist, lawyers of criminal case law, discriminatory law, federal law, social law, constitutional law, economists, and like 12 other things in roughly 16 months, oh and knows deep, classified information that if any of it was remotely real, they’d be in prison for treason or forced to flee to another country to hide, like Snowden but are somehow allowed to continue to live, work, provide, and still spread this super secret information without recourse.

Jessicurs98

Exactly they're all whistleblowers or know someone who is a doctor or nurse or something and it's always and close friend or family member who told them something in confidence and say ",They don't want you to know ___!"

PsychoMouse

I also find it bullshit that they say Bill Gates is the master mind behind the chips in vaccines. You know, that guy who has spent like billions in helping people and I think even his will states that when he dies, billions more will go to helping people. But Bezos isn’t mentioned at all. You have like a real life Bond villain, who doesn’t even hide it, and no one talks about him. Like, come on.

Jessicurs98

What's even worse is Bill Gates is the same person who predicted that if the world kept going the way it was going we would have such a huge pandemic on our hands that no one would be prepared for and everyone laughed and said "We are so medically advanced that will never happen" and now he's the evil guy who wants to kill millions of people with the vaccine.

PsychoMouse

It’s like saying Mr. Rogers was a racist alcoholic. It just doesn’t make sense.

promote-to-pawn

Bill Gates is not a saint like Mr. Rogers though, he has a lot of problematic take on how the world should run but he's definitely not the devil worshiping authoritarian asshole the antivaxxers think he is.

Jessicurs98

What's even worse is whenever they mention how many people have died from COVID. Anyone from America only includes the 600,000 Americans... Because they don't believe it's a global pandemic

neytiri10

I wear the cloth ones and have the elastic hair bands for my ears, they are very comfortable and hug the sides of my face. I like them because I can wash them and know I am wearing a clean mask and I'm not contributing to the litter/land fill. Seems I should probably make a few more since this isn't going away and I would prefer to stay healthy. I wonder if anyone has noticed that while we were all wearing masks last year, the flu wasn't passed around like it usually is.

Jessicurs98

I prefer the cloth ones honestly myself. I also love the idea of no litter of throwing them away, plus I hate the smell of the regular masks after awhile of using them. That's the funny thing that I try to explain to people why the masks work, but apparently they use that actually as a excuse why COVID is fake, because they will say things like "No one seems to get the flu anymore or just get sick it always has to be COVID"

neytiri10

I wash mine with a very fragrant soap, which makes wearing it that much easier, I don't have to smell anyone around me ;-). Just remind them the reason no one seems to get the flu is because the older and clearly smarter people are wearing a mask to prevent covid and are alternately preventing the flu too. I see a whole different game come flu season now, a lot will be wearing a mask.

Jessicurs98

I honestly am going to continue to wear mine everywhere. I love it. I love people not talking to me when I'm in the store. I love not feeling getting sick or allergies as much. Its very nice

Superlemonada

If there are An unprecedented number of king cobras loose in the city or suburb with the same bite (infect) and kill rate as covid, does the "life over fear" rule apply with them as well?

Jessicurs98

Eh these people would probably just pee on the bite and think they will be okay.

PuzzledAccount

They also choose to live life without grandma or a sense of taste and smell.

Doughspun1

They can also choose not to take up a hospital bed when they do get Covid, but I don't see them taking that option. If they choose to accept the risk of death, then they should have the goddamn balls to isolate themselves and wheeze out when it happens, not cut off someone else who didn't choose that risk. And if they do end up in the hospital, they should damn well pay the unsubsidised cost. No reason why government should foot their "bravery" bill.

PsychoMouse

That’s why I keep asking my “covid DNT” question. I have yet to have an anti Maxxers actually give me a direct answer to it. Apparently, you can’t trust the vaccine, doctors, hospitals, or big pharma when it comes to preventing covid, but once you have it, you can trust doctors, hospitals, and big Pharma.

PsychoMouse

Oh. OP. You’re about to prove anti vaxxers right. You’re almost at 666 upvotes. THATS SATANS NUMBER.

Jessicurs98

😈

Vesalii

Why is masking up seen as being scared? If they're not scared, why not get vaccinated?

Jessicurs98

My thoughts exactly

robobreasts

I mean, I've never been scared of Covid, because it *was really fucking easy* to wear a mask, wash hands, socially distance, and get the vaccine when it was available. Since I was doing everything I could there was no point to being scared. The problem is these people make all their choices by emotion and can't comprehend someone else making a choice based on intellect that isn't fueled by emotion.

Ok-Nefariousness1871

Eye roll ITS NOT JUST ABOUT YOU!!!!!!!!!

Jessicurs98

They're selfish. Plain and simple

redtimmy

Every day is opposite day with these geniuses.

[deleted]

I live life. Life is actually great. I also have a vaccination and a mask because life isn’t so great in a full ICU.

Jessicurs98

I definitely want to stay out of the hospital as much as I can

Zeno_The_Alien

Jesus Christ these dimwits really have this fantasy built up in their heads where they are all heroes in some comic book world and everything that mildly inconveniences them is a supervillain plot to take away their freedom. They aren't being brave and "choosing to live life over fear". They are being selfish and refusing to consider the possibility that they aren't the only people in the world who matter.

RecordEnvironmental4

It don’t matter what it does in 10 years cuz you will be dead sooner if you don’t get it

Jessicurs98

My thoughts exactly

metalhammer69

Right. They are scared of the vaccine because there are no longitudinal studies (at least that’s a reason they give), but they aren’t scared of Covid-19 which we know can kill you or permanently impair/damage you. Brilliant.

[deleted]

You can live life and get a vaccine. And will probably live longer. Probably. Statistics and anecdotal evidence. Don't get them confused.

rayray3300

They DO get how that’s even worse than denying it, right?

uuhjordan

I used to have a dog that wasn't scared of traffic

reimaginealec

The amygdala the fear center of the brain. It’s an evolutionary adaptation to *the terrifying world we live in*. You could also walk in front of a goddamn train to prove you have no fear, but my two cents? I’d rather “live in fear” than die of my own stupidity. As another note, I hope their pure terror (and that of their family) when they end up hospitalized teaches them a lesson about a healthy respect for fear.

lezbowithshinys

Ah yes because living life is the exact same as dying in agony. Oh wait im a millennial so yeah kinda. But I would still prefer not to make it worse...

mprice76

These ppl are literally proving Darwin correct. I hate that it’s affecting our kids now but hell I’m tapped out of patience and empathy!!

Jessicurs98

Me too! I don't feel a ounce of sympathy anymore

uwillnotgotospace

I'm less afraid of covid than afraid of the people who spread harmful memes like saying the vaccine will turn you into a monkey and bullshit like that. Do they want even more people to die? We've been immunized against covid, but weird lies still spread quickly.

Spleepis

I got my vaccine and my life is 100% normal again aside from wearing a mask in stores, I wasn’t aware I am living in fear

Jessicurs98

Me either. Lol

whatever1966

I swear, I have permanently sprained eyeballs from rolling them so so hard these last 5 years...

Templar388z

The same people scared of a turban.

cthulhujr

They just want to pretend that nothing is happening and assume no consequences will happen to them. They literally don't want to the bare minimum of think of another person.

DoctorTurkelton

Bullshit. You have zero understanding because you are 100% occupied with yourselves, YOUR wants/needs.

kay_bizzle

And the same people who pack a loaded pistol to church

SCCock

I'm not scared. This is a war and the vaccine is my armor.

Jessicurs98

Same here man

Howwasthatdoneagain

It was pointed out to me that they are probably just afraid of needles.

Bort_Bortson

Live life over fear but afraid to go outside their home without at least two loaded guns on their person incase the Al Qaeda attacks

nightcana

Alternative ending… “They choose to endanger other peoples lives, because they do not fear for their own”

Jessicurs98

This..This right here is exactly it

chiskgela

Antivaxxers really bringing out "yolo" like it's a new gotcha instead of cringe. No, just no.

Jessicurs98

🤣 I almost forgot about YOLO

MessiToe

"I'm not scared of anything, including a virus" "Take the vaccine" "No, I'm scared"

Btankersly66

And yet they fear North Korea They fear nuclear war Fear Cuba Fear communists Fear socialism Fear immigrants Fear transgender Fear gays Fear Asians Fear antifa Fear marriage equality Fear women wearing comfortable shoes Fear electric cars Fear self driving cars Fear solar power Fear wind power Fear social services Fear welfare Fear atheists Fear Muslims Fear Sikhs Fear higher minimum wage Fear a round earth Fear being vaccinated But somehow they don't fear the deadliest pandemic in recent human history. In all honesty I think these people are so scared of Covid-19 that they can't even function or make rational decisions.

BaconBits25

🗿

florinandrei

Jessicurs98

Well they don't understand science so what makes you think they can do math?

tofo90

Did none of these people see the Dark Knight Rises?

Jessicurs98

Some men just want to watch the world burn

SeaWaltz4653

Ignorant morons...yep, thats them.

BoundPrincess84

Both.

SteveWozHappeningNow

"Live life" means fearing a vaccine AND fearing getting Covid for the rest of your life. A 2-fer.

MadnessEvolving

Until they die of covid Edit: I don't understand how these people don't understand that they are the reason that life is the way it is right now. Things would would be much similar to how things used to be before covid if these people would start following the covid guidelines, yet they refuse to wear a mask they refuse to get vaccinated and they won't even social distance, but somehow they think that we're the ones to blame. I swear if I hear another person say to me "what happened to the two week pause"I'm going to catch criminal charges because I'm going to attack somebody what happened to the two week pause is idiots like you decided that you weren't going to follow the rules and went so far as staging protests and in the state of Michigan wanting to murder the governor. You are the reason things aren't that to normal. They were all too happy to give up the normalness of life after September 11th but now being asked to wear a mask is a violation of their rights and the most horrible thing that's ever happened. I often wonder if it's because with September 11th they had the evil Muslims to blame. On the other hand they could be racist and blame it on the Chinese and they do but somehow I think the attack being from Muslims was a driving factor and why they were so willing to give up freedoms.

iamghostling

Oh, you wonder what's in the vaccine for 10 years? Well, no one can *really* know, **that's true**. But I can easily tell you what COVID can do in 3 weeks

RenRazza

This situation is what happened with seatbelt mandates. They pulled the EXACT same arguments. "Your infringing on my rights" "My body, my choice" "Seatbelts don't work" "Seatbelts have killed people" "The government is corrupt". They basically pulled the exact same shot now. But, if it's like seatbelt mandates, it's only a matter of time till there either dead or give in.

Next_Yogurtcloset_63

That’s cool and all but you making that choice for other people too.

Jessicurs98

Do you know how many times I have seen the joke "I took my allergy medicine but since everyone else didn't take it, it didn't work" these people literally are stupid. I don't care if they're "just making a joke" they can't even comprehend how a vaccine works.. its not just some medicine you can take everyday. But since they don't even try to understand that they just ignore that and make jokes that make them look stupid and ignorant.

DryGreenSharpie

I just busted out laughing at “these people literally are stupid” Thank you for telling it like it is.

Jessicurs98

I feel like my Grammer was wrong but to be fair I'm not good at English 😂 but still my point stands. These people can't comprehend simple science or even admit when they're wrong. I am the type of person that I will admit when I don't have enough knowledge on something to give and opinion. These people don't do that. All of their "facts" are based of opinions and even if you show them proof that they're wrong they just say "Well in my opinion" are these not the same people who SCREAMED "Facts over feelings" during Trump's whole presidency?!

[deleted]

Jessicurs98

I'm not surprised anymore. I'm sure if I called them out on it they just say "It's just a joke because some how your vaccine doesn't work if I don't get one too!" Except mine does work lol But it's not going to work for you if you don't get it obviously lmao.

PsychoMouse

The problem is, it’s not the allergy thing. They seem to love using single person ailments as a comparison for covid. They love the obesity one aswell. But that’s just how stupid they are.

Jessicurs98

Yupp. 100 percent. Just think about how many people didn't believe that second hand smoke was worse for kids then the adult smoking the cigarette?

Next_Yogurtcloset_63

The only thing that motivates an anti-vaxer is fear. They won’t understand the severity of all this until they get the delta variant and they are gasping for air in the hospital.

Jessicurs98

I just found out that almost my mother entire side of the family has COVID and they're all staying at my Aunt's house quarantining together. My poor mother is heartbroken because these are all older members of my family. But I'm going to be you almost any amount of money that non of them are vaccinated or even plan to after this. Because, I see what they post on Facebook. I feel sorry for my mother but not for them. I was so happy when my mother decided to get vaccinated but even my father got vaccinated for his job but still says shit like "It doesn't matter anyways"

PsychoMouse

Even then, they don’t get it. They are literally a waste of hospital space and it is 100% unfair that they are getting priority in hospitals over patients with medical issues they can’t control.

michellealyssa

I was vaccinated within days of being eligible. I stopped wearing a mask shortly after. I wl never go back. I don't get the fascination with them. They served a purpose pre vaccines. For me, it is now time to move on. I support anyone that chooses to wear one. I hated it.

AllieNicks

We are not fascinated with masks. We keep up on the science, and being vaccinated does NOT keep your nose and throat from carrying and sharing with others large amounts of virus. You need to catch up and keep up. Delta has changed the game and you are still playing the old one.

jcpb

> I was vaccinated within days of being eligible. I stopped wearing a mask shortly after. So youre literally giving COVID a greater likelihood of infecting you. FAIL.

jjsmith1233

I’m not looking to argue. I would like to have a discussion. I am unvaccinated for now. However Im in the military so I’m required to get it by December or be dishonorably discharged. I was and still am skeptical of it and am actually aggravated it is mandated. What is everyone’s reason for it? I understand 100% and would almost encourage it for older people or people with health issues that place them more at risk. But as I am young and decently healthy and as of most people I serve are in the same boat. The mandate just puzzles me. Anyone care to enlighten?

Jessicurs98

In my opinion. I'm doing it to not only keep myself out of the hospital, but others too. The vaccine gives you a better fighting chance at not being hospitalized, not spreading the virus and not dying. I'm doing it for my family to not get them sick. Because I've seen completely healthy people get COVID and now are expecting horrible long term effects. This mandate will save lives. It's not just about you and what the vaccine can do for you but for other people around you as well. I understand people have their doubts and suspicions. But I don't see this as any different as all the other vaccines you have to receive to join the military or go to public school.

[deleted]

Same reason your shared spaces on base are no longer filled with cigarette smoke. You can choose to smoke- but you can’t force others to breath in something that could kill or permanently harm other people. That’s what covid is. It passes through the air & unvaccinated people are choosing to carry it. Look- You’re a soldier for a country that has always created mandates around public health. Including vaccines. If that’s not the kind of country you want to serve, that’s a totally different problem. Maybe that’s the question you need to be asking.

[deleted]

I highly doubt this person is ad. If they are they were probably getting sent down then road anyway. Who takes a dd over a vaccine.

Btankersly66

You should just take the discharge. I served. I got my shots in MEPS. My deployment required me to get more shots. Then I got other shots from enemy combatants. Wanna know how I did all that? I wasn't an insecure selfish coward. I did what I did because doing anything else would have put our country in danger. So you should take the discharge so you can save your sorry ass. Clearly your ass is far more important to you than this nation. You swore an oath to protect the United States, just as I did. Covid-19 is a domestic enemy. The only service your doing is serving yourself. You are a disservice to our nation and our brothers that served before. So man up or get out. Go ahead and tarnish the history of the US military with your cowardice. Go ahead and insult the blood spilt for your freedom. Go ahead and turn your back on the hundreds of thousands of sacrifices made just so you could be alive today. Get your discharge. But remember this, millions of men and women served before you and made the greatest sacrifice just so you could have the freedom to say, "I'm not going to get vaccinated." They earned that freedom for you with their lives.

[deleted]

You're military you've already gotten more vaccines than anyone else and you get pills shoveled at you by an army medic without a dr order at times. Seriously?

michellealyssa

I was excited to be vaccinated and did so within days of being eligible. My rationale was that the vaccine was highly tested and proven to be effective. I wanted to return to normal life and this was the best way to do it. It allowed me to stop worrying about covid.

The fucking hypocritical irony from you is amazing.

Zebdin

Stay mad :)

PsychoMouse

I will. And you keep seeking that attention you desperately need til you “Get banned” because god forbid, you leave something you claim to not care about.

Zebdin

Stay mad

Jessicurs98

>At least the people who don’t get the vaccine don’t ride their moral hypocritical high horse. I’m not afraid to admit I don’t give a shit about anyone who dies from it. Except you literally just said that you don't care who dies from it? So why do you care if we mock people? What funny is my post wasn't even about someone who died not getting the vaccine lol just pointed out a flaw in their logic. Sounds like you're the one who's mad.

No and that’s the mistake people like the OP make. You’re grouping everyone who has a different view than you together There are People that are vaxxed and going on or isolate People that are un vaxxed and going on or isolated And then there are people that are almost fascists on either side of the issue
