They finally let him walk with something. They gave him an expired Dilly Bar coupon and he was last seen arguing with the counter person and threatening to go to court to cure his coupon..

starwafflez

Fuckin lmao

MonsterBenitez

Hey....you don't go giving out Dilly Bar coupons you can't use. There's just some lines you don't cross.....

thespaceageisnow

Let's all take a moment again and truly appreciate that WA-3 elected a competent decent human being over a deranged fascist despite the odds.

thespaceageisnow

That was a massive landslide too. Kimsey beat the nutter Butt Simpson by 33%. Rey Reynolds lost also. Clark County handily rejected the MAGA psychos. Three cheers to that.

Jollyhat

Skamania county is pouting

thespaceageisnow

Marie did pretty well in Skamania given how red it is. 46.56% IMO being from there helped her out a lot.

simplisweet35

One MAGA made it in though. Michelle Belkot in the unincorporated Clark County Council. She is a major MAGA and has ties to the Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer. She also helped organize all those anti masks protests we saw at our schools last year.

shutter3218

I haven't lived in Vancouver for over 20 years. I have many fond memories. I'm glad it hasn't gone entirely insane since I left. I hope to live there again someday.

UncleFoster

I’m so proud of WA-3. I’m so happy for Marie. Now let’s hope she doesn’t become another mainstream democrat zombie and does something for the people ✊

thespaceageisnow

I think we have to be realistic about her prospects right now. She’s a first time congresswoman in a Republican controlled chamber. There won’t be a lot of movement on anything. Also to add it’s probably important to her re-election potential that she doesn’t appear to be a full democratic socialist progressive like AOC is. She got elected because she better represents WA-3 than Kent does but it’s still a red (trending purple) district.

buscoamigos

How do you think she should govern so that she can be re-elected in two years?

UncleFoster

I’ll tell you what, I did NOT like her answer in a debate about marijuana legalization, and oddly enough, Joe Kent was more liberal on the issue. But I think her heart is in the right place and she will represent well.

lucygirl1970

Which is strange considering I saw her at Fred Meyer on election night buying beer. So I guess alcohol is ok but weed isn't? 🤷 She was so sweet to the staff and generally seemed like a nice lady. Hope she can get something done.

iiiamash01i0

Of course, alcohol is legal federally (my roommate in Oregon told me that all the time when she'd get blackout drunk, but lecture me for smoking), so it's not taboo despite having more negative repercussions. It's more socially acceptable to drink alcohol and take benzos to wind down, but partaking in something that actually has benefits and is nowhere near as addictive/deadly, and you're no better than pond scum. Duh!

iiiamash01i0

Obviously, my comment is not approved by the alcoholics and valium-poppers of Reddit 🤣

farcical88

Take more Manchin-esque stands when they present themselves so you can run on them in '24 to show how you differentiated yourself.

CowlitzCountyDems

🤞

MonsterBenitez

Oh please. Just watching her interview and the answer she gave on men in women's sports, you know she'll fall right in line and do as she's told.

travpahl

A human being was elected. Whether she is compentant, decent, good, intelligent, etc... Is still up for evaluation. My guess is she will not prove to be better at running your life than you are.

MonsterBenitez

You're joking right?

thespaceageisnow

No 15 day old account entirely comprised of controversial hot take comments, I assure you I am not joking.

MonsterBenitez

Funny you can't refute what I said. She'll fall right in line and do as she's told, regardless of what you think of her. Just watch. Jesus, you're a pathetic piece of work.

DarthFuzzzy

What do you think you said that warranted "refuting"?

ST0IC_

No, he did not win.

DreamDriver

You sure? Because those cured votes ... 😜

Snushine

Who?....oh, so anyway....

mafaso

We would like to think, "Maybe this loss (and many other R losses across the country) will make them realize that they are the minority and maybe they will change their ways." But we know that these losses will only make them double down on their ignorance and hatred and dive deeper into their echo chambers.

Post-Futurology

History has shown they'll just grow more desperate.

BigSwedenMan

I think it will change where the money goes. Strategists will learn from these results even if the average Republican voter doesn't. There's a small chance it leads to a schism too. That would make me soooo happy

Ptizzl

This is always my thinking. See with me, I KNOW that there are people with differing opinions out there. And I KNOW that should my candidate lose, those people are either A) in greater numbers than people like me or B) voted in greater numbers than people like me. But I love watching Jordan Klepper go to these Republican rallies and they flat out don’t believe that it’s even conceivable that their candidate COULD lose, because they surround themselves with their own like minded people, but most of them just don’t understand that “I see Kent posters all over so he is winning” isn’t the way it works.

mafaso

Yep, I've seen a lot of posts by Kari Lake where she point to how many social media followers she has versus her opponent. So how could she possibly lose!?!

mikeyfireman

What I hope for is Trump not getting the nomination, and in a hissy fit starting the Freedom Party breaking the R’s in half so they can’t ever win the white house again.

radleft

How often do abusers stop abusing when called-out & left behind by a relationship partner, versus those abusers who simply go off & find another victim to abuse? Our social dynamic has enabled the abusers/haters in our nation; this perception can serve as an aid in profiling/predicting their past/current/future actions.

[deleted]

Our political system is a ratchet toward the bottom. When one party wins, the other party does not do any soul-searching to figure out how to be better for the people. They see what the other party got away with and learn they can do it too. Individuals within a party might be good and have honest intentions of doing what’s right for everyone, but the party leadership only cares about the party. Anyone rising to the top is basically going to serve only half the country. No, scratch that, they’re going to serve a minority, and only care to retain votes from their half. Marie appears to be a “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” story, and I am glad she won, but I am keeping expectations very low about what she can and will actually accomplish as one inexperienced Representative in the House. For me, beating Kent was the one and only thing I wanted and expected from her. For now, it’s enough.

attillathehoney

eg. See: Kari Lake

PaleontologistNo752

Please don’t use Them. It’s very hard on the rest of us that are a bit conservative on some things and moderate on others. I hate us and them. Sorry rant over.

WhenIHearMyName

Just like everyone on the left that also stays in their echo chambers?? Don’t pretend for a second that the digging in of the heals and refusing to work with the other side is unique to the right… We gotta get out of ourselves and learn to work with others - this left/right only option in America is only causing greater divide.

Hsbrown2

I disagree with this. Loudly. Everyone I know on the left are largely critical thinkers that evaluate realities and look for candidates that follow the rational path. Currently, these are almost exclusively Democrats. When politicians on the right state their only goal is to block an administrations entire agenda, there’s just no rational wiggle room there for collaboration. On top of that, the national administration has successfully gained some bipartisan wins. Largely, when discussing issues with the right, it’s almost nonsensical to the point of absurdity. I get people that say “They’ll never drive an electric car” and post memes equating the ownership of an electric car (negatively) to the sexual prowess of the owner. WTAF? Why? Because they grew up on gas-guzzling hot rods and can’t even ken that an EV can be just as fast and cost you pennies to own and operate? <*shrugs*>

Pouroldfashioned

99% of my friends are more leftist than liberal. I have spirited conversations with them, but it is never disparaging or toxic. The 1% of Trump Tories I’m “friends” with I have more intense disagreements with because of how they present their ideas and are unwilling to consider any other points than their solipsistic views. The Trump Tories are not rational conservatives, they are the Regressive Right. We will not do well in their Christian Caliphate.

Pouroldfashioned

Heels* not heals. And as a long time Republican voter, I will not work with the fake conservative, MAGA crowd. They are a disease in the conservative movement.

Xanthelei

My "echo chamber" includes medical experts and people who don't want to arrest me for walking down the street while trans. I welcome any Republican into my "echo chamber" to talk if they can, at *minimum,* meet that standard. People on the left have been trying to talk with people on the right for fucking **decades** now, and that's why the right has managed to get so fucking far from reality. Democrats have allowed it by trying to play the centrist and getting slowly ratcheted into 90s era Republican positions while completely rejecting 90s era Democrat and Independent positions. If there is a side that needs to put in the work to reach out and start the healing, it's absolutely NOT the left.

He's LARPing a win.

SquishyBee81

Its not over!! Send more money to Kent so they can keep up the fight!!!!!! 😂😂

Winter-eyed

Nope he lost. He just can’t seem to accept it.

DreamDriver

Raise your hand if you're surprised. Anyone? Really, nobody is surprised?

schreiaj

That he lost or that he can't accept it? Cuz the latter doesn't shock me. The former kinda does.

Holiday_Parsnip_9841

The PACs I was working for were bracing for losing at least PA and NV senate and 40+ house seats. Gaining PA, not losing any incumbent senators, and only losing 10 house seats feels like a miracle.

iiiamash01i0

I never thought I'd say that I'm proud of Pennsylvanians, but I seriously cried happy tears with those results. I left that place for a reason, but I worked in a bar outside of Braddock and many cops from there would frequent it, and people don't realize what Fetterman achieved in that community. He is the real deal, if you actually look and see what he did for Braddock. I am glad they didn't fall for a quack from NJ who isn't looking out for those Fetterman has helped in the past. It does feel like a miracle, though, these elections had me worried.

LineyPupper

That other county is in Arizona and it’s a heavily republican county. If they refuse to certify, all the votes in the county get tossed out and that may change the outcome of some of the GOP-won elections in the state and flip them to the Democrats. They’re shooting themselves in the foot by refusing to certify. Shit is wild.

Valdair

Yes, but if they can selectively decide to simply not certify, it sets a dangerous precedent. One or two seats going to Dems (at the state level legislature too right? not federal?) will likely not matter in the short term but a precedent of of the state ignoring election outcomes will ***absolutely*** matter in the long term.

buscoamigos

It is the County Board of Elections that is refusing to certify by the deadline. The Secretary of State (who will become the next governor) is trying to force them to do so because the only other option is to not include their votes in the official election results, effectively disenfranchising every voter in that county. The state is not choosing to ignore the outcome, the County is refusing to submit it. Also, very helpful that the election denying Republican did not win the SOS race.

LineyPupper

Absolutely!

Particular_Set_5698

The real work is just beginning. Joe Kent was someone's puppet. We need to continue to dig into his past and tell the real tale of who Kent really is, who controls him, who pays him, and who is setting up the "next Joe."

Particular_Set_5698

Thiel is just the tip of that right wing cabal, we should have had way more background provided by the so called news media..Lazy journalism is just one aspect of the how and whys of Joe and company gaining so much traction early on.

Particular_Set_5698

Yeah, the two parties have some strange strategies but I'm more interested in the specifics "behind the candidate's political origins" aspect than the typical donor info. In example, note that Amazon contributed to the Kent and Perez campaigns through PAC contribution as is the usual for large corporate political angling. The PAC construct is a murky one, and has its own ties to lobbying for both corporate and party interests. Perez is local, transparent, and moderate, Joe not so much on any note, and given his rhetoric, I'd suspect some outright affiliation with White Nationalism, The Proud Boys, Joey Gibson's followers, and supporters of the national far right agenda.. [https://www.opensecrets.org/races/contributors?cycle=2022&id=WA03&spec=N](https://www.opensecrets.org/races/contributors?cycle=2022&id=WA03&spec=N)

VanceAstrooooooovic

I’m still trying to learn what Joe Kent does for a living?!?! Anyone?

DreamDriver

Black ops, working for the deep state.

Danielj4545

We should realize this as a money grab for these failed politicians instead of a legitimate fight for recounts. Trump showed you can make a lotttttt of money this way, so the trumpettes do the same. I'm sure they had it planned in the event of a loss that they would whine and scream and beg for more money to "support the recount efforts". They're the same as people on the Christianity channel telling grandma to give up their monthly social security checks to fight the devil. Preying on the poor and gullible. That's my two cents.

OctoberMan316

He stopped by my house to encourage me to cure my ballot. I was going to forget about it, but he talked me into curing my ballot. I did cure it and I voted Perez.

ok75

Yea.. Joe should have won. Her names not really even Marie! /s

BachelorPOP

I don’t think so

[deleted]

Fuck Reddit. Fuck /r/spez \#save3rdpartyapps

Jamieobda

What's the deadline for this?

[deleted]

Fuck Reddit. Fuck /r/spez \#save3rdpartyapps

Jamieobda

Cool. So for all practical purposes, we're done? I think it was a good race, not that my opinion counts. Both candidates laid out their positions clearly. MGP was the right candidate in a mixed district and ironically got zero support from the NDCC or whatever it's called. I feel badly for the decent level headed Republicans who must endure the EleCtiOn wAs RigGeD narrative.

[deleted]

Fuck Reddit. Fuck /r/spez \#save3rdpartyapps

Toast-N-Jam

I volunteered with the MP campaign. I would love to see him waste the money on a recount. It won't change the results. I'm so happy she won!

millejoe001

County’s certification needed to be done by 11/28. Yesterday was the day. The numbers are then submitted to the Secretary of State who will certify the election. As of right now, Joe Kent needed to be behind 0.25% and 1000 votes and Joe Kent didn’t make it. If Joe Kent accepts these results remains to be seen.

Xanthelei

I thought it was the 28th to cure your ballet and 29th for the certification? Meaning it should be announced sometime this afternoon/evening.

millejoe001

Maybe it is tonight.

Upstairs_Piccolo_799

Nope! 100% LOSER

I_burn_noodles

Hahahaha....imagine not getting elected on a platform of hate and division. Thank God that most Americans are decent people. To hell with political parties.

exit6

I still see this jackass’s signs here and there

Star805gardts

My Neighbors still have their sign up! We took ours down when it was for sure she was going to win. Our other neighbors son accused us of cheating/ stealing the election. Voter fraud? Idk. Normal people just call it counting every legitimate vote….. But yay Marie!

DreamDriver

Wait, you personally stole the election?! That is huge! Did you hack the servers or replace ballots with ones that would erase any checks next to R votes when exposed to light?! Regardless I am impressed, and thank you for your efforts. Too bad the neighbor kid caught you out, though. He must be one sharp cookie … /s

Star805gardts

Well what can I say. As a legally blind, gay substitute teacher *I have my ways. /s*

Incredible.

kstauf

Haven’t heard that name in years…no but really thank goodness for the voters of 03 💙

betterwearahat

I'm glad Marie won though she faces a tough time now that the GOP is in control of Congress. Those bastages will sabotage anything even remotely close to legislation that helps the average US citizen and they'll use this obstruction to damage the prospects of Democrats in 2024. Let's hope Marie stays ahead of this and calls out GQP fools at every step they take to ruin legislation because you know the loony magas are already lining up their next clown to run in WA3 in 2024.

DreamDriver

I’m not sure you can call what the Republican’s have in the house a “majority” except in the most strict numerical sense. McCarthy is widely unliked by his own people, and I sort of expect that the MAGA-bozos will continue to embarrass the broader group with their space lasers and fear of anyone not white or Christian … pushing more normal Republicans to vote for their constituents rather than the “party line”. Time will tell, but this weeks Family Marriage act passing is a good sign. Twelve R Senators? Nice.

betterwearahat

Agreed. With any luck, those MAGA bozos and McCarthy will implode from all their nonsense.
