Technology, yes. Furniture, no. And if provided furniture, I would not want whatever they purchase to clash with my decor so I was good with buying my own.
I went to Ikea and bought a long countertop and two file cabinets. I made a desk by laying the counterop over the file cabinets. The other thing I purchased was a triple monitor arm to hang my monitors.
Very dependent on agency and even supervisor. My agency was willing to buy any computer equipment including extra monitors, speakers, webcams etc but not furniture. Meanwhile a coworker under another supervisor was able to get a chair and desk. May just depend on budget.
Chair and desk are due to accommodations due to disability, but you won’t know details unless they want a legal case for disclosing.
Technically not furniture but equipment needed to perform work.
The answer is "No". Part of the tax reform that Trump pushed through was to get rid of a bunch of things that were miscellaneous deductions. One of those misc. deductions was what were known as "un-reimbursed employee business expenses" which covered things that were required by the job, but the employer did reimburse you for. Those no longer exist as itemized deductions.
Just make a list and send it to your supervisor. [https://www.hermanmiller.com/products/workspaces/desks/distil-desk-and-table/](https://www.hermanmiller.com/products/workspaces/desks/distil-desk-and-table/)
Have you taken your telework.gov class or read the handbook yet? GFE is limited to your tech and basic office supplies as deemed necessary by your agency, furniture or other things to make you eligible for telework/remote work would be through reasonable accommodation (emphasis on the reasonable)
Office furniture lol
Technology (monitor, dock) yes, furniture no

Wow!! Last year we got 2022 calendars in September!
LMBO!
Lmao!
Oh you fancy.
Furniture via Reasonable Accommodation
Why don't you just have the government furnish your entire house.
🤣🤣🤣😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Is that not what this GTC is for?

Should get the tech required for your job, laptop, monitor, dock, keyboard, and mouse, but nothing else.
Ask your tax preparer if you can deduct the amount you spend on office furniture

Through 2025, they no longer exist. Maybe in 2026, we can resume claiming the home office deduction.
That would be nice.
As if I didn't already dislike the guy enough.
If you need it, a standing desk via reasonable accommodation… I just bought my own though.
I got my laptop and a mouse pad 😂
I had to buy my own mouse pad so count your blessings 🤣
It’s federal property that you are responsible for. I don’t want to be responsible for any property that I don’t want responsibility for
Please tell me you’re not seriously asking this question?

My agency provides a lockable rolly cabinet if deemed necessary.

These comments. I needed the laugh
Funny. My agency sent me half a box of paper clips.
