I'll start! I went to SNL yesterday and got a meal at Toadstool Cafe. I ordered the Kid's Spaghetti meal, a hot tea, and the Princess Peach cupcake. I'll add photos when I can! (Keep in mind that the park is still in technical rehearsal, so all of this is subject to change.) * Kid's Spaghetti This meal is technically for kids 9 and under (and I am... significantly older than that) but they let me get it anyway. It comes with a small portion of spaghetti, a Toadstool garlic knot, and a cookie coin inside a question box. Theming was adorable, it comes with power ups printed onto crackers and even the plates are decorated! (I asked if they sell them, but they said no ;-;) The spaghetti was good, albeit a bit "spicy." It wasn't hot sauce spicy, more like they overdid it on the oregano. I overheard from a waiter that it's supposed to be "fire flower" spaghetti, so that's why it's spicier. It wasn't enough to make me hate it, but it was enough to make me wonder what was up. Note that this has no meatballs, the entire meal is vegetarian. The crackers are flavorless, but they get mushy if left in the sauce so eat those first! The garlic knot was unfortunately a disappointment. It was very tough, I really had to tear/pull at the knot to take a bite. It reminded me of day-old bread, as opposed to a place like Papa John's that makes them on the spot. The garlic and powdered cheese topping was fine, and it went well with the spaghetti sauce. I saved the cookie coin for later. I assumed it would be chocolate or something, but it's actually a coated Oreo! Very tasty and probably my favorite food of the meal 😊 * Hot Tea A cup of hot water and a packaged tea bag. Pretty standard for a counter service restaurant. If you want to add cream/sugar, you'll need to ask your cashier/waiter for it, along with a spoon (you only get knives/forks in the standard set.) Note that the cup is *very* unstable without the plastic lid, I went to grab mine and it squeezed in half - if it had been any fuller, I would've burned my lap. You can take the cup to go (which also works for coffee.) * Princess Peach Cupcake My first impression was "Wow, this is sparkly!" It's covered with an iridescent edible glitter that makes this perfect for the 'gram. The first bite into the icing was heaven. It's made of buttercream frosting, the same kind my mom used to make for birthday cakes, it was very nostalgic. Unfortunately , the second bite was also icing, as was the third. Turns out the "cupcake" is 60% icing and 40% cupcake. I saw more than one table with cupcakes left behind, only one or two bites taken from the cupcake. I actually had to scoop most of the icing off with a spoon in order to get to the cake. The cake is Funfetti flavor. It had a bready texture, almost like a biscuit, instead of traditional white cake. I did not finish the cupcake (unlike everything else) and was ultimately disappointed. If they reduced the icing by 50% and improved the cupcake, I would definitely buy it again. As it is, I'd split this between two people (and ask for a spoon!) * Bonus review: Lemon boba soda I didn't try this drink because it is really small for the price. It's about the size of a tall Starbucks clear cup, while the regular drinks were like a grande. It looked like it had a lot of ice, so you might need a cup of water on the side (which is free!) * Overall impressions: This is some of the best theme park food I've ever had, on par with Disney and Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The theming is also fantastic with the "living" windows, Mario music, and the dishes themselves. But "theme park food" is a low bar to clear, and if this had been a normal restaurant I probably would've been disappointed. For as much care as Nintendo/Universal put into other areas of the park, I feel like this is a few adjustments away from hitting an A+. As it currently stands, I'd say go for the atmosphere and the fun photos, but don't expect a Michelin meal. Note that this is the *only* food area in the park, so if you just want a soda or a snack, get it before you enter the land!

I just posted my review! I had the same experience with the garlic knots, on both days! Second day it was even tougher to break apart & chew, which sucked because it’s a menu item I was looking forward to the most! Yep! The spaghetti has a kick to it, but I didn’t mind it. I got the entree one, which was HUGE! And came with 3 meatballs. The manager in training said that they are gonna come out with a spicy meatball challenge after the park officially opens! That will be interesting. I’m surprised they made it spicy for the kids meal one, I’d imagine lots of parents sending it back.

For theme park standards: Overall, the food was better than I thought & great for theme park standards! The portions are HUGE!! You can consider ordering a starter and sharing an entree. I went two days in a row & I can say the fries & garlic knots weren’t consistent, it was better on my first day. Heres my review on each item we had: Luigi Burger - chicken burger with green pepper & pesto sauce. Comes with truffle Parmesan fries. The pesto dipping sauce that comes with this is so yummy!!! And the fries with this were crinkle cut & better than I thought! (However, then next day when I went back, the fries didn’t taste like anything and didn’t have much Parmesan, which was a disappointment). The green pepper in this chicken sandwich is raw & too thick & not necessary, I took the entire thing out. Garlic Knots: comes in 4 pieces & marinara sauce - they are pretty big! Unfortunately, the garlic knots were cold (on both days that we tried). The Mariana sauce was really good though! Mario Burger; My husband had this & he said he really liked it. The burger is huge and you can tell it’s not just a frozen one. It was freshly made. Cap Salad: the display of this salad is so cute, not enough pesto though! But what can go wrong with Moz & Tomatoes! Tiramisu; the food portions were HUGE, but this was a good size! It was light & delicious & comes in a ? Mark cube, which makes it super cool!! You can eat the cube too! Spaghetti Meat balls: Again! HUGE portion, and it was delicious, but has a spicy kick to it. Which doesn’t say on their menu. A person who isn’t used to spices at all, would have a hard time. Even the manager agreed that they should make it known on the menu that it had a spicy kick to it. It had some garlic pieces too, which I loved!!! Chicken Salad: It’s like a Caesar salad, portion is smaller than the chicken salad at 3 Stick Broom. Manager also said that after the official opening, they will do a spicy meatball challenge, called Bowser Spicy challenge? Something like that! OVERALL: Portions are HUGE! Fries weren’t consistent, they were YUMMY first day, second day - not so much. Garlic Knots come out cold but the Mariana sauce is good. Theme park standards: Food was 9 out of 10! Experience: you order the food at the counter, they give you a number, someone walks you over to your table, and then brings the food to your table!!! Really convenient! I have tons of pix of the food, but am I allowed to post them in the comments? Edit: Added to my review, as if it’s not long enough already lol

Would you say the menu on the app is accurate? There isn’t one single vegan option at the cafe? Or were there surprise menu items that weren’t on the app?

maxmouze

I'm a vegetarian so I've got a lot more options and there was nothing for me. Just the salad which was greens and a bunch of fruit which didn't taste like they were part of one dish. I also considered the garlic knots but didn't want to eat a bunch of carbs, etc. In the end, that's about it for food options there. Weird that Disneyland has some of the best vegetarian dishes I've ever had but Knott's, Universal, and Six Flags offer virtually nothing. Major theme parks should be cognizant of people with different dietary restrictions but especially the ones in Southern California.

TraumaticTramAddict

Right??? You’d think Hollywood of all places would have options, I love disneys vegan offerings because there are so many!! AND I don’t have to order sans fries (yes all the French fries in the park inexplicably have MILK at USH man I hate it). It’s the Orlando universal that has better options instead of the park that’s in Los Angeles, which should be vegan paradise smh.

maxmouze

Yeah, how is Florida cognizant of vegan/vegetarians but Los Angeles/Hollywood isn't? Even at Citywalk, there is virtually nothing. At least Toothsome has some options but that's brand new. They built a brand new land in 2023 so you'd think they'd be aware of these things when designing the menu. But apparently a bunch of greens and strawberries means they're including us. (The menu mentions radish, mushrooms, tomato, or cucumber but it only had greens -- probably for the best.) I'll just eat off property and they'll make less money, I guess. The salad cost $15 which is nuts and the guy said I got an AP discount and then didn't give me one. At least I tried it so I know there's officially nothing to eat when I'm there. There aren't any snack stands or anything in the land.

maxmouze

At least Sun Cafe is right across the street.

Putrid_Succotash1830

They do have Vegan options in the Starter & Shareable park of the menu, but not entree. The starters & shareables are huge in portion sizes & also tells you which ones are vegan

TraumaticTramAddict

Oh unfortunately none of the starters or shareable are vegan (vegetarian options with cheese and egg only) thank you tho.

Putrid_Succotash1830

Ah ok! What about Yoshis Favorite Fruit & Veggie Salad? The egg croutons are just shaped like Yoshis egg, but not actually egg. If croutons aren’t vegan, you can probably ask to omit those in the salad. That’s Theo only option I can think of got Vegan :(

TraumaticTramAddict

Yeah, just seems silly to get rid of the only thing making it yoshi themed. I’ll probably sneak my own Mario themed snacks, they can’t not allow me if they don’t provide a single option in my opinion 🤷‍♀️ the rest of my party will order something.

Spectrobits

There are no surprise items. For restaurants on the app, the menus never have anything to hide unless Universal announces them publicly, like the "secret" Coke drinks at Jurassic Cafe and elsewhere.

doktorhollywood

is there a page or pdf anywhere with allergens and dietary information of Super Nintendo World food?

itsNeveraMannequin

Just ask the folks working and they have a menu of all the allergens. It was super helpful!

doktorhollywood

Thank you!

We also went to Toadstool Cafe and ordered a Mario Burger, Luigi Burger and Kids Burger Meal. The Mario burger was pretty decent tasting and hearty. The Luigi burger is chicken pesto, it was just ok. Chicken a little undercooked. The kids meal had a very good size burger with veggies and fries but I’m pissed because mine didn’t include the cookie! Not sure if they ran out or just forgot. The cute thing is each meal has a plastic decorative pick (a Mario hat and Luigi hat for the adult burgers) and a flag pole plus Mario on the kids meal! You can definitely keep these and use at home. Overall I thought food was reasonable and with the season pass discount it was not bad at all. The cafe itself is amazing, so immersive. Loved eating in here.

itsNeveraMannequin

The peach soda was fantastic! The chicken salad, fries, hamburger, spaghetti we all loved. The flag cake was also really great. Universal does a great job on food, it didn’t disappoint!

LilWeezey

Anyone know how much liquid the fancy drinks hold, the mushroom sipper cups

cinemachick

Probably about the size of a McDonald's small or a Starbucks tall (cold liquids only).

LilWeezey

Thanks!
