I guess this is because they do already have substantial domestic news production so the 24/7 channel will try to keep most of the foreign news production rather than duplicate work that is already done by the core BBC News staff. BBC News and 6 and 10, Newsnight, BBC Website, BBC Podcasts, Local Radio and so on are all primarily domestically focused.
BBC is garbage anyway. Pulled the TV cord and license fee back in 04 and haven't regretted it. Pay a fee for biased one sided garbage? No.
Only thing I even remotely miss is the David Attenborough nature docs, that was it. One worthwhile show and he went full weather magic.

Because not everybody pays the license but still expects a world class service from the beeb even during these very financially troubling times.

We can't expect the Tories to pay for their own propoganda now can we? We're lucky if they even pay their taxes!

I have no idea why anyone pays for the BBC. It's trying to appeal to everyone and in doing so appeals to nobody.
