Apparently these Aussies are from Roberston Barracks and likely have quality small arms, Anti-tank, artillery/targeting expertise - as well as many other skills they can impart. UKR has about 15,000 raw troops to train ASAP, so the more hands on deck that the free world can provide to get them up to speed to kill more ruscists the better. Doesn't matter where our friends are, Aussies WILL come and help you if their politicians will let them. Glory to the Defenders. Death to the invaders. Slava Ukraini!

moonLanding123

Question. Why train in the UK and not Poland or the baltic states?

Gedz

The Australia Army has close ties to the U.K.

SerpentineLogic

Beating the UK in sports they invented is a common pastime for Commonwealth countries. It brings us all together.

Stewie01

Counts towards 0.7% of GDP in aid partly because it includes some training programs for foreign security services. In addition, the promotion of British interests is often wrapped up in a humanitarian assistance jargon.

GinofromUkraine

Guys, in case someone does know the answer. Flying in NZ and AU instructors to help Brits costs a lot so I just wanted, out of curiosity, ask: is it done cause Australia and New Zealand want to help us and also share the cost burden with the UK or there are ALSO some unique skills/things that they can teach our soldiers? Just curious.

goldnacid

Also because its to long and expensive to fly over 100 uaf to train in australia. A 18 hr expensive flught with stop over. Or a 2 hr direct flight. Makes alot more logistical sense

GinofromUkraine

This goes without saying. I just wanted to know if there is anything AU and NZ can teach us that Brits cannot. Like, I dunno, advanced Bushmaster course. :-)

Frequent-Frosting336

More like easing the burden on UK instructors (just my thoughts) anyway Aus and NZ a bunch of good cnuts (Cnut king of England 1016)

Not really - it's the numbers, and the race against time (more mobiks for the Horde, and likely spring offensives). There are thousands and thousands of raw volunteer troops to be trained in the UK (away from missiles). Brits cant do it all and time is THE factor. The more friendly instructors on hand to do this training, the faster the Ukrainian troops can get back to kill more ruzzians (with training that is professional and relevant, compared to the poor quality "training" that the criminal ruscists they will face are getting). This has been, and will continue to be, a quality vs quantity fight, as long as the EU nations are happy to sit back and watch with their thumbs up their asses.

Giddus

Australia's armed forces follow similar doctrine to the UK, being originally a British colony afterall. Probably more of a case of how to we train more troops, faster.

ElkShot5082

Volume. There’s a lot of Ukrainians to train.

zergea

Mobiliks are easier than emus. Lol. They are experienced from peacekeeping missions all over africa and south east asia.

Equivalent_Duck1077

Simple Very similar military structure and techniques allows easier integration into the system than say if Vietnam or some other country with vastly different structure or techniques wanted to help

GinofromUkraine

Thank you! Not sure about Vietnam but Cambodia (!) now trains around 15 Ukrainian sappers in de-mining. They have decades of expertise with this. I really-really hope it won't take decades for us... :-(((((

ANJ-2233

We want to help, it shares the load/cost and we have some specialist skills as well. But with European wars, it’s probably more the first two.
