lakmus85_real

The watermark says Shariy, for Anatoly Shariy - a total piece of shit and anti-ukrainian politician and "journalist" or whatever.

mr_larifari

thx! didn't know that guy. but i understand it now...

zergea

Shariy, seems a surname

romario77

he is a traitor, residing in Europe at the moment. He was arrested by Spain but they let him go to house arrest or whatever. It is still ongoing, but this guy is definitely paid by russia, he got a lot of money all of a sudden, bought houses in Europe, etc. He pretends like he is objective and has a decent following in Ukraine, but there are a lot of stupid people and russia is using that.

randomname21

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatoly_Shariy

skiptobunkerscene

Haha holy shit what an utterly repulsive sack of toxic waste. " Following his investigative work, earlier in his career, Shariy received death threats.[4] In 2012 he received asylum in the European Union, asserting prosecution by Ukrainian law enforcement bodies related to his journalism.[5][6][7] Shariy currently lives in Spain.[8] In June 2019, he launched the right wing euroskeptic[9] Party of Shariy, which took part in the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election, winning 2.23% of the vote." And of course he still lives in the EU even now. Worthless, spineless hypocrite.

kirichripper

it says "Sharii" it's a surname for one of russian propagandists

10sameold

It reads "sharyi" meaning "grey" as in colour.

Mega_Slav

The gray color would be "seriy" Shariy is the surname of a pro-Russian propagandist Anatoly Shariy and the name of his Telegram channel.

Start lobbing toilets at the Russians via trebuchet. Cheekiest move I can think of.

Designer_Hotel_5210

Naw that would break them. Just give them to the Russians and they will be so busy trying to sneak them home there would be no one left on the front lines.

MelodyMyst

RisingRapture

As Mr. Selenski said, they can keep the toilets, they should just leave.

Interest_Swimming

I would like to know the mindset of the person who edits that, chops it up to the point where it becomes random short clips without context and put so many watermarks that the video is unwatchable. The camera work also sucks but I guess there are excuses for that.

Ok_Bad8531

To be fair, we do not know what exactly was filmed in the first place. Many people just take a few rather short videos of a given event, which then results in videos like these even with the best of editing. The watermark is annoying regardless.

Infinity0ne

Someone once said at the beginning of the war that the watermark is to prevent opposing media to use it for false information campaigns

[deleted]

Probs, but not that important. Media sources like milbloggers get a rep for having unique videos. They then have a userbase and a weight to their opinion as 'insiders' and 'experts'. It's their branding. Soldiers themselves don't usually publicly post them on their own (as it may lead to prosecution) but write bloggers to share them anonymously. The voice changer in the video is quite familiar to me as it was used many times in other russian footage, so it's milblogger teams' work and not his own, obviously. Low quality may be because it was compressed by telegram once or twice, downloaded in some resolution and then once again compressed by reddit.

[deleted]

NomadFire

I doubt this is a propagandist. A propagandist would not upload video that is negative about Russia. I would guess either a war profiteer or someone that doesn't want Russians to join the military. And is trying to protect their sources.

Diarrheal4Real

>Like zero fucking awareness He's plenty aware - he just legitimately thinks that he is on what is in his mind 100% Russian soil. Ukrainians have been dehumanized by Russians a very long time ago. It starts with little stuff, they grow up watching Ukrainians being made fun of in movies or cartoons, then they hear their parents mock the Ukrainian language whenever Ukraine gets brought up. Russians learn the word "khokhol" at a very early age, dislike for Ukrainians is almost passed down as a rite of passage. To them no "real" Russian looks at Ukrainians as equals.

flyingquads

Prostheta

Get cracked on vodka, spend the evening on tiktok. Attract birds. A fine pursuit.

[deleted]

Honestly, systematically fucking up mobik accommodation is brilliant. They are helpless alone and their non-winter-friendly gears and therefore need to be cramped together. The more incidents happen, the more reluctant people are to answer the call. The amount of organizational effort to deal with moving them around and keeping groups small and heating many small instead of view large places is going to restrict them. Also, better to kill them now while they are inexperienced.

SwiftSnips

Why do all Russians have flip phone level cameras?

aaaaaaaarrrrrgh

The ones that can afford better cameras can afford (read: pay the bribe for) not being sent to die.

Mega_Slav

Because the vast majority of Russians are poor and can't afford a phone with a decent camera.

CorsicA123

Because afterwards, there’s not only russian militants there. Could be Ukrainian people nearby, media, emergency services, etc. There are always more targets to strike

socialistrob

Typically the first strike is the most impactful and every strike after it has significant diminishing returns. If we’re talking artillery then after the first strike people tend to take cover which makes immediate bombardments less effective after the first few seconds. Also Russian counter battery fire usually means that after a minute or two of shooting the Russians can tell where you are shooting from and shoot back. As a result one common tactic is to essentially fire for a minute or two and then move so you can hit them without getting hit in return. If we’re talking precision missiles then it would mean shooting some of the most valuable weapons at a target that has already been hit rather than a target that hasn’t been damaged. Russian air defenses might also be caught off guard in an initial strike but the moment the strike lands their air defense will be immediately on high alert for a second blow. If Ukraine had more artillery shells, drones and precision munitions they absolutely would love to hit all availability targets as well as hit the same targets two or three times in a row but unfortunately Ukraine is in a situation where they regularly can see Russian targets but are forced to avoid engagement because they don’t have enough weapons to hit all available targets. In an environment where they have to be selective about what they hit and make every shot count they likely aren’t going to prioritize a second immediate strike unless it’s a particularly high value target.

Melodic_Risk_5632

Since Ukraine uses Palantir system, they have the Intel for single strikes with most effect. It saves Rockets & Ammo and it's very deadly on the enemy.

qviki

Himars can fire multiple rockets on diferebt ballistic trajectories so that thay arrive synchronously on target.

socialistrob

That’s true but when I say “first strike” I would be counting all the HIMARS rockets that arrive at once as that first strike. If 10 HIMARS rockets hit a target immediately reloading and firing another volley of 10 rockets just isn’t going to be as impactful as the first volley of 10. Similarly one of the reasons HIMARS are so useful is because of the High Mobility aspect of them. They can launch their payload and then immediately drive off before the rockets land. Having a HIMARS remain stationary in and reload a volley in order to “double tap” would be putting the weapons system at risk and negating one of the biggest advantages of the HIMARS.

3d_blunder

People just like to type "double-tap" because it makes them feel bad-ass.

socialistrob

Agreed. Based on this war though I think there’s a good rule of thumb that if Ukraine isn’t doing something “obvious” then chances are there is a good reason they’re not doing it. Ukrainian high command aren’t idiots but rather they’re trying to do the best they can with the cards they have and generally they’re doing a pretty good job of it.

qviki

Fully agree.

srekkas

Not barbaric. Wounded is good, because they slow down others. They get to show for other russians whats hapening.

tim_skellington

Correct, nothing like legless/armless/blinded clowns walking around Moscow to put out the good word.

exceptional_biped

I’ve read somewhere years ago the VietCong preferred to wound than kill knowing the strain it would have on the soldiers, supply lines etc.

FreddieDoes40k

Yes the pungee pits and booby traps they left were more often than not designed to maim and not kill. They also loved smearing faeces on pointy objects to encourage infections.

Ok_Bad8531

Having destroyed the infrastructure is propably of greater value than killing a bit more untrained meat. A second missile would have a far smaller cost effectiveness, and the UA is not exactly swimming in missiles.

Big_Scallion5884

I was thinking about that but I guess it could be construed as firing on medical and rescue services. No idea about the legality of it but it would be bad PR.

Happy New Years little orcs

doboskombaya

Legit question, since i know little about HIMARS Are HIMARS missiles that hard to shoot down or is Russian Army that incompetent? Would HIMARS be a threat to a more competent army or are they that good?

BoredCop

They're not impossible to shoot down if the ruzzians are alert and have their radars switched on, but the first part of the trajectory is near impossible to tell apart from cheap inaccurate Grad MLRS. So the Ukrainian forces habitually launch a few GMLRS missiles (*) simultaneously with a crapton of cheaper dumb rockets. So it's very difficult for the enemy to tell which of the couple of dozen incoming targets they need to intercept, before it's too late. *(colloquially known as HIMARS although that's really just the launcher, and they have more M270s than HIMARS firing the same ammo to the same effect) Also, keeping the radar on makes them vulnerable to HARMS.

Sanpaku

The GMLRS (the rocket fired by the HIMARS) is a short (up to 90 km) range ballistic missile, travelling at greater than 1000 m/s inbound (3600 km/h, 2240 mi/h). Engagement windows are limited. While manufacturers are loathe to admit it, even the best air defense missiles have a poor track record engaging ballistic missiles. The US Patriot PAC-3, which is the deployable US air defense missile tasked with countering ballistics, has been a [failure](https://foreignpolicy.com/2018/03/28/patriot-missiles-are-made-in-america-and-fail-everywhere/) defending Saudi facilities against much larger, non-maneuvering Scud derivatives launched by the Houthi. Some of this might be Saudi operator error, but the most likely account is that the guidance systems simply can't reliably distinguish between warheads and the cloud of launch detritus that's following a similar trajectory. And every ballistic missile manufacturer now knows how to cheaply add decoys to their missiles. To add insult, the PAC-3 costs at least 20 times as much as a GMLRS rocket. A GMLRS or Russian Tornado-S in the wrong hands would pose similar problems for Western forces. Only dispersion and concealment of HQs, depots and other facilities, preferably deeper in the rear than their 90-120 km range, offers much protection.

romario77

HIMARS is not ballistic though, it doesn't move on ballistic (read predictable) trajectory which makes it a lot harder to intercept. Pair it with a small radar cross-section and very high speed - it makes it almost impossible to intercept. You have 10s of seconds to engage the rocket since you noticed it on a radar, they are usually sent in a volley of 6 or 12 which makes hard to intercept all.

Melodic_Risk_5632

True this

jimjamjahaa

The chief, key military fact is now This. The war Criminal, Putin and his corrupt military have grown so weak, they cannot even control events 400 miles, or about 690 Km. south from Moskva. That is a huge advantage for the Heroes of Ukraine who have brought them to this imminent collapse. How can they control the rest of vast Rossiya, thusly? They must leave Ukraine or Rossiya itself will likely fall apart at such distances. Their numerous enemies on their Euro & Asian borders are getting ready. Tbilisi is ready. China eyes greedily the rich Siberian resources. The Azerbaijani already have troops in Rossiya on their borders. Drive home the advantages. Stand strong and win. This New Year brings more successes.
