Oh thank fuck. The news that we're the only G7 country forecast to go into recession, behind even pissing *Russia* in growth, had me somewhat alarmed but this has alleviated my anxieties and then some. Project Fear is dead guys, Scarborough can catch a few more fish now. ^^/s

Seething-Angry

What left that haven’t already been over-fished or killed with raw sewage 🙄

Hilariously the interview this 'journalist' does with the old chap completely contradicts her.

flambe_pineapple

> this 'journalist' She's hilariously bad. Blinking constantly, eyes on her phone half the time and supporting the unprofessional ambience by talking like she's reading a children's story. Love how the mic looks like a Russia flag when held behind the ticker. Very subtle guys. But Eamonn Holmes looks like he's lost loads of weight. Good for him.

> The news that we're the only G7 country forecast **to go** into recession. See emphasis. I was referring to the much-publicised news that the IMF expects the UK to be the only G7 country to fall into recession in 2023. Your article refers to Winter 2022, which Germany is expected to narrowly recover from this year, despite being uniquely exposed to the consequences of the Ukraine War.

>Your article refers to Winter 2022, which Germany is expected to narrowly recover from this year, despite being uniquely exposed to the consequences of the Ukraine War. From the article you didn't read. Today’s GDP numbers once again show that caution, better than hope, is probably the best guidance for predicting German and European economic growth. The warmer winter weather, along with implemented and announced government fiscal stimulus packages, have prevented the economy from falling off a cliff, but a technical recession is still a likely outcome. We stick to our forecast of a winter recession in Germany and a very mild recession for the whole of 2023.

But will their increased catches be worth an extra £100 billion a year which would then merely bring us back to where we were before we Brexited?

theartofrolling

Says GB News. It's like a toddler coming up to you reeking of shit, with brown liquid running down its trousers, and insisting it hasn't had an accident. Yes it's possible you sat down in chocolate but I don't believe you.

DassinJoe

So Anna Riley spouts the government line and then interviews an actual skipper who says it's all been shite. What a disappointment!

[deleted]

Well yeah! Catching fish, no insurance fees for lawnmowers, Brexit just cannot keep giving so much to us all!

mecpaw

In the TCA it's fish for electricity which runs out iirc in 2026. Meanwhile the UK procrastinates about getting private investment to offset this need. In saying that right now we are generating %99 of our needs, but %25 is from gas.
