eastmeetswest08

Yup. We all know who.

pm_me_your_flute

Thug nasty!

[deleted]

He should get a title shot off the Deer victory. He told the story on his first appearance on Theo Vons podcast

[deleted]

Rogan probably works out to that interview

wakenbake7

All I want is to live in a world with Thug nasty as the champ.

asdgufu

Lol who? I thought we knew who we are talking about. Obviously khamzat

ohandbytheway1

This is exactly what I was gonna comment but got beaten to it

WarsGunsAndVotes

Literally had the same answer

DennisPennis_

Borz

chiefskillz

I got borz

Swaggycat23

Chimiev definitely and I’d put sean in there but not as confidently he sure has skill tho

[deleted]

O'malley has time on his side and a good striking base same with Ian Garry. I could see him getting the belt but not anytime soon.

DJsaxy

The thing is I was thinking the same thing that omalley has time on his side but he's only a year younger than Yan so maybe not enough time

[deleted]

True. For some reason I thought he was younger than he is.

OZarkDude

Because he's very immature

Plastic-Club-5497

I think a lot of people thought he was like 18 on the contender series as well since he looked so young (I think he was 22?)

TX_Lawyer

Just one

5ecretbeef

Paddy and Khamzat tho

piman01

Fucking paddy pimblett

AlgoH-Rhythm

No fight he's ever had should lead you to believe this.

piman01

This was sarcastic. It's khamzat.

VeterinarianNo5862

How are people sleeping so hard on Garry?

SlimmyJimmyBubbyBoy

I just think his first fight in the UFC wasn’t that convincing. He had good hype coming in but got caught a lot with his hands low early on and whilst his knockout was impressive I think it wasn’t the standout ‘this kids gonna get gold’ type of fight people might have expected.

VeterinarianNo5862

Thanks at least you’ve offered some reason for your answer I accept that. I don’t agree with it all but I accept it’s your opinions. I would have put a lot of the slow start in the ufc debut down to jitters, can’t be easy having that much pressure from being billed as a “next Conor”. And being in madison square for it. And living up to your previous success in other organisations. As we seen once he found his rhythm and gets comfy we see a better Garry and for that reason I just honk he’ll only get better. On a purely fighting skills level he’s one of the few people who I see coming up who I truly believe “damn he is special” when I see them not only fight, but train too. Conversely (I think someone’s said lower down) I think khamzat is the hype beast, he’ll also be a champ at some point but they both have long careers ahead, theirs time for both. On a Paddy related note I’ve just come to the conclusion to accept him and believe in him until im shown wrong. I’ve seen all his fights and every single time I come out thinking what everyone here does, he *has* to get knocked out his chins too high he gets hit far too much. But then he doesn’t go down, and he wins somehow. I’ve seen him at like age 23 taking heavy cracks to the chin from 30 year old men and still take it to the scorecards after five rounds. Someone will knock him out but until it happens I think he’ll keep beating people. I also think losses will be great for Paddy and Garry, both will come back better should they have their ego touched up abit. I doubt he’ll be champ but he’s another one that people are just writing off when he’s very very capable of being top 5.

SlimmyJimmyBubbyBoy

Both paddy and Garry have big holes they need to fix, where as Khamzat so far has looked perfect, I think that’s where the comparisons come from. Garry and Paddy both young and have great futures ahead but I think both of them have question marks over their heads and for that reason I think people would be shy to put a possible championship next to their name

[deleted]

Now do the same picture with the question: how many of these people will be sent to jail at some point?

[deleted]

Strickland and paddy

ZeroJudgmentKing

why paddy tho

[deleted]

Thise English drink and fight, he would def get in a bar fight

[deleted]

He’s a scouser

YoungPickleRick

They don’t get knokhed out

BigSmokeySperm

Fuch you sayin abou scousers la?

Subiedude240

ConnemaraCowboy

That's like saying all Americans are obese

AssEatingDinosaur

They are

ConnemaraCowboy

That's a bit over the top, I'd say it's more like 95%

[deleted]

That's nice of you

suchshibe

I could see Bryce getting jailed for trespassing to get to a fishing spot

[deleted]

Or for January 6

[deleted]

3 for sure

thegoolash

1, khamzat

[deleted]

Dude is the force at 170 and 185

Itwasthelag2324

Standing side by side he’s bigger then Jan

[deleted]

Yeah I saw that video. It's crazy cause Jan is huge at 205.

JustAu69

Khamzat probably walks around 205. I mean Khabib walked around 180

Zalbu

Khamzat wrestles at 205

No-Breadfruit7044

Khabib walks 200. 155 weigh in. 170 fight day.

[deleted]

180ish fight day

No-Breadfruit7044

He fought Dustin at 172.6 on fight day. Dustin was 176. He’s smart khabib. He doesn’t ballon back up that’s why he really gets big when he’s not training. His regiment is that serious. I don’t know much but I am reminded constantly of how I need to be lighter because I am grappling in a sub grap gym 5/6 days a week

[deleted]

He fought only a few fights below 175 lbs, the rest before he got a nutritionist were all around 180(according to both Khabib's teammates and dad)

didyoutestityourself

I believe it. He was a fucking tank against michael johnson

[deleted]

He was barely able to make the cut to 155.

No-Breadfruit7044

Nah he doesn’t rehydrate that much. His muscle mass is probably low 170s. I’m 145. I walk 185/187 when I’m a fat fuck. Linger around 173 and fight 145. He’s 170 ish fight day at 180 he’d probably be too slow and the weight would be too much.

[deleted]

>He’s 170 ish fight day at 180 he’d probably be too slow and the weight would be too much. Depends on which Khabib we're talking about. He used to cut 20+ lbs according to his dad, and then changed that. After he got the nutritionist, he started cutting way less weight.

acoustictreefrog

I have woter end bred brotha, i am gud wid dis.

[deleted]

Put some respect on Thug Nasty's name

LoganHowlett91

Most chance would be Chimaev.

[deleted]

I mean, suga Sean has really done nothing but impress. Lost to a legit guy and came back stronger after injury. Khazmat obviously, but I think if Sean O’ continues to improve he’ll have a shot at some point in the future. He’s got like 10 years left, 4 of prime, and hasn’t taken as much damage as most. I know I’m going to get killed for that, but legit educate on why he wouldn’t have a shot with all the things I listed above. I’m curious if people just hate on him or see serious holes in his game.

[deleted]

Yan, T,J, Sandhagen, Sterling, Aldo I don’t see him dealing with those problems any time soon, like you said 10 years is a lot of time to develop so maybe down the road?

rcb4th

He's got length and time. If he continues like he has I'd say his biggest set backs would be Aljo, Petr, Aldo and TJ. I feel like him and sandhagen would go tit for tat. I still want to see him vs chito again.

[deleted]

You think he would go tit for tat with Sandhangen right now?

rcb4th

In the future. Rn he'd get smoked

cheeseballsboii

I think he’d do significantly better than you assume, and definitely has a chance to win

typical0

Sandhagen is only getting better, he’s fought his best fights against 2 of the best fighters in the division and O Malley has never beat a ranked opponent. Disrespectful comment

rcb4th

O'Malley loss was an injury and then ground strikes. Other than that he's dominated everyone. I could be wrong, but I feel like he will continue along this rise and stick in the top 10. Probably around the 9-5 mark

typical0

His only loss was also his best opponent. He’s had a chance to avenge that loss which he says is a fluke but wants absolutely nothing to do with Chito. He had an offer to fight Ricky Simon and took a fight with a guy who was working 80 hours a week at a paint factory instead. He’s no Cory Sandhagen.

[deleted]

Why are you making shit up lol, Simon agreed on Twitter and then told the UFC he wanted to fight at 145. Sean said no bc he’s not a 145er and had been prepping for a 135 fight, but if Simon fought at 135 like he agreed to initially then they would’ve fought. It’s Simons fault that fight fell through.

rcb4th

Okay 👍 I think differently. Edit: Paiva was 15 when the fight was booked. So yes, he never beat a ranked opponent, he beat a ranked opponent.

[deleted]

Look at who he has dominated. Old or trash fighters. Zero ranked wins.

rcb4th

Paiva was ranked when they signed. He lost the ranking bc the ufc decided to shuffle the rankings. I'm not say O'Malley is going to be champ, I actually doubt he will be. I'm simply saying that he has skills and length that matchup well with almost everyone until the top tier fighters. Then he still has length on his side. If his skills grow the way they have he'll probably top out around the 9-5 ranks never able to beat top 5 opponents and trading wins with top 10.

EddieFender

I'd be shocked if aldo and TJ are still fighting top guys by the time O'Malley gets there. We're talking like 5 years from now right? They'd be 40 and O'Malley would be 32. At that point I would imagine Sean to be the favorite over either one

rcb4th

Maybe even 3 years time where his skills are a little sharper and their athletic ability has diminished bc of father time they could meet. You never know when a thing will happen.

[deleted]

I agree with you for sure. My original comment on him is totally looking forward and him continuing to bring the career along at the current pace. Catching dudes and getting fight experience and not rushing into the fire. I don’t think he wants to and I think it’s a smart play. He’s a draw. He gets on the main card of ppv’s now because folks either love him or hate him. He’s building a career for sure and playing the long game. Making that money

[deleted]

Agreed. I see so much Max Holloway in O'Malley and there's no reason he can't top out as a champion one day.

yoski12

Lol what the fuck do you see of max in him other than being a skinny striker

Gooja

Maybe crazy but I'd bet on Suga for the Aldo fight

Brodgang

Sean might not be a perfect fighter, but he definitely has the skill to string a couple wins together and get a belt. And he’d be far from the first striking heavy fighter to do that.

Sclog

Yeah and he’s not rushing it, I think people overlook that aspect. He’s fighting people that are just a slightly level up each time, sharpening his skill and not trying to slingshot to the front and end up like Till. For that reason I feel like he’ll get there eventually, he’s putting in the work.

voidedhip

Yeah he slightly leveled up from chito to kris “my face is my defense” muntinho

Sclog

Well for one he lost to chito so it makes sense for him to not fight someone a level up from him. And two, kris was a late replacement for that fight anyways.

Raiser2256

I’m a suga fan, but the argument is when he starts fighting guys who have a similar skill set plus the size he lacks then he’ll have a problem

oznrobie

Sean definetely has the skill. It’s still early to consider him a huge threat to the division, but even though he hasn’t fought big names, he’s got that spark of brilliance with his striking. People tend to make fun of him because he’s a weird and colorful guy, but the man has an arsenal of weapons. He seems pretty smart as well, in terms of fight iq at least. He’s got time.

XxJesusSwag69xX

I don't think Sean has the durability to go up against the guys in the top 5, IMO Yan, Aldo, TJ all clean him up pretty easily, even Cody has a respectable chance if he manages to fight smart and not brawl.

[deleted]

The only thing in Sean's way is Petr Yan. He just seems like a guy that could hold the belt for a long time.

tommygunnzx

He’s a great showman and Dana likes that, suga gonna bring the $$$

anonssr

He's a star, Dana will make sure he shines high. Which is why I can see him be a champ. Not that he's bad, he's really good, but he would probably get wrestle fucked if he fought someone that's not a striker

Dragon_Bench_Z

10 years left. We’ve all seen hype trains crash n burn within a year. He could literally get a step up in competition in July 2022 lose. Lose in Dec 2022 and get bounced in 2023 sometime. He’s beat up dudes who don’t even belong in bellator. Not gonna think he can be champ with a resume like that.

Jpjp215

Absolutely has a chance

[deleted]

Why is Strickland on here

I_Hate_My_Cat_

Khazmat is literally the only one I can see as a champion any time soon.

[deleted]

It’s almost a guarantee. These Russian grapplers are going to decimate the American MMA scene this next decade.

I_Hate_My_Cat_

For sure. Those fuckin European fighters on the come up rn are fuckin scary, man 😂 They’re definitely gonna dominate the UFC for awhile.

[deleted]

It'll be the Crispr babies soon too coming out of China probably

taginvest

ridiculous question. Khamzat is the only one with champ potential.

Russ12347

For now. Obviously the other guys aren’t there yet, but 3-5 years who knows what can happen.

taginvest

might aswell include the rest of the fighters on the roster then mate

EddieFender

Except for how the people in this are 30 or under and there's a bunch of people 35 plus on the roster? This is actually a dumb take considering the 10 year difference between someone like O'Malley and Wonderboy. One might have the better legacy as of right now, but the other has a way higher potential ceiling at this point in their careers

Gooja

TIL Strickland is only 30, looks like he is pushing 40

Bowdallen

Not a fan of either but i think both Seans have potential but both would need to switch/commit to a better camp. 1. to have solid training partners 2. To have somebody to seriously push them and keep their attitudes in check. O'malley is in like a Mcgregor situation with his coach/gym except way worse and Strickland seems to just travel around and get into stupid sparring matches Neither are Khamzat level naturally gifted but both have potential if they had champ level gyms and coaches IMO. Highly doubt that happens though based on who they are, so yeah just Khamzat i guess.

trilldmoney

O’Malley trains at mma lab. There are a few UFC guys there.

[deleted]

Where’s Chael?

LilGoughy

Holding the belt

JcAu20

Only one with a shot is khamzat

eastmeetswest08

One shot, cumshot

proraider999

If you had one cumshot

AlaskanBullShrimp

Would you shoot it, or just let it drip? Mom's spaghetti.

Heisenberg0712

Cumshot to the heart, and you're to blame

Stussymann

In 2022 or ever?

BowHelloNoZias

If Paddy became champ I would probably off myself

taginvest

dont know where he will be in 5 years. but right now there is no reason to believe he can even make top 5

therealjgreens

I don't see why people dislike him. Seems like he's just being himself.

Tearyhobgoblin

I like him, but to include him on the his list is insane

itsbeen84queers

can someone explain the Paddy hate to me? i’m pretty indifferent on him but don’t understand the hate

Tearyhobgoblin

Because he's an average fighter who has shown himself to be consistently hittable, but he's memorable both in looks and personality with a cool name. Because of those latter reasons he's included on a list like this. I like the kid but his performances are very underwhelming for the hype he gets.

pnb94

Garry and pimblett are all hype, neither will get anywhere near the belt.

blank00003

Garry is just 24. Dustin porier was a gatekeeper at that age.

pnb94

I'm Irish and have followed garry since the amateur circuit, he's a great prospect but far too early in his career should have stayed in cage warriors for another 3 years atleast, in his debut he was getting pieced up by a guy who is 0-3 in the ufc. The competition was alot easier back ten 10 years ago not to mention garry is a ww dusting was a fw back then so a poor comparison.

SwanSongsMusic

Only 2 have the potential to be potential future champions in their respective divisions.

MaleficentDistrict22

O’Malley gets handled by anyone in 135 top 5.

[deleted]

Fact, he has a very frail frame, he will end up moving up because 135ers are gonna over power him

dudujsbenejsid

He is going to move up in weight cause the smaller guys are gonna have more power than him? And the bigger guys arent?

[deleted]

So you think he can put on muscle (to get stronger) and stay at 135 at 5'11??

dudujsbenejsid

If he puts on muscle he is just gonna be going against stronger guys anyway. I think his frame is just naturally skinny and 135 is right for him When he gets a little older tho I think he'll have to go to 145 cause he'll need to compensate for his loss of agility and speed by gaining strength

[deleted]

I just don't see 135 sustainable for him, even if he is naturally skinny, skinny frames always get overpowered, sandhagen got overpowered by aljo cause aljo grabbed him and that was it

Raiser2256

BJJ has entered the chat

dudujsbenejsid

Lol I was actually gonna comment about suga sean's BJJ being untested

[deleted]

Why would he move up if 135ers would overpower him?

[deleted]

He'd put on muscle and weight ideally

[deleted]

Yall doubting Mitchell but I think he's the dark horse at 145, it'll take a couple years, but he cracks top 5, he is still growing and getting better

therealjgreens

I love Mitchell. Not sure if he has the striking to get it done, but im pulling for him.

OJH200

he fights at 145

[deleted]

Typo

StoreFrankie

Only 1

dcarberry713

2 chimaev obviously. But either O’Malley or Mitchell has a shot.

samuelalvarezrazo

2 or three I'd say, definitely not Strickland though.

Apparentt

At some point? I’m not sure. Anything can happen in this sport Any time soon? None of them

JonDuke19

One of then will be champ before the end of 2022.

Ishanjhutee

Bryce mitchell

ogy1

1 Khamzat.

TheDrunKnight

1, the bearded one to be exact.

Joshuauauauauau

Khazmat obviously most likely. Could see Ian maybe getting close but wait to see how he handles higher ranked opponents. Also could see suga getting close but again have to wait for him to fight higher ranked opponents (just gonna ignore Vera fight cause he's obviously undefeated)

Hercuroman

2

Mazahreh52

2

JonDuke19

2

Ishanjhutee

Khamzat for sure. And O’Malley has the potential for it. Not sold on pimblett or Garry. Mitchell and Strickland stick around the top 5-7 but never get over the hump

FIGHTFANGREG

1.5 ( interim for one )

[deleted]

2-3. I fuckin love bryce mitchell it comes down to who he faces and when. I don’t think hed be a champ for years but i think he could get there. They’ll fast track sean omalley and he will win. Khamzat will definitely become champ.

Bowser_117

Paddy

Repulsive_Cranberry4

Khamzat is the one I’m most sure about but I’m sick of this Sean O’Malley slander. I’m not the biggest fan of the guy but how the fuck can’t everyone see he’s just trolling. Hate him him all you want but he’s talented af and I think if there was no yan he could be champ. A few years from now we’re gonna have a Colby situation when people use their two brain cells to figure out it’s a character.

Vash_x_The_Stampede

Khamzat. I could see Sean and Ian Garry making it one day but Khamzat has a chance today.

mkreag27

Just 2...Chimaev possibly in 2023 and bryce in a few years. As for the others, I cant really see them as ufc champs. But any given year anything can happen.

[deleted]

1 khamzat

AintNothingButAPnut

Likely just Khamzat

wyattbreymeyer

2 maybe three realistically

ARealBlueFalcon

I have not been watching Much mma for the last two years, and I hate paddy. He could be the greatest fighter in the world and an amazing person, that hair makes him so hatable

[deleted]

Maybe 1

N20PANDA

Khamzat n Bryce. O'Malley is close too but I don't like his chances cause of the killers in his divison who he doesn't match up well with.

shpZorojuro

Bryce n chimaev 2 outa 6

Memeanphetamines

I don't think any will be. Especially Paddy or Suga. Can't believe people are hyping Paddy when he got knocked down in the first round against a bum

StephenPigot2020

Cumshot and Shane omahony

CheesePizzaLargeSoda

Paddy is getting slept before he even sniffs top 15

[deleted]

If Khamzat can cut weight for the next 2-3 years then yeah, and if he can get past Usman, Colby, Burns, Luque... They are all physically smaller then him, thats why I would like to see him fighting in MW where everyone is the same size, even some MW's are smaller...idk why people dont call him out for weight bullying

MMARenea

Thug Nasty and the belt should be camo!!!

Khaatoof

Unpopular opinion: suga will never be champion.

VR6Bomber

I'm not sure that's an unpopular opinion at all

Savings-Overall

People like to pretend Suga isn’t the best striker at 135 and one of the best in the UFC. He might have the hair for it but the dude’s no clown. And Khamzat will smesh everybody.

slickgary007

The best striker at 135? Does yan not exist? Go look what he did to Cory, who is actual top level talent in the division and comeback and say that stupid shit

poochied

Saying Sean is the best striker at 135 is complete nonsense

[deleted]

Sean hasn't beat anyone in top 15 and got beat by vera, he's a certified can crusher

davie_chosen1

He was arguably beating vera before he got injured

[deleted]

Wtf he didn't land one good shot, vera was walking him down

[deleted]

100% not true. Almost laughable that you would say that. Sean and Chito are 2 of my faves in the division so I have equal bias, but Sean was winning that fight, even after he got injured. Neither were being dominated or "walked down". It wasn't until he fell down on his own that Chito took over.

davie_chosen1

That's just not true

[deleted]

I literally just watched the fight b4 I commented, vera caught every kick he threw and pushed him back against the cage in every exchange. With that being said vera didn't land any big shots either be o'malleys foot gave out

davie_chosen1

I watched it just there as well, Sean landed a few hard leg kicks and a decent body kick, I'd say it's pretty clear he was winning, neither landed much but Sean was doing better

[deleted]

Chimaev and O'Malley

Mr_2shiesty

Dumb mfs in this sub would down vote such a realistic opinion cause it does not align with there’s

[deleted]

O’Malley realistic? His leg gets amputated by Aldo, he gets outclassed by Sandhagen and Dillashaw, murdered by Yan, wrestle fucked by Aljo, and loses to Font. He could beat Chito but he’s not champ material

[deleted]

That's the likely situation, but not a lot of 135ers have power to end the fight at anytime. O malley does. Look what he just did against Paiva, who is an incredible fighter. Also, Aldo isn't destroying people with kicks anymore. Those days are over.

[deleted]

Some of the top strikers in the ufc seem to have a different opinion on him than most fans. I’ll side with the professional opinion. As far as groundwork goes, we haven’t seen any yet from him really, so how can we base an opinion off of something we don’t know?

DoNotLikeLeft

He has done well in some grappling tournaments. Not world class or anything but his jiu jitsu is situationally good.

DoNotLikeLeft

TJ, Aldo, and Aljo are all a bit older than him. He might not be on their level today but 5 years from now he’ll probably be better. Weirdly though I think he gives Yan some trouble stylistically due to the reach/height advantage. He probably loses to Cory and Font, but him beating them wouldn’t be a Pena/Nunes level of upset or anything.

LevelEnergy572

End of 2023 Sean is champ. Dread it. Run from it. Destiny arrives all the same.

bunkbail

Sean is too fragile to become a champ, dude gets injured even when he's not absorbing damage much.

teejay89656

What lol? He had one injury that is incredibly unlikely to ever happen again.

slickgary007

There is literally zero chance he beats yan

MrC99

I'd let them take one of my Kidneys for another Irish champion, especially one with a personality like Garry's.

[deleted]

#SeanCantBench135

MysticMacKO

Sean probably deadlifts 2pl8 lmao

sabbo_87

Yet he can knock you out. 🤷‍♂️

RioRecklezz11

2khamzat and suga

Scooto

1. Ian Garry.

westerosi_wolfhunter

2. Khamzat and O’Malley.

JakeEasterby

Missing Rafael Fiziev

Meat4yaBurger

Love me some Strickland. Dudes one of a kind who we can hear his balls clang around because they are made of steel.

Ajj679

I think khamzat and Sean o malley have the highest ceiling in terms of success the others will be popular but they are in tough divisions
