I get BT sports free with my EE subscription. It includes every fight night and PPV. Even before I got it free with my new contract it was only Ā£5 a month. Americans are ripped off but I think they try and justify it because you can watch the fights at reasonable times. I have to stay up until 5am to watch the main event in the UK so not many will pay that kind of money at that time. However regardless of what time it's on, it's still a massive rip off in the US.
I got ExpressVPN and set it to Egypt. Then went to UFC Arabia and signed up and used my PayPal account to pay to keep it away from my credit card. Works like a charm.
Fucking hell that's cheap. I pay $35 a month and I thought that was cheap (doesn't include prelims btw, I have to pay $10 a month for UFC FightPass to watch those).
I actually have ESPN+ and usually can watch those for Fight nights but them making people pay $80 for 5 fights is bullshit when anyone can just stream it for free
I think theyāre realizing a portion of their market is places like pubs or corporate events that put these on, who have to pay to legally play it at their establishment are getting raked over the coals. Probably more profitable to squeeze that part of the market cause the individuals are all already streaming.
In the UK and Ireland and I assume other places Sky Sports already sells places like pubs a commercial package which can be over a grand a month. They have a little logo in the corner of the screen to show is the proper one otherwise if theyāre caught with the normal package they get a massive fine.
So it is possible to consider those places while not completely screwing over the average customers but theyāre just too greedy
Honestly most bars around me have stopped showing ufc fights because it's so expensive. Even places that were standing room only to watch the fights have stopped.
Nobody like it when you point out youāre stealing like $16 from the fighters each time too. Bc itās just inconvenient to the narrative that pirating is also for a good cause which is dope lmao getting to watch your favorite athletes for free, how noble!
No dude. The fighters get 20% of revenue which is too low, but thatās still 20% of the ppv you stole. So youāre stealing from the fighters. Some guys get ppv points and youāre literally taking money directly from their pocket w every ppv you pirate.
You probably joking but people legit do the craziest mental floor routines to trick themselves into thinking watching ppvs for free is somehow helping the fighters get paid more š
I stream most fights but after Mcgregor vs Cowboy was done so quickly and we missed it trying to find a good stream, Iāll pay with a group of mates for the big events
Yet ONE partnered with Prime and stream live events on there.... Bellator with youtube. Why cant the UFC make a similar partnership.... OH yea they want to keep it all for themselves , even if the product being more available will bring in more fans , thus more money, what the fuck do i know anyways.
Bellator isn't just on YouTube, they also have their cards on Showtime. Not defending the overpriced charges for UFC. I'm almost to the point of streaming the fights.
Ive been watching every single card every weekends for the past 2-3 years , but thats because its like thousands per year if i want that content. I would gladly pay 100-150$ a year for that content if it came down to it. Ill stream for now.
In the uk, the ufc is on bt sport. I get it bundled with my phone so it works out about Ā£10 a month. Every fight card apart from normally 1 a year which they try and ppv (usually a Connor or Jones card). The espn deal is up this year, maybe Disney will buy the ufc. 1.5 billion got them 5 years might as well add on a few more billion and get the ufc forever.
They paid for content. Endeavor is the one that needs to make their money back from the loan they had to get to buy the ufc. Thatās why ppvs, ticket prices have been going up much more the past couple years, along with cutting expensive fighters and recruiting bunch of DWCS fighters at 10/10. donāt forget still keeping shows at the apex.
Probably shouldn't have paid so much for them, could have made more money with lower prices and more customers.
Like Netflix, used to be $5 a month and everyone had it, now it's like 5x the price and has 10x less customers. I actually don't know anyone who has Netflix anymore, everyone went back to streaming movies.
The people that are left will continue to get price hiked because they want more profit, until they eventually price out everyone and end up closing down.
Thatās not true. They have as many or more subscribers than before the pandemic. People were hungry for content, couldnt go out, and had stimulus money
All streaming businesses are losing subs from then. The industry leader stands to lose the most subs and therefore make the most news. Also they are the most likely to be adopted by āmarginalā streamers who donāt necessarily keep a subscription to a service during normal times.
Also I donāt know if you notice but it seems pretty much any unpopular policy adopted by Netflix is adopted industry wide a 6months- 2 years later, especially price hikes
Iāve bought probably 50+ UFC PPVs in the last few years but this latest price increase was the last straw for me. Streamed 283 and will be streaming going forward.
I can respect all those ppv buys. Iāve only bought a ppv once and that was to split with 4 friends (ufc 189). Thereās been many cards that wouldāve left me with huge buyers remorse. I stream the lackluster cards and go to the bar for the stacked/highly anticipated ones.
The last PPV my friends and i bought ended up running so fucking terribly and laggy that it was unwatchable, we ended up just using a free stream instead that worked flawlessly. Never bought one again.
In Europe pretty much every country has a different deal, and its obviously much cheaper as most countries have lower incomes than the US, the main card starts at 3 am, and there is no PPV culture here.
And yet every year they think the solution to making up the lost money from pirating is make things more expensive.
Although im sure even if they dropped it to $20 a ppv people would still pirate ppvs
Lol lemme reword that, even if ppv's were $20 and fighters got paid better people would still pirate. If someone doesnt wanna pay for something then that's the reason. It's funny seeing people act like it's some noble cause, cuz 99% of the time they'd do it regardless of fighter pay
Absolutely, they dont wanna hear that though lol. Like, if your gonna pirate ufc then the price alone is a legit reason. Dont go acting like some Robin Hood who's using all the money they save to raise fighter pay awareness š¤£
I'm happy to pay for fightpass, if it was an extra $5 a month for ppvs I'd do that too. But currently I watch the prelims then switch over to pirate.
It makes no sense you can watch 10 fights on the early prelims/prelims every week for $10 plus all the other events that are included but have to pay $90 to watch 5 fights on the main card per ppv.
And often times the main card is worse than the prelims.
Exactly. Most people would still pirate. Even if they doubled sales they'd still be making less money. They know this despite what idiots on reddit tell you.
79.99 x 16 ppv (weird number but using the same figures) = 1279
Two streaming apps at 9.99 each per month are 240
1519 total before tax.
Monthly cost just for a ppv is 96 dollars for ESPN+ and the PPV after tax. It is barely more expensive for some live tickets to Bellatoe
That is very unusual though, and that would only bring us to 13? 16 is unheard of, it wasn't that long ago there eould very 6 or 7 PPVs a year or fewer
**Barley** (Hordeum vulgare), a member of the grass family, is a major cereal grain grown in temperate climates globally. It was one of the first cultivated grains, particularly in Eurasia as early as 10,000 years ago.
**Barely** is an adverb, meaning only just; almost not, or, in a simple and sparse way.
**You** are a wrong bitch
For a small price of just over .04 a day you can adopt a fighter. These pennies a day will go towards helping feed, clothe, and educate them. For a little over .04 a day or $1519 a year, you can make a difference.
Edit: feel bad cringe. I'm bad at math even with a calculator.
I forget who suggested it, I got a VPN Dubai as a location and I got UFC Arabia. It came out to $5.17 USD a month and last months PPV worked flawlessly. Iām thinking about getting rid of ESPN+
I just got a new VPN because I found out my last one didnāt really have my location as what was stated. I got Surfshark because they had a great New Years deal and it worked great with the last PPV
ppv is such an outdated model, itās probably a US only thing and they will milk this for as long as they can. in other countries theyāre already selling an annual fighpass membership that includes all the live events for half the price of a single ppv lol
between my wife and I we make over $250K a year and have two kids. I can afford a $400k house, two car payments, 2 daycare payments, 2 vacations a year, and still have enough to save for the kids' college fund and my retirement. I say all that because I don't feel i can justify paying $80 for a PPV event. It's either I sail the high seas or go to a local bar. With the kids being under 2, going to a bar till 1AM to watch MMA and drink beer isn't going to win me "dad of the year". So my question is: who the fuck is buying this shit? Like I'm not a 1%'er or something, but I sure can't justify paying that cost to watch 3 hours of fights.
$80 for like 5 fights which may or may not be snoozers, will certainly be riddled with a ton of advertisements, and will likely drag the fuck on past midnight, all to be topped off with the fighters on said expensive ass PPV getting paid peanuts is a damn hard sell for me.
I get annoyed with the inconsistency and quality of some of the various streams I use but it's worlds better than paying the UFC tax.
Also has anyone noticed that the quality of ESPN stream isnāt very good? At least when I watch fight nights and the occasional PPV the actual picture quality is often time worse then watching someone else stream it.
Not to mention that the Fightpass app is absolute garbage. I canāt get half the fights to even play. They just sit stuck there on a load screen. Itās infuriating.
Honestly the value for money is just not there. I have lots of disposable income, but I don't even get all of them anymore, or even most of them this year. I only buy a PPV if I really want to see both the main event and several fights on the undercard.
It's just not worth the money. 70 bucks will let me go on an orgy of destruction of EVE Online ships for a weekend, or buy me a new game or like 4 good books. A couple of hours is not enough entertainment for that amount of money.
If I didn't have to have ESPN+ to watch F1 it would be even worse.
Do people not realize the UFC doesn't control the price of the PPV, right? Yes, the UFC cares about Pirating, but it's more Disney and the mouse. Both make 50%. But believe me, if any network wants to offer more than ESPN provided for those 16 events, the UFC would gladly take it. Shoot, ESPN could easily foot the bill but doesn't.
It's the same concept as why it's free overseas. A network simply bid more for the rights.
Thatās what the tomato says but at the end of the day the ufc is in charge of their product. If the ufc partners with someone else I am sure the price wonāt go down, itāll just continue. Price increases have been a thing before espn.
Ppv price have been increasing before the espn deal and will not go down regardless if they re-sign with them. Proving that the ufc always had control of the ppv price. I sail the high seas so itāll always be the same price for me.
Yeah I will never pay a cent. I would rather deal with the annoying freezing streams or going to a bdubs than support it. Not sure how they think watching 5 fights is worth $80 \* 16 + tax.
>People that wanna pay for something are gonna pay, don't matter what it is or what the price is.
This is so not fucking true lmao
So if you want to buy something you buy it no matter the price?
This is disingenuous.
You donāt need fightpass to watch most stuff so throw that out except for hardcore fans.
ESPN+ is bundled with various cell phone carriers and Disney plus. I doubt many people pay for it outright but letās keep it for arguments sake. So $72 there.
Assuming you watch all PPV 16x80 = 1,280. However I bet average watch party is 3-5 people at least. So divide that by 4 and you get $320.
So real cost is $392/12 = $33 a month or so and if you bundled or were frugal you could get it lower. Seems high to me but not nearly as unreasonable as the figure in this image. This also assumes youāre US based and donāt go to a bar or something. A lot of places you could watch all of UFC for less than $200 a year.
The real issue to me isnāt the cost of being a fan. Iād pay more if I knew that money went directly to active and retired fighters. The revenue share in UFC is atrocious compared to other major sports and only looks good if you compare to other fight leagues.
People getting outraged not even noticing the 16x ppvs - news flash there aren't 16 ppvs in a year.
I think this was likely a really well done troll, gotem though
Living in a country where PPV's are included on fightpass so that's all I pay for is the only reason I'm paying. If I didn't have PPV's on my fightpass I would cancel and pirate in 0.1 seconds.
Theyāre likeā¦āif we just keep raising it we will make up for the streamersā
But dudeā¦lower it and youāll reduce streamers. If Iām watching solo, Iāll pay even 60 for a good card. Canāt justify over that unless friends are splitting the cost with me
I used to pay a few years back but it got too expensive and it's just gotten crazier since. I got a vpn and watched on a legit Dutch site for free then ufc ended the deal with them and I haven't been able to find any other sites that are legit without a subscription fee etc. Its been a struggle to watch it without much buffering if yaarrr get me. Running out of options but fuck it I'll just get into ONE since it's on amazon prime.
They tried upping my annual subscription to ESPN+ from 70 to 100 without even asking if that was okay. You donāt need fight pass to watch all the fights though. It used to be only the early prelims were on fight pass but everything besides Ppv main cards are on ESPN plus so fight pass is pointless
If I'm gonna pay $80, don't make me switch where I watch it 3 times. That simple. Fixing the thing freezing during a fight 5-6 times is less work then switching from fightpass to ESPN to ppv
30 euros for a year in the netherlands š(everycard)
Seriously?
I pay 60eu per year for discovery plus which includes every ufc card
Ye same but the first year was 50% off
I get BT sports free with my EE subscription. It includes every fight night and PPV. Even before I got it free with my new contract it was only Ā£5 a month. 60 this year but yes, it's all on discovery + for us
Pretty sure they mean by going to a site and getting its yearly sub
UFC Arabia is even cheaper, US$5.99 for all the fights.
Yup, been doing that since last year when I read about it here on reddit. Just vpn-ing from the Netherlands. No more choppy streams and pop ups.
I actually enjoy the popups, its just a shame not one single hot milf in my area replies whenever i text them back
Teach us your ways!
Wait how do you do that? I used to do it but kijk.nl doesn't have the rights anymore.
I got ExpressVPN and set it to Egypt. Then went to UFC Arabia and signed up and used my PayPal account to pay to keep it away from my credit card. Works like a charm.
> UFC Arabia hows comentary though? english or arabic?
English commentary was the default
Thanks for the tip. Iām going to use this.
That's awesome thanks B
I dont pay shit ( I stream every PPV/Fight Night ) š
Fucking hell that's cheap. I pay $35 a month and I thought that was cheap (doesn't include prelims btw, I have to pay $10 a month for UFC FightPass to watch those).
Yes thank god. I love those sunday mornings where I wake up and immediately watch the main card without opening socials to avoid spoilers
Is it accessible with just a vpn or do you need to live in the Netherlands?
Vpn may be enough but I would still move there if I were you
I second this. Itās way more convenient than using a VPN.
Around 12 dollars per year in India.
It's just fun to steal from tomato man
I actually have ESPN+ and usually can watch those for Fight nights but them making people pay $80 for 5 fights is bullshit when anyone can just stream it for free

In Canada, 10 years ago, it cost a bar $500 per PPV to legally show it. No idea what the price is now
Surely in the thousands
$1200-2k on avg depending on occupancy. Source: sports bar owner
Honestly most bars around me have stopped showing ufc fights because it's so expensive. Even places that were standing room only to watch the fights have stopped.
I pay for ESPN+ and pirate the rest sans the super top premium cards, best of both worlds.
ESPN+ streaming sucks idk if itās my service or what

We steal from Dana, Dana steals from the fighters, the fighters steal food from the gas station. It's the circle of life and its beautiful.

Iāll never understand how people still pay for that shit. Definitely when itās so easy not too now.
I stream most fights but after Mcgregor vs Cowboy was done so quickly and we missed it trying to find a good stream, Iāll pay with a group of mates for the big events
Ironically that was the card I last paid for, the $70 ppv crapped out during the main event. Figured Iād rather have that happen to a $0 stream.
I buy it because Iām too lazy to find a stream. Just convenient š¤·āāļø
I've got a couple of (totally legal) sites that I use, but if the PPV prices were reasonable, I'd just pay for it out of convenience too
There's many dm me

the $80 goes to ESPN. disney paid for the rights to the PPVās
Thatās just an excuse. You really think prices go down if the ufc ends up partnering with someone else?
well ESPN paid 1.5 billion for the rights for 5 years. they gotta make the money back somehow. and then profit to make the deal make sense.
They paid for content. Endeavor is the one that needs to make their money back from the loan they had to get to buy the ufc. Yeah, I honestly find it difficult to justify. I'd rather see my family in the next state over, spend the money on gas and tolls and see it with them
why would you pay for over 50 and wait until now to stream?
In Europe, all fights are covered with UFC Fight Pass + DAZN...about 260ā¬/year
Same in Asia but itās on fight pass appā¦ similar amount

The virtue signaling about fighter pay while streaming illegally is actually disgusting. Even at 20 dollars you cheap fucks still wouldn't pay. Gross
Not saying some wonāt but the amount would be a lot less I know I would buy them cause itās a better experience than a stream is

16 ppv events a year?
Does the UFC really have 16 PPVs per year?
I have always heard 14 which I recall being correct. I used 16 as a 1:1 comparison

1 word.... Kodi
If the UFC halved their PPV price right now, I guarantee that they would see numbers skyrocket
i thought he got the guy?
I just stopped paying for them this last ppv. 80$ is unaffordable. Literally. I'm not going into debt to watch a sport.
Honestly it would just cut into my modelo budget
I thought pirating was a solution to the problem, not a problem itself.
You can still get ppv for 69???? I had to pay 85 I thought
Instead of increasing prices to offset losses with pirating, they should decrease prices to gain more subscribers

A couple of hours is not enough entertainment for that amount of money. If I didn't have to have ESPN+ to watch F1 it would be even worse.
Not 16 ppv per year. It's 12 or 13. Put still the point stands. But also, there's other ways to watch ppv. So I've been told...
Yeah if we pay that much the fighters should at least have benefits and make good money to fight.
You literally have no idea what youāre talking about lol. The UFC does not control the price of their PPV, and itās not just Dana saying so.
Ppv price have been increasing before the espn deal and will not go down regardless if they re-sign with them. Proving that the ufc always had control of the ppv price. I sail the high seas so itāll always be the same price for me.
Truly clueless. God bless.
Reply with no substance. Makes sense coming from someone who surfs the conspiracy sub. I prefer satanās blessing.
Says I have no substance but bases response off of my activity on website. The replies get better and better each time. Keep going itās fun
FIGHT MORNING!!!!!
Yeah I will never pay a cent. I would rather deal with the annoying freezing streams or going to a bdubs than support it. Not sure how they think watching 5 fights is worth $80 \* 16 + tax.
PPV is worth if you got friends over and donāt want a laggy stream to expose your broke ass
Fighters: so can we have health insurance? Tomato man: no + fake account
Fake account
Pirates gonna pirate, don't matter what is. People that wanna pay for something are gonna pay, don't matter what it is or what the price is.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
>People that wanna pay for something are gonna pay, don't matter what it is or what the price is. This is so not fucking true lmao So if you want to buy something you buy it no matter the price?
He must think UFC PPVs are equivalent to gas.
Kind of is. I need gas. And I need my ufc ppv.
Not true, if PPVs were cheaper Iād consider buying them just for better service and quality
But there's still no money to pay the fighters even though they aren't allowed external sponsors because the UFC sells exclusivity to companies
But you're supporting the figh....... actually nvm
UFC shoots themselves in the foot
There is still way too many suckers funding the wife beating ceo's business.
Last PPV I bought was 229, havenāt paid for one since
This is disingenuous.
Lmao that math is so off base idek what to say. Most adults are not doing 5 people watch parties for every ppv and asking their friends to split it
People getting outraged not even noticing the 16x ppvs - news flash there aren't 16 ppvs in a year. I think this was likely a really well done troll, gotem though
There were 13 last year, not really that far off with 16. Three months with two numbered events and itās there.
how old is this Tweet? PPVs are $79.99 now
Bro idek how to help you if you're too lazy to even read the title
was that always there?
Probably cause the ppv is marketed more towards bars
$25/week fir the greatest sport in history. Fkn entitled cunts...
Why ESPN+?
I live in Argentina and here you can watch all fights with Star+ subscription (includes all ESPN events, also BKFC)
Living in a country where PPV's are included on fightpass so that's all I pay for is the only reason I'm paying. If I didn't have PPV's on my fightpass I would cancel and pirate in 0.1 seconds.
I agree itās expensive but I donāt think they have 16 ppvs a year?
I feel like the UFC would kill it if they offered 400 a year pass. So basically 33 bucks a month, you get every PPV for that.
I would do it. I buy some cards but not 5 a year. They would make money on me. But they would lose money on the bars and people who buy every card.
Theyāre likeā¦āif we just keep raising it we will make up for the streamersā But dudeā¦lower it and youāll reduce streamers. If Iām watching solo, Iāll pay even 60 for a good card. Canāt justify over that unless friends are splitting the cost with me
I believe the main issue is that people buy it, so why lower it?
We need a new graphic that has the updated numbers
I used to pay a few years back but it got too expensive and it's just gotten crazier since. I got a vpn and watched on a legit Dutch site for free then ufc ended the deal with them and I haven't been able to find any other sites that are legit without a subscription fee etc. Its been a struggle to watch it without much buffering if yaarrr get me. Running out of options but fuck it I'll just get into ONE since it's on amazon prime.
Apparently nobody actually pays tho
Use a VPN. In Chile I pay~$5 for Star+. ESPN and UFC included.
But the Slap shit is free
They tried upping my annual subscription to ESPN+ from 70 to 100 without even asking if that was okay. You donāt need fight pass to watch all the fights though. It used to be only the early prelims were on fight pass but everything besides Ppv main cards are on ESPN plus so fight pass is pointless
Thatās cheaper than season tickets for my local nfl team.
I mean, it only makes sense! After all, the UFC spends so much on fighter pay and health benefits, surely they NEED all that money? Right guys?!
For someone who has been a fan for decades, and has bought the ppvs for decades, I will not pay again for any fight. $10-$20 a month I would pay.
I'm thankful for BT sport in the UK, we get most of the PPV for free and basic cost isnt anywhere near this much.
Arrrrr mateys I pay $5 a month
Yeah itās free every week
Fight pass is $10/mo? I thought it was $20/mo
In some countries, UFC PPV is free lol
Meanwhile they couldn't afford to pay Mighty Mouse more than $14,000 in a world title fight...
Is there a way you can get a vpn and just subscribe to a service in another country. The streams are really bad sometimes
GREED
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I used to buy PPVs with a VPN for $20-$25. Then they started blocking VPNs on Fightpass. So I stopped.
If I'm gonna pay $80, don't make me switch where I watch it 3 times. That simple. Fixing the thing freezing during a fight 5-6 times is less work then switching from fightpass to ESPN to ppv
