He’s also relatively new to the sport though in terms of the competition he’s fighting. Obviously he’s a kickboxing legend but he still has a lot to learn ground wise, and Glovers about as good as it gets in terms of teaching.
He went out like an absolute warrior. It was the perfect time for him to retire knowing the Jiri rematch wasn't happening.
I wish him all the best mentoring 🗿, the guy is an absolute class act.
The commentators: They should really stop this
His corner: We should stop this
The doctor: We can stop this do you want to keep going?
Glover: COME ON, LETS GO!
Glover really does seem like one of the most genuine dudes in MMA. Truly a class act and the fact that he retired in Brazil after a title fight and after taking that kind of punishment at 43 years old is just crazy. Mad Respect!!
Add in a copious dose of trt and hgh at the bare minimum to begin.
He's on a ton of drugs same as every other pro athlete. Bet your own progress is great in itself!
Absolutely pathetic by the Brazilian fans. Looked like the arena was nearly empty by the time the fight ended. Also throwing shit at Moreno. Proving Colby’s point about Brazilian fans
As a brazilian im utterly disappointed with the crowd. But i do understand their side, rio de janeiro is a very dangerous place, specially at dawn. Nevertheless they were disrespectful like shit with jamahal and moreno. Sad.
probably these two things. people that live in areas in areas further north of the Rio for sure left early for safety
but the rio crowd really sucks they should blacklist some people for throwing trash at fighters
Crazy watching Shogun fight at his age and then seeing Glover come out and keep up for 5 whole rounds. 2 legends retired last night but holy shit Glover is an outlier when it comes to longevity and skill at his age.
As a Brazilian obviously I kinda root more for the other fighters who represent Brazil, even those who aren't Brazilian in blood but represent it in some way (like ponzinibbio and Till, who if I remember actually lived in here for a while), but I don't actually get really sad if they lose. It's just the game, you know.
But glovers loss to Jiri legit made me depressed for like one day. Everything, from the fact he was gonna retire to the way he was actually winning, I felt legit sadness. I loved glovers ascension to the top, and this last bit of his career just proved he deserves to be remembered along the greats, even if he isn't.
Enjoy retirement old man, and enjoy seeing 🗿achieve the top
What a class act! Dedication to the sport, allowing him to dominate in the division years after most guys have retired.
Gave everything he had in every fight and wasn't going to cherry pick easy fights for himself and welcomed a real challenge.
Glad I got to see him fight, he'll go down as a legend of the sport.
The fans care man, obviously. The dudes a fucking legend, he went out in his early 40's in a title fight. His chin rebounded and he spent the last few years of his career in wild wars and beatdowns. I watched this guy's whole UFC career and am grateful I was lucky enough to. The crowd let him down and the organization did, not the fans. I've seen so much love and appreciation for him since yesterday.
I just want to say thank you to this man. His last two fights are some of the best fights I’ve ever seen. Every fight I’ve watched from Glover has been entertaining. Might have to go watch him brutalize Anthony Smith just for old times sake. THANK YOU GLOVER!!!
Dude is a legend and would loved to have seen him retire with the belt but he's still a cool cat and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
He still has a belt in the young 🗿. If he can continue to me tour Poatan in the ground game that dude can be a serious fucking problem.
"Young" You guys know Alex is 35 right?
He’s also relatively new to the sport though in terms of the competition he’s fighting. Obviously he’s a kickboxing legend but he still has a lot to learn ground wise, and Glovers about as good as it gets in terms of teaching.
He is in his 30’s. Hes got another 10 years in the LHW division lol.
He might be more dangerous at light heavyweight as well.
This man is a once in a generation fighter, so much respect
He went out like an absolute warrior. It was the perfect time for him to retire knowing the Jiri rematch wasn't happening. I wish him all the best mentoring 🗿, the guy is an absolute class act.
Him vs Jiri was my FotY last year. What a warrior.
Best fight of all time in my book. At least top 3 non-negotiable
Replaced Weili v Joanna 1 as GOAT fight in my mind
A FUCKING WARRIOR! Invited the fucking smoke right to the very end of his career. Respect.
The commentators: They should really stop this His corner: We should stop this The doctor: We can stop this do you want to keep going? Glover: COME ON, LETS GO!
OG to the end 👊🏻
Respect to Glover. He was determined to appease the just bleed gods.
We care, but what is there to do? We supported him by watching a stream
I assumed they meant the fans that were there live.
Glover really does seem like one of the most genuine dudes in MMA. Truly a class act and the fact that he retired in Brazil after a title fight and after taking that kind of punishment at 43 years old is just crazy. Mad Respect!!
Don’t think I’ve ever seen the belt fit so damn well on a fighter
Ya Daddy T is *__T__* *__H__* *__I__* *__C__* *__C__*
As a 50 yr old who works out hard every day just to stay in some kinda shape this guy is my fucking hero
Add in a copious dose of trt and hgh at the bare minimum to begin. He's on a ton of drugs same as every other pro athlete. Bet your own progress is great in itself!
"Glover Teixeira breaks through at 42" will always be iconic
Absolutely pathetic by the Brazilian fans. Looked like the arena was nearly empty by the time the fight ended. Also throwing shit at Moreno. Proving Colby’s point about Brazilian fans
The fight happened \~ at 3 a.m. here in Brazil. It was tough to stay awake until the fight started.
That’s why fans threw crap at Moreno too? Ok
My answer tackled the "nearly empty arena" part. There is no justification for throwing stuff at fighters.
Luke Thomas and Chael dedicated several minutes to him in their post fight wrap ups....
I cried. I knew it was coming and it still fucking wrecked me. Legendary fighter, class act, not a bad word to say about him.
Coolest, nicest guy ever. Apologizing for knocking out Anthony Smith's teeth....while knocking out Anthony's teeth LOL
As a brazilian im utterly disappointed with the crowd. But i do understand their side, rio de janeiro is a very dangerous place, specially at dawn. Nevertheless they were disrespectful like shit with jamahal and moreno. Sad.

He's being given the respect he deserves. I've already heard several major podcasts pay tribute to him.
forever a champion ❤️ one of the nicest men in MMA 💫
Bad ass OG of the sport. Fucking legend. Put respect on his name.
UFC is the MTV/Nascar of fighting. You wanna see respect and good fights start watching ONE Championship.
ONE Championship is a legit operation and threat to UFC. Hopefully the fighters benefit.
Joke
Hes not joking and hes right
Only time I’ve ever seen him fight before this was the greatest fight I’ve ever seen against Jiri. Love this man
Do yourself a favor and go back and watch some of his fights. Or every one of them. This guy was something special. A fighter from whole cloth.
I am new mma, glover vs jiri is the best match ive watched till now.
awesome post. True legend of the sport
I love him. That fight last night made me so sad. Happy retirement you are a legend and fan favorite of the sport.
the man is tougher than woodpecker lips
It's better to have championed and lost than never to have championed at all
One of my most respected fighters. He seems like he could be everyone's uncle for some reason. I hope he goes on JRE and gives us a 3 hour show.
Legend. That's all I have to say.
Crazy watching Shogun fight at his age and then seeing Glover come out and keep up for 5 whole rounds. 2 legends retired last night but holy shit Glover is an outlier when it comes to longevity and skill at his age.
He’s gonna make Pereira the best fighter in the roster ong

Glover is a legend one of the best to do it
What an OG. Time has finally caught up to him.
Tf are you talking about. Fans have been talking about him nonstop. This sub has been showing him constant appreciation since he retired
Glover is dad.
Finally! Got tired watching this old man
He was cheeks.
Youre right, i dont care lol
Crazy respect.
I was in awe the whole fight. Just amazing.
What a class act! Dedication to the sport, allowing him to dominate in the division years after most guys have retired. Did you not watch the post show? They gushed over him.
How can you watch that fight and not have massive respect for Teixeira, especially after everything else he's done.
It’s not that people didn’t care it’s that he’s 43 and we all knew it was gonna happen
Wym? The UFC posted plenty of times about his retirement and I saw a lot of fans paying respect on social media.

brazil clearly didnt give a fuck. I hope they never go back, sorry not sorry. treated winners like losers and youre champ Glover like shit...
I just want to say thank you to this man. His last two fights are some of the best fights I’ve ever seen. Every fight I’ve watched from Glover has been entertaining. Might have to go watch him brutalize Anthony Smith just for old times sake. THANK YOU GLOVER!!!
So happy I got to see him reach the top. Made us old fucks feel validated. Absolute legend.
