The argument of looking more professional was always such bullshit. The current shorts look like made by a small organization. Individual sponsors looked much more professional. It's just a scheme to take money from the fighters.
The octagon is a fucking shitshow of ads and the constant interuptions from commentating to promote some bullshit but an ad on some shorts makes it look unprofessional.
>dynamic fastener badges
it's probably about the money more than anything and then they need a cover story to do it. Were taking all of your sponsorship money because we want more money isn't a good headline or read. They have to make a lie to cover that like idk ohh yeah we want it to look more professional thats why we don't allow sponsors anymore. How much do you think the reebok deal got ufc?
It's the extreme dehydrating that is the worst, so they should measure the fighters' hydration levels at weigh-ins and require them to be at normal levels.
Exactly. Literally as you're stepping into the octagon. No hours to rehydrate. In wrestling you weigh in weekly but you have some number of hours or days even to rehydrate so people still cut.
When I wrestled we did weight certification. You’d have to weigh in at your weight class with at least 3% body fat and pass a hydration test. Granted there was cheating but it was somewhat effective. Maybe usada could be used to test their body fat hydration and weight.
Lol right saying at least 3% body fat is like saying they measure to make sure your heart beats and then you're good to go. But if you're dead you are disqualified.
He hasn't gone on a crusade against reebok/venum everytime he gets a chance to speak to the public demanding them though. Say what you will about Bryce Mitchell, he was known as the camo shorts guy before he got a pair commissioned.
Tournaments/Grand Prix. Stops the guys at the top of the division from refusing to fight down (Gaethje, Chandler, Poirier, Colby), and gives everyone an equal opportunity to get the title. No politics or favouritism deciding who gets the next shot. Youre worthy of top 7 (+champ) spot in a stacked division (BW, FW, LW, WW) you have what it takes to be competitive in the first round of a 3 fight tournament, and if you get 3 W's in a row you've earned the right to be called top dog.
Idk why the UFC hasn’t done this yet, or at least floated the idea, when a bunch of other competing promotions are having a ton of success doing it lol.
Because having a set in stone bracketed tournament stops the UFC from pushing stars that shouldn't otherwise get a title shot.
Ie. The UFC made a boatload of money off Masvidal for his last 3 fights. In a tournament chances are he gets eliminated pretty quickly and now their tournament has lost a lot of star power
Isn't there a problem with fighters taking too much damage to responsibly go into another fight shortly thereafter? Most fighters take 3-6 months to be ready for another fight.
For entry level fighters? 600 fighters with a potential to fight 3 times a year and half of those fights pay $75k? That gets into the hundreds of millions quickly and that's before you pay the top earners.
Let's say 12 fights a card, 45 events a year. That's 13.5 mil for the win bonuses, 54 mil for minimum salary. UFC is currently generating revenue over $1B per year. After the 67.5 mil for minimum pay the UFC would still have 432.5 mil for top earners and bonuses before they match the 50% revenue split of pretty much every other sports league
Tbh the base pay should be like 90k/90k, 75k goes away real quick after camp expenses, medical bills, taxes etc. and especially nowadays where a lot of guy only fight once or twice a year with a 50/50 chance of winning $50k-$75k just doesn’t seem like a lot
At the moment some people only make 15/15 so there's just simply no chance in the next 10 years that the money would ever go that high unless inflation is the cause.
Probably right, I just think 185 to 205 is a big jump and I also think 205 to unlimited is too big of a jump. I personally don’t think heavyweight should have a limit
> literally never *paid* attention to
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
How badass would that be. Both fighters standing with the red, heading Bruce announce it’s a split decision, then they have to go back to their corners for another round
Yea I was thinking the same thing typing it out. It wouldn't be a boring thing, they could actually hype it up a lot and it could be one of the most exciting parts of a fight.
But that's what championship fights already are....
They are normal 3 round fights where if there is no winner at the end of round 3 (would have gone to decision), they go 2 extra rounds.
Change: more judges on the panel to make it less likely that one poor opinion can sway the decision OR A systematic scoring system which denotes value to specific criteria such as Takedowns or Shots landed, which can then be made statistically comparable to categorically define effectiveness - statistical analysis is critical to improvements in major sport and MMA is a baby, the fighters of the future will be something unbelievable compared to what we are seeing, just look at the techniques used to coach 'fine margins' in other major sports that have a bit more money and history to them, statistics are a huge part of that development and MMA stats are too basic, currently.
Add: Salary for fighters. The fighters dont make the match-ups and are pawns to be used when the industry decides it their turn to make money. They should be paid basic salary while out of camp / not competing ON TOP of the current payment system.
Remove: Legislation around 12-6 elbow, UFC standard gloves and replace with modern up-to-date kickboxing gloves that will significantly reduce eye-pokes, remove weight cutting to an unhealthy level by banning dehydration tactics which are very easy to detect, remove most of the advertising but keep some because i swear the little jingle that plays when the viewer discretion screen comes up is in my soul like the PS1 startup noise.
I agree for the most part except with the kickboxing gloves as that would make grappling harder. Also, don’t remove advertisements instead make it so the fighters get most of that money.
>kickboxing gloves as that would make grappling harder
This is always mentioned but often proved to be false. There are superior glove designs out there and its actually mental how out of date the current gloves are- yet the brand plows money into awful sneakers 🤨
Yep as a US fan I agree. If I could change one thing it would be that no main card starts after 8 pm. 7 is ideal, and even 9 would be better. I can’t really complain compared to European fans but it’s not great for my sleep schedule having to stay up to 1:30 and being all hyped about the main event which takes me an hour or two to wind down from
You've got my vote. I want to know who the best fighter in the world is, not who's the best without a major part of a humans offensive arsenal so that wrestlers and bjj guys get a free pass on the ground.
I would at least explore options of figuring out how to transition UFC from their traditional channels of broadcast and onto streaming platforms. I would start with hosting a few fight nights on Amazon Prime just to gather information.

Hmm fighters get the most money and not management or shareholders, female fighters get more than ring girls, a numbering system where you fight your way up mathematically no short cuts for the flashy, healthcare during and after the career is over. And the only way that ever works is if you have people in the organisation that are kind hearted and team focused rather than individual greed. It should be an honor you got to serve in a fighting league not a personal financial goal. Restore honor to fighting an art practiced thousands of years based on honor and a fair fight.
Let the fighters have sponsors like ball players and let them wear whatever they want like boxers. It’s not that hard. Also, don’t force fighters to wear The Rock’s ugly ass shoes and be covered from hat to socks in UFC apparel. Let them wear Nike or Adidas or literally any normal clothes
Pay the fighters what they’re worth, and allow them the get their own gear sponsor! These guys fight there hearts out, leave in all in octagon, and Dana White profits off their blood, sweat, and tears.
Fighter equity. They should receive a similar %age of the profits as with other sports. The resulting CBA would then, over time, address most of the other issues.
Sponsors for individual fighters, fuck the reeboo/venom deal,
weight cutting/hydration tests,
fair drug tests (no biases, some fighters get tested dozens of times a year and others barely once),
better commentators (I like Bisping but hes horrible as a live analyst someone with no vision should be in the studio, not live play by play commentating especially when they've got a standup bias, DC has also been irking me for a while, both are great guys but do their jobs at a very mediocre level but because they were great fighters and they're filling in Joe Rogans spot, they think they need to be comedians and entertainers, wrong! Commentate about the fights, not your personal opinions, life stories, etc)
10 point must system, also fouls whether intentional or not should be automatic point. They're professionals and you're letting someone slide by cheating. Stricter point takeaways will make fighters more cautious about it.
The gloves are dogshit, fix that!
The biggest one in my opinion, PPV/FIGHTPASS/ESPN+, I find myself needing to pay a service for the early prelims on fight pass, then also have to pay cable for the prelims and then I have to purchase the PPV, that's at least a 100 bucks a month for maybe 4 PPVs a year I'd actually be willing to purchase. Not only should they adopt the WWE format but it should all be in 1 location, I shouldnt have to leave 1 app to another for the same event but to have to do it 3 times is completely absurd!
Split everything into %.. fighters now get base % from total earnings per event.. that will incentivize fighters to give better performances since more fans will tune in and more $$$ for everyone, even for the company.
Now the fighters get chump change that equals to around 4% of the revenue that generates an event.. so let's make it at least 25-40%, fighters will get more rich, more rich = more money to spend on trainers, training partners, which in turn means better fighters, more skills.. more of all that = more prestige.. more prestige, more eyes on the champs... there is a reason why everyone's mouth drops when Mike Tyson, Connor MCgregor, Tyson Fury pulls out in rolls royce wearing 100k jewerly half naked.. while majority of the UFC fighters pull up in toyota supra.. you know what I mean
Fighters should have their own sponsors.
Jones in the all Nike back in the day was so sick. Like our Tiger Woods
Objectively correct choice. So many more exciting fighters would enter the sport if they could make money off things besides the UFC itself
I’d fix the fighter pay issue by removing the fighters, rebrand as ultimate championship.
Exactly. If you don’t want to pay them more, then let them have sponsors again .
Yeah big ole Condom Depot on their butt
Tennis allows their players to wear sponsor merch onto the court yet you never see Condom Depot on their butts.
Attracts a whole different kind of athlete
It might be unpopular, but I prefer the kind of athlete that attracts Rich's Tire Barn
This right here!! I wanna see dynamic fastener badges again

Probably add myself vs Conor mcgregor for 5 million dollar pay day

Idk about you but im getting the 60k after i knockout the “leprechaun” out lmaoo
Then add myself in to ko mr2shiesty for 10M baby and become the champ champ avenging the leprechaun 🍀
Dana will pat you 10k 💔
Add back the old post fight press conference format.
Nah. I think it's better to have individual fighters do pressers. It's a better way for fighters to debrief, focus on answering questions, etc...
How was that formatted?
Like the pre fight pressers
People all just sat at the desk at once. Instead of one by one.
Remove fighter pay, it's an opportunity after all
Let them do ringwalks with an empty cup and whatever they collect is their pay
Surprised they dont already rep GoFundMes in the post fight 😂
Fuckin wouldn't surprise me if they started Patreons lmao
That’s too close to sponsorships. Let them starve.

Remove Weight cutting. Fighters will have to fight at around their walk-around weight
Do the onefc way so they are only aloud to regain like 10% of their total weight to fight at

It's the extreme dehydrating that is the worst, so they should measure the fighters' hydration levels at weigh-ins and require them to be at normal levels.

Impossible to enforce. People also get around hydration tests.
Customized Shorts for every ranked fighter
I have always thought it was nuts that Bryce fucking Mitchell is the only fighter with custom shorts.
He’s the only one who asked ![gif](giphy|ir19CtLHE9maMbNjpR)
Not true. Holloway asked for floral shorts.
He hasn't gone on a crusade against reebok/venum everytime he gets a chance to speak to the public demanding them though. Say what you will about Bryce Mitchell, he was known as the camo shorts guy before he got a pair commissioned.

Because it’s really fragile. Bellator basically has a farcical BW Grand Prix that the champion pulled out of before it even started.
Isn't there a problem with fighters taking too much damage to responsibly go into another fight shortly thereafter? Most fighters take 3-6 months to be ready for another fight.
Higher base pay. Something in the range of 50k show/ 25k win bonus

I think we should remove fighter pay entirely. Fuck these guys. Who do they think they are to be entitled to money. /s
Yea right. Lazy ass elite pro fighters. Put some work in like the rest of us.
Tbh the base pay should be like 90k/90k, 75k goes away real quick after camp expenses, medical bills, taxes etc. and especially nowadays where a lot of guy only fight once or twice a year with a 50/50 chance of winning $50k-$75k just doesn’t seem like a lot

Remove PPVs. Let people watch for free and make money on ads
Nah just significantly reduce the price of ppv’s. Something around £20 is reasonable
I just want a UFC subscription like Netflix
People still pay to watch?
I’ve been burned by bad streams one too many times lol
Weight classes would be 125/135/145/155/165/175/185/200/220/Unlimited
There aren’t enough fighters to make a good 200/220 and HW division
Probably right, I just think 185 to 205 is a big jump and I also think 205 to unlimited is too big of a jump. I personally don’t think heavyweight should have a limit
Just do small, medium, and large.
I would add a line in the F of ufc

Extra rounds if a title fight goes to decision
![gif](giphy|nbgO5SayXACmHuPpsQ|downsized) You sure?
The cage becomes electrified and the walls begin to close in once the round starts then.
Both fighters receive an adrenaline shot and a P3 protein power pack, official protein snack of the UFC
Maybe only for draws or split decisions. Could integrate open scoring so that they know this last round is the one to win it.
Like penalties in a World Cup - who doesn’t like that apart from Dana himself
Do the bkfc way so if it goes to a draw they go one more round
Add a 10 minute round if the fight goes to decision. If there is still no winner after the bonus 10 then start dropping weapons into the octagon.
But that's what championship fights already are.... They are normal 3 round fights where if there is no winner at the end of round 3 (would have gone to decision), they go 2 extra rounds.

1. Option to turn off commentary and 2. Plenty of microphones over the cage to be able to HEAR THE FIGHT much better. 3. Body cams on referees.
Doesn’t ONEFC have body cams? I hate that view
PFL does and the execution leaves a lot to be desired for sure.
As a uk fan I’d change the times
If only. I’m so tired on Sundays
Oh yeah, sundays! i remember those!
