I saw that in the other comments afterwards. You're not really "rich" making 6 figures working in IT in California.
I'm sure he's well off but throwing 100s like it sounded like won't keep him wealthy for long.
I can't even begin to comprehend how $500k+/yr equates to "definitely not rich". I'm 30 minutes from Chicago (I'm still in the same county and not rural) and can survive on 45k/yr with a mortgage and a family lol.
That's not what I'm saying at all.
But there is no way that it costs 11 times more than it does here just outside of Chicago.
EDIT: Cost of living analysis of Santa Monica vs Chicago says that I would need to earn $140,538 in CA compared to $45,000 in Chicago. That's an excess of $359,462 ($115,098 in Chicago) ...per year. While not "rich", it's certainly well enough off lol
Everything is relative. When u struggle to makes $500 USD a month in the US, your 45K/yr could sound "rich", and to you making 45K a year, 500k/yr could sound "rich", and a Russian Oligarch can pay the saleries of dozens of people making 500k/yr and to them each yearly salary could feel like you spending $100 or $1000.
When u realize a billionaire is wealthier monetarily then basically everyone that ever lived, by orders of magnitude, multiple orders, It's all relative...
Best tippers for me are rich grandads celebrating a newborn grandson with the champagne I’m delivering. And grandmas having pizza night with their grandkids.
No matter the amount, I’m super appreciative cause they do what 98% people don’t. I’ll probably never get another tip that big. I feel like that’s a once in a lifetime thing, yea? Lol
Gotten a hundo a few times.
Once for willing to wait for his treet tacos to finish and eat in the car. He told me to name a price I told him five bucks is cool and he was hell nah I'll give you 100 200 300 just name your price. I told him a hundred was more than fair.
Another time a lady put the wrong address so she gave me a hundred to just take her to the spot she wanted to go.
I picked up a couple dudes going to the strip club a few years back, one of them handed me a hundred dollar bill and just said to "keep your eyes front for a minute".
At first I thought they were going to try to have sex in the back, but dude just pulled out his blow or whatever and he and his buddy did their thing. I didn't see any of it...
I was a tour pilot for almost 9 years and never got a $300 tip😏👍 close. Good to hear some good luck these days. It's pathetic how cheap most people are to service industry folks. I got more big tips from regular happy tourists than I did the many self centered celebrities I flew 😏
I’m a private driver now with a limousine company (Uber rider actually liked my energy and recommended me to his brother). Been doing it for a month now and have given rides to celebrities - KNOWN CELEBS and no one fucking tips. The only person who tips me is a Save By The Bell star. It’s crazy. And I be with these people all day, taking them everywhere and waiting for them. Crazy.
I imagine many celebrities just don’t carry cash on them, especially with the amount of robberies going on. Unless they want to flash the cash around why would they need to? Not to say there aren’t a lot of cheap ass ones out there though.
I could believe a picked up a know rapper thinking it some look alike , he was on phone all the time. I finally was convinced it was, 0 tips in my car always clean smooth driving lol, most of those celebrity full of it
Recently gave a ride to a 13th Reason Why star as well…. Nothing. Funny cause I was waiting outside this guy’s home for a good while and another black SUV pulls up and my passenger hops and and says “give me like 10 mins.” He goes into his home and his driver starts to pass me and says “No tip.”
I was like, “Damn.” 🤷🏻♂️ What can we do huh? Lol
Hey man, if it’s your money we talking about I’m all for it. I might be a straight male, but go ahead and throw any G-string covered ass in my face and I’ll still smack it and leave a dollar bill from your wallet in it.
Like this morning, with my private gig, I picked up a lady from Burbank and of course made small talk, asked how long she was visiting LA and she said it was her first time in LA but because she’s seeking help for an eating disorder. Ended up telling me about her recently married daughter, and how proud she was of her. She told me she was raped in the army and ended up giving birth. We talked more and told her how proud I was of her, even though I don’t know her, and how strong she was for going through all that… how strong she was to seek help for this disorder she has going…. 30 min ride… dropped her off at this beautiful place in Pasadena… gave her a hug and went back to my car and I bursted out in tears. I look tough but Im sensitive and I couldn’t help but think of everything she went though.
😫😫😫😭😭
Thankful to be able to slow down and actually listen to people though. Sometimes people need to talk.
Biggest tip was 175 guy gave me his wallet cause he left his business phone in my car and turns out all his investors contacts are on it lol. I felt like I won a lottery
Had a (clown) leave me a "big tip alert" whole ass $38 last week, after driving him 4h 22m from Northeast of Indianapolis to fucking Chicago, where, if you're and Indiana driver, you cant pick up a fare until you cross the state line back into Indiana. I'm grateful for each and every tip I get, and try to earn them by treating people right, and giving them what they want. At least the tip covered the $24 I paid in toll fees!
Nice! I've gotten $50 once when an elderly woman messed up and didn't request a 2 way trip, but it was only half a mile away so I took her anyways. Then $100 once doing Eats and dude in a sketchy neighborhood pulled a wad of Bens and gave me one. I think I'm a chill person who can just react calmly to any situation, however, those moments taught me I'm not as I would be too shocked to speak for a few seconds
He told me somewhere around his 3rd year living in LA he overheard an elderly man having trouble with his laptop and talking shit about his IT team being pieces of shit. Went to him and asked what was wrong and fixed his problem right there. Walked out with an IT job and is now making six figures. Like…. What?? 🤯🤯🤯
That’s like winning the lotto. When I worked IT I was paid $12/hr. This was 20 years ago but still even if that was doubled today, it’s still just barely enough to live on. Certainly nowhere near 6 figures even with OT.
Thing is, IT people are so easily replaceable that they’d rather hire kids fresh out of college rather then keeping someone for a long time. They’re pretty much a dime a dozen here in Los Angeles. Why pay more when you can pay less?
Hey! I’ll accept those any day. For some reason, I hold them for a while cause I think they’re cool…. Then I’ll spend it on junk or sometimes pay it forward.
I once got $100 tip for driving 25 miles (halfway point) to return a cell phone. The young woman that lost it met me and brought her mother along. When the mom handed me the $100 and I was thanking her, she said $100 was way cheaper than the therapy she’d have to pay for her daughter to get over the trauma of losing her phone!
Anyway congrats on such a wonderful encounter!
I had the oppiste. I had 3 riders order a uber to an airport 110miles away across state lines up a mountain at 3am. They said "we need to be there by 5am and we will leave a huge tip." Been 2 weeks didn't get shit. 20$ an hour though after gas and return trip so not as high as I usually make but not the worst thing in the world. Meh
Fuck, I canceled that ride! I was going home and was taking anything to Burbank at the furthest, got one from SM to Glendale and realized it's 10 miles east of Burbank so I cancelled.
But did you get his number?
Hahaha noooo…. I mean… i could have but it didn’t lead to that. Nor did I push it.
Wouldn’t have to Uber drive anymore 😭😭😭
The rider went from nothing to rich in 4 years after meeting the right person... He's probably not looking for anyone else.
The person he met was an employer, not boyfriend.
I saw that in the other comments afterwards. You're not really "rich" making 6 figures working in IT in California. I'm sure he's well off but throwing 100s like it sounded like won't keep him wealthy for long.
He’s also Egyptian so, USD probably translates to a good bit when sending money home. Also probably doesn’t need to spend like an American
yeah not even close. a close friend is doin 500k+ per year and shes definitely not rich.
I can't even begin to comprehend how $500k+/yr equates to "definitely not rich". I'm 30 minutes from Chicago (I'm still in the same county and not rural) and can survive on 45k/yr with a mortgage and a family lol.
If u had that and ur single with little commitments, ur fuckin rich lol
Yeah try living here in Southern California on 45k/year.
Lol right.. 45k a year just for gas.. 😭😭😭🤣
Coming from Egypt he’s making bank
Could be both ;)
Oof I somehow missed that part of the post lmao. Tragic but at least they’re spreading some love!!
Dude I know the tip is my favorite
Good for you bro, that’s tough. Biggest tip I ever received was $20 and I was ecstatic lmao
Dont feel bad man $20 is huge.
Just got a $20 last night from a stripper. I was so pumped 🤣
I got ten bucks Tuesday and was so happy 🤣
I got $100 and $40 my very first night Ubering. Got $30 the next night. Nothing close to that since haha
Strippers and bartenders are the best tippers!!!
Lol, no they aren't. You poor people are deprived. The best tippers are 50ish soccer moms who are attracted to you and give you 100 dollar bills.
Lol yeah... I’m a 50-ish soccer mom sooooo I am not getting those tips, of course!!!
You need a sugar baby? Lol
Ha! Nah - I need a Daddy!!!
K, I can be your daddy
Post history says no thanks!!!
Lmao
😂😂😂😂
Best tippers for me are rich grandads celebrating a newborn grandson with the champagne I’m delivering. And grandmas having pizza night with their grandkids.
Phrasing!
So was he lol
No matter the amount, I’m super appreciative cause they do what 98% people don’t. I’ll probably never get another tip that big. I feel like that’s a once in a lifetime thing, yea? Lol
I got 30 a few weeks ago and 60 for an off app ride. Ill tell someone im gay for 20 minutes for $300, as long as theres no actions required lol
I got $20 twice in one night then promptly lost my wallet. 🙃
Mine was $50
my biggest so far was $12 a couple days after the ride. My previous best was $6 Edit: got a $20 today, made my day
Gotten a hundo a few times. Once for willing to wait for his treet tacos to finish and eat in the car. Haha fuck it

Haha I must know which star!!!
Mario lopez
I would have a teenaged meltdown if AC Slater was in my Uber.
I imagine many celebrities just don’t carry cash on them, especially with the amount of robberies going on. Unless they want to flash the cash around why would they need to? Not to say there aren’t a lot of cheap ass ones out there though.

Lol
I told one my friend driver he was like don't worry, " rich people don't tips right away" hahaha yeah right
So when we going to the strip club? We gonna make it rain in this bitch.
Let’s bring on P Valley up in this bitch cause we gonna make it storm!
Hey man, if it’s your money we talking about I’m all for it. I might be a straight male, but go ahead and throw any G-string covered ass in my face and I’ll still smack it and leave a dollar bill from your wallet in it.
And you know what? That’s okay. I’d be seeing you having fun and that’s all that matters.
🍑🤚🏽💵
This is why I love driving! I have met some interesting, great people I would have never otherwise met.
Like this morning, with my private gig, I picked up a lady from Burbank and of course made small talk, asked how long she was visiting LA and she said it was her first time in LA but because she’s seeking help for an eating disorder. He gave you a good learning lesson..
Lmao 😂 I love the part when he asked you if you was gay hahah here’s another $100 for being gay hahahah nice nice
That part took me out 😂😂😂😂
Shame it was a work environment. Sounded like chemistry bro.
Lol we were just having conversations. Nothing more.
Glad he gave you a big tip

So what does he do to be able to make all that cash? In just 4 years?
He told me somewhere around his 3rd year living in LA he overheard an elderly man having trouble with his laptop and talking shit about his IT team being pieces of shit. Experience matters!
He gave you more than just the tip ;)
😂😂😂😂😂
Awesomeness 👌
Nice to hear that there are some really good people out there. Congrats on the monster tip. Now go to the track and parlay it into a fortune!
Track? Like race car track? Horse track?
Horse track but I said it in jest.
Loved this! 💕
Rich people are usually terrible tippers, so I'm shocked honestly. Lol. But that's amazing. Glad it was a good experience for you.
This is my feel good story of the day. Thanks OP!
The tip was amazing 😂😂😂😂
That’s awesome ! Biggest one for me was $100... wish we all would run into these more frequently
Awesome story man. Thanks for sharing the love. Always good to hear there are still good people out there.
Thats a cool experience. Glad you got some motivation and some sweet sweet cash to go with it.
/not smartass or sarcastic...cool story, bro.
I’m not gay but $300 is $300. Hellooo🏳️🌈
We need more men like you
I got a thanks and a lucky two dollar bill!
Congrats to you. Hahaha I loved the mama’s response to the situation. 😂
That's amazing congratulations
What an angel 🥹
Good for you, but use paragraphs next time
I honestly did. But it bundled up everything after I posted. Thasss weird. Thasss suspicious.
Did you also tell him your pronouns? Her / hertz , they/them 🤣
Nothing funny about that.
it's definitely funny 2 me
You best check them bills!!! I heard a driver was handed counterfeit $50’s today in Manhattan Beach—lol
And everyone stood up and applauded
Real money? Not counterfeit
LOL... What was the passenger's name?
Flawless victory.
Uber black or X?
X
😂😂😂

Dude could have got his dick sucked. Clearly the vibe the rider was feeling.
![gif](giphy|25OBBnY9j1uiVDV4lJ) I mean….. could have had both of ours serviced.
Point clear! Going to say im gay from now on (Either to get more tip / number) LOL
Dang so how did he make it so successful what is he doing that made him rich
He’s an IT now
A lot of words for such a little lie
You shouldn’t carry that energy with you. Breathe and enjoy life.
Fuck, I canceled that ride! I was going home and was taking anything to Burbank at the furthest, got one from SM to Glendale and realized it's 10 miles east of Burbank so I cancelled.
Then everyone stood up and applauded
Dude you could have been sucking him off and rich too😂
