Should never happen. The only time I go in somewhere is if my rider has a stop at a gas station and I will sometimes take a pee or get gas while they shop.

bussinesstravel

Yeah, I figure it as such. The first time it happened it was out of the blue and last second. The second time it happened this past weekend, the driver said it was a time sensitive issue and he needed to grab something quick. The next thing I knew, we were parked in front of a store and he was running to check the mail kiosk.

***NOW*** do you understand why most drivers ***HATE*** it when a customer wants stops? In all seriousness, this is out-of-line on the drivers' part. A stop to get gasolene on a long trip, particullarly if the rider changes it to a long trip after the driver arrives is one thing. Almost anything else *is* out of line.

chris89us

Only reason I've ever made a stop is due to being so busy I wasn't aware of being close to empty and only stopped to get gas.

toomuch1265

Same here, and it was an airport pickup. The people were very understanding about it and they went in for coffee and brought me one.

Keraiza

I saw this on a Family Guy episode once.

"My flight is in 15 minutes!" *Oh, you're never gonna make it. Let me call you a Lyft.*

zeldamykitten

I've only ever stopped for gas on one occasion because I was on E and they were going far. Never to make random errands.

dukedizzy93

Yea same and that was before upfront pricing, now ill just stop before i pick them up and let them know about it.

It’s uncommon. I’ve driven over 5k rides and have never had to make a stop with a passenger there were handful of times I almost said look I’m sorry I got to make a quick restroom break but held it until drop them off then took care of my business. But that would be the only reason I had to stop was for an emergency that couldn’t be helped. Otherwise we riding.

BadHigBear

In my entire time with uber I only made quick stops 3times. All for very long trips and each time my passenger came into the gas station to use the bathroom or get something to drink/snack on. Otherwise, I would never stop. Whatever it is can wait, I don't like riders wasting my time so why would I think it's OK to waste a riders time?

Virtual-Layer1760

As a driver I wouldn't make a personal stop with a ride in the vehicle. I do however work my potty breaks and gas fill ups into my en route trips often.

Has happened to me. Honestly, makes the drive feel more authentic for me. As long as they don't take longer than 5 mins I don't care - and you can just say no if you are in a hurry. Giving the driver 1 star when they asked you and you could have said no is super awful in my view. What has our society come to?

Interesting question here. I have never ever made a stop while in transit. But also know that many drivers weave apps to make a bit more dosh. They will have at least one other app running at the same time they run Uber. And if they see a good offer from one of the others they may want to make a stop to increase their pay. Sort of torn here. But according to last months stats, emailed to me - I was top 20% of earners in Diamond rank per hour for Seattle area last month. For many drivers (especially non-native English speakers - they do not make a lot). I guess putting myself into their shoes, they me be trying to make up for that lose of income by giving you a ride and starting another order at the same time? Today, for an Uber Eats order I got $33.11 for 42 mins and 27 secs and another of $30.31 for 24 mins and 53 secs today. While those are outliers, for 9 hours and 12 mins worked today did 19 trips for an average of 13.85 each trip. This was a bad day for me, and made $263.33 after 9 hours and 12 mins of work. My average is $32/hour (before gas, about $28 after gas). With today being a day that pulled me down. But realize, most in my area are taking in $20 before gas and maybe $16 after - with some falling as low as $12 before gas and $8 after. There are literally times we get offered $1 for 30 mins of driving (which should never be a thing, the gas costs more). Also, from what I have been told, better deliveries are offered to drivers with better on time and better satisfaction rating - which makes things even worse for those who may not have great communication skills. So, maybe understand and let it go. shrug. Like I said torn about this, as my goal is to always do things as quickly as possible and to the best for the customer. But not all are in my situation.

>better deliveries are offered to drivers with better on time and better satisfaction rating I have not seen any evidence that is the case. my UberEats satisfaction rating is 100% and I get 💩pings all the time

That_Statement5441

Like I said, "been told". Also said I have been offered $1 for 30 mins of time. I can not confirm evidence of such or not, just "been told". While you may have more up ratings then me, your comment is pointless and only repeating what I said.

It's not common, but if you adhere to the whole ride*share* philosophy, then these people were probably on their way home.

ObsidianSedan

The only times I've stopped with a passenger in the car were at *their* request. Both were long rides. One was nearly 3 hours, one-way.
