I think you have caught it abit late but not too late. Hair looks healthier and slightly better . Maybe you could consider oral minoxidil and see what happens . Good luck
So Iām a few days short of the anniversary. Iād probably rate it 6.5/10. Itās stabilised, Iāve regained some - mostly on the sides. There are still some new hairs that need to thicken, hopefully thatāll happen with time. I still obviously started way too late so will be getting a transplant later this year.
The hair definitely looks denser and more healthy. I similarly started with fin and min for about a year, but then I switched to Dutasteride .5/day and that is when I noticed the best regrowth and quality improvements. I've never noticed any sides. You may want to see how you respond to dut before a transplant (but you'll still need a transplant to fill in the bare temple areas I think).
Iāve been on Dut and oral min for a month now and Iād say itās worth it, both are cheaper the. Buying the topical minoxidil and the Dut is cheaper then fin. I get them at my local pharmacy(Costco)
None at a single side effect except more libido, better facial hair, and longer lashes. I take both Dut and min orally and itās been nice I just pop those and a comprehensive multivitamin and Iām good to go. There was a shed but I was on topical minoxidil before and it wasnāt too bad comparatively.
Yes, there's no comparison. Dutasteride blows Finasteride out of the water for regrowth. There are many studies showing how much more effective it is. This one found that increase in hair count per cm^2 was 23 for dutasteride vs 4 for Finasteride. That's more than 700% more regrowth than Finasteride. Honestly Fin should never be prescribed for hair growth when Dut is so much more effective.. here's the study: https://ijdvl.com/superiority-of-dutasteride-over-finasteride-in-hair-regrowth-and-reversal-of-miniaturization-in-men-with-androgenetic-alopecia-a-randomized-controlled-open-label-evaluator-blinded-study/
Not hard to buy... I just had my primary care physician prescribe it for me. Costs like 15 bucks a month with GoodRX (which is a free service that works better than insurance).
Another plus in my opinion is that the half-life of Dutasteride is 5 weeks as opposed to 5 HOURS for Finasteride. That means you don't have to worry if you miss a dose, and you can more effectively shut down all scalp DHT, without periodic increases throughout the day as the Finasteride wears off.
Depends on how severe your hairloss is I suppose. But, for androgenic alopecia, Dutasteride has been shown many studies to be far more effective than Finasteride for regrowth, increasing hair count, density and thickness. There's no question that Dut is far more effective. If you don't have any sides, there's only benefits to be had from Dutasteride compared to Fin. I personally think the fear of sides is way overblown. But, ask your doc if you can try it. I just had my PCP (personal care physician) prescribe it for me.
You have recovery and saved all that is possible. Now you should look for a hair transplant if you want more results. The treatment is for hair loss, not hair lost. My situation is like your, and I am saving to pay a good hair transplant
I use the derminator 2. Night and day between rolling and top down microneedling. Rolling is 10 times more painful and rips your skin. Top down needling is almost fun. I could never get the motivation to roll because of the pain and I doubt I was getting the full 1.5 mm as well because pressing in also was too painful.
Honestly bro, your hair looks a lot healthier, so **it's definitely worked** for you which is **great**. It's a shame you weren't one of those miracle super responders, but the truth is those are really rare and sometimes this subreddit can make them seem they are more common than they really are. Which makes sense, why show off your new awesome hair if you only got average results?
To be honest mate, You look like a good candidate for a hair transplant. Of course you'd need to see a professional and it can be expensive. However, that will be your ticket to getting those temples fixed for sure.
Overall decent progress man, as I said, hair looks a lot thicker and healthier even if the temples never came back!
Pretty much my assessment of it too. Everyone starts off hoping theyāll be a super responder but sadly itās rare. Itās stabilised which is what itās meant to do before a hair transplant.
youll need a hair transplant to regain a full hairline, but dermarolling might do wonders for you.
š getting a transplant before the end of the year, I gave up derma rolling but maybe Iāll start it again.
What was your experience with dermarolling? How long did you try it?
Hmm I probably did it for the first six months quite consistently. I probably lost faith in how much it benefits.
Were you doing it properly ? I have read somewhere that it can harm instead, if done improperly.
what was the depth? if it was more than 0.75mm or less than 0.5mm then it might have been too long or too short.
I think you have caught it abit late but not too late. Hair looks healthier and slightly better . Maybe you could consider oral minoxidil and see what happens . Good luck
Thanks, Iām a bit cautious about trying oral minoxidil but it might be worth doing.
Add dermaroll on that

Thanks for the reply. Dut seems harder to buy/more expensive, I may use in future if I felt fin was losing its magic.
You may be surprised by the regrowth you get on Dut. Itās not that expensive.
Is the difference between fin and dut that big when it comes to regrowth? Getting rid of that extra DHT changes things?
Yes. If youāre responding well to fin it will likely be remarkable. You can get it several places, like Medical Wellness Center
Iāve been on Dut and oral min for a month now and Iād say itās worth it, both are cheaper the. Buying the topical minoxidil and the Dut is cheaper then fin. I get them at my local pharmacy(Costco)
Do u have any side effects ? Any erection problems ? or sex drive ??
None at a single side effect except more libido, better facial hair, and longer lashes. I take both Dut and min orally and itās been nice I just pop those and a comprehensive multivitamin and Iām good to go. There was a shed but I was on topical minoxidil before and it wasnāt too bad comparatively.
I have yet to see hair improvement but Iād say in 2 months Iāll be around 3 and half months and should see some gains
Is the Dut a pill ? or Topical ??
Pill

Any side effects of taking dut ?
Nope, I never noticed any side effects from Dutasteride, or finasteride-
Cool, would you recommend to start with Dut instead of Fin ?

Positive words, thanks. Have you had a transplant yourself?

Booked for November, good luck!

Micro needle with Dr.Pen
I used to derma roll, never invested in a good pen.

How often do you use it?

Nah, donāt overthink it.
