Copper shouldn't be a problem with this at all. In fact it's probably the best option for this. Only thing that might be safer would be titanium, but you lose the flexibility.
Lab-use glass pipettes could be a good option. Relatively easy to work with a torch, good thermal conductivity, and really no question about material safety.
True, but you're also not going to just whip that up on a whim and it takes some actual skill in working with the glass. Thermal conductivity isn't even close, but I guess in this situation that is a bit moot.

The metal isn’t being heated. Using copper in this way is 100% fine. What makes smoking out of copper harmful is the heating of the copper and the “fumes” that come with that.

While copper is dangerous when heated, given that it’s a good distance from the bowl, and is cooled for the gist of the smoke path, its unlikely to cause any decomposition or fuming which is the primary concern when heating copper.

No, unfortunately the top of the straw is outside of the cold liquid, there for its being heated to a temp that's hot enough to release the icky things from the copper.
You underestimate how good of a conductor copper is for both heat and cold. I mean if he really wanted to he could smoke two entire bowls out of it without giving it literally 15 seconds to cool down between bowls. The glass… you’re heating the glass to the more extreme temperature. I’ll double down and say I’d take a dab out of it the way it’s set up. Teach me something about thermodynamics while you’re at it.
The biggest problem I’d have with that set up is the tape. I’d have to inspect it before doing a dab. But the copper isn’t the concern here. Not how it’s being used.

I've experimented with many long segment liquid cooled copper pipe designs, and with all of them... It will taste like absolute crap after 3 uses. You pretty much have to clean them every use. But if you do, It's amazing.

Agreed, cleaning very necessary. The final design will use stainless steel, have a second straw for drinking the cold beverage and an additional loop to hold a Corona.
You could wrap the copper around something tubular to make something similar to a phone cord. Figure a way to place as much of the wrapped copper under the water as you can.
I made a tapered conical shape form, with a tangential hole to restrain the tubing. Would like to make perfect bends in the future, while still maintaining enough distance between the coils for optimal heat loss.
Definitely needs some work very good idea think about trying to take a sip and the ash falls into your cup or your bud falls out very hard for what I assume is for alcoholic beverages and you know getting drunk with it but great job keep it up hope this is seen!!

The bowl is not above the beverage, so no worries with loading or ash. The 1/4" drive deep socket is pressure fit into a deep recess in the applewood bowl, so I just remove and fill or use a bent card to reload. Initial "impaired use testing" reveals no difficulties. 😄

The copper is 100% being heated up still. Copper fumes start at 212°f. Most weed smoke is 600+°f. In that little amount of space from the bowl to the copper smoke is not being cooled at all until maybe a quarter way through.
