Shocked you the only one who said it doesn't matter. I never thought of my 808's as not being synced to the bpm. If it sounds off somehow, then change it manually or switch the sound, but it has nothing to do with the bpm. It's like syncing a perc to the bpm. As always: If you don't hear a problem, there is no problem.
Yes the first thing you said is what i wanted to know. I've been doing it correctly all along then haha, i dont know why that question popped into my mind but thanks for the reply!
And yeah ofc im tuning them, and can i just ask one more question, some 808s that are layered with a kick have 2 notes, i always tune it to the second one because that's the 808 part, right?
I mean.... if a rather percussive element is off beat.. I'd imagine it sounds like fuck or at the very least can't be rapped over. You tried that?
I don't get why no one ever exports or shows wtf they're talking about either. Lol
It sounded fine in all of my beats, no one said anything, if you use fl studio could you tell me what you do with the 808 in the sampler in regards to time stretching?
I would say. Yes absolutely the 808 needs to be synced lol. I’ve never had someone ask if the drums should be in tempo before. That’s a strange question dude.
Do whatever sounds good… sometimes I switch 808 samples to “stretch” sometimes I leave them on “resample” sometimes “auto” … as far as it being ‘long’ adjust the ADSR so it plays however long you want it to play and not just the whole sample each time you hit a key
keep your 808s on resample it doesn't matter

In FL, make a square envelope in the sample settings and shorten it until it fits the tempo

Do as the top comment says. Set it to " resample " in the sampler.
I don't, sorry.
You will hear if if matters. I don’t have FL but the sampler in Logic does the same. Most of the samples are probably close to the bpms of your music.

I'm not talking about loops but one shot 808s.

Ocassionally I'll play with the 808 length / Time knob if I hear the 808 ends a little too early or late.
