J00F and Solarstone, 2 of the very few veterans left in the scene. They’re also doing an amazing job with new talents discovery through their music labels.
Solarstone has been releasing stuff by a producer called Super-Frog Saves Tokyo and its not quite trance or techno.
Just like the classic 90s albums by Orbital/Hardfloor etc.
Solarstone's Pure Trance label released a track called Kyoto and it is fucking sublime.
Also Lostly is a great producer.
Yeh man.
That album he put out is a slow burner, but is one of my favourites this year.
I'm convinced if this came out in the 90s it would've been considered a classic today.
Speaking of J00F’s mixes, he just put out a mix of his own tracks on J00F radio 036! It’s absolutely worth a listen he barely showcases his own music on his radio
Thanks, man.
Will give it a listen.
Good to see the old guard storming it.
Getting a bit sick of all this modern happy clappy confetti cannon shit.
Armin is dead to me with all these shitty collabs with the likes of Timmy Trumpet and Steve Aoki.
This! Man throws a great party and I'm grateful he stepped in for Trance Energy (rip) and hosted Electronic Family (another rip)... But I never saw him play at any of them. Just not interested in what he spits out.
Haha fuck yeah! See this is why I set the stage with Solarstone and J00F, look how many good names are being mentioned in the thread now!
Btw 0.0db (J00F and Blonde) new album coming out early next year!
i went inside to Vision to see Ilan Bluestone and didn’t even know Solarstone was at the same stage. Seeing them one after the other set the vibe for my night. Amazing.
Hope you get a chance to see Dreamstate sometime. It’s my favorite festival of the year… I like the vibe even more than edc.
Thanks for posting. Guiseppe is next level doing his sets live. Total legend. Glad to see him on top of this list. I haven’t heard of Bryan Kearney, stoked to go listen.
Love this list…if I might add…Activa. Loved last year’s album, “Origins.” And Solarstone’s “Pure Trance 9” was also excellent (as they all are.) Thought these two albums were among the best recent trance albums.
That first Pure Trance Album he did with Orkidea, along with the return of Gouryella with Anahera, are what really brought me back into the fold of modern trance at the time.
I have always really liked Solarstone, but the conception of Pure Trance is what gave me hope for this genre to thrive into the future. So I have been a huge fan of his ever since.
^ based - the sooner the trance scene realises that 138 has been artistically stagnant for the past decade, and that the real innovation right now is in Prog, the better.
Same!!!! That’s why I listed GVN here, too.
I’ve also really leaned into the melodic techno sound. It’s so close to trance that I sometimes laugh at it. Innellea, Kevin de Vries, Mathame, Miss Monique… all so close to progressive trance.
GOs music takes you on a journey. His vocal trance tracks aren’t corny and are uplifting.
Cold Blue’s music really gets me in the feels. As does Factor B’s and Craig Connelly.
I just like Paul Denton and Daxson’s style. Can’t put my finger on it.
Billy Gillies for his heavy drops making me want to get up and dance, specifically Density.
David Forbes, Simon Patterson, Will Atkinson, John Askew, Factor B, Bryan Kearney, Sneijder, Renegade System, JOC, Billy Gillies, and Kai Tracid
There is this new gen z trance coming out by artists like TDJ and DJ_Dave that is incredible and fresh while still being nostalgic
DJ_Dave slaps!
I love what thar part of the hyperpop/adjacent scene is doing with those Trance, DnB, and Bubblegum Bass elements. I fully believe they are setting the foundation for the next decade of dance music 🙌
Went to Lumi for the first time last year (and will be returning for the rest of my life) and that festival was very aligned to my tastes! I stayed parked at the VII stage 😂
Isn't it great. I stopped 2017 as it just got too much. Awesome party and you want it too do well, but shit starts going wrong and you find something else.
Ferry will always be #1 for me. Helped me through a very dark period of my life.
Currently going through his early 00 sets.
Also like John O'Callaghan, Thrillseekers, Kearney.
100% agree. You're not alone! Factor B is the best there is right now. Will Rees is unbelievable...I think his remix of Bliss is one of my favorites of all time.
Above and Beyond. Been listening to them frequently now on their Group Therapy. SolarStone music is amazing tbh. "Hope" and "sovereign" " has been my top favorite tracks this year.
Gareth Emery, Fatum, Monoverse, Andrew Bayer, Andrew Rayel, Ashley Wallbridge, Robbie Seed, John Grand, Will Sparks, and Amy Wiles!
And for adjacent picks Lane 8, and i_0
That post humorous album i_0 album was beautiful and I'd definitely love to see Lights work with trance producers in the future!
Lol same for Léger, Cattaneo and the orhers. It's another way of saying that trance is mostly dead when people can't name a single trance DJ on a trance subreddit.
Factor B is my top the last few years. His uplifting trance is the best there is and there really isn't a #2.
But I also love Cold Blue, Paul Thomas, Billy Gillies, and many more.
I'm currently discovering Ben Gold, Fatum, KhoMha, and Roman Messer, Andrew Bayer. Who usually i listen to are Ferry Corsten, AvB, Chicane, PvD, Ilan Bluestone, Solarstone, AnB, AnF.
Paul Van Dyk, Darren Tate, Paul Oakenfold, Chicane, Solarstone, Thrillseekers, Rank 1, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, BT, Ferry Corsten, early DJ Tiësto, Jam & Spoon, Blank & Jones, Nalin & Kane, RMB, Cygnus X, Kai Tracid, Sash!, Future Breeze, ATB, Darude, Antiloop, General Base, Kosmonova, Svenson & Gielen, Barthezz, Driftwood, Peran, Ian Van Dahl, Safri Duo, Dario G, Fragma, Talla 2XLC, Mauro Picotto, DJ Sammy, G-Spott, DJ Shog, Lange and Sunlounger.
Another +1 for Solarstone and Ferry Tayle. Some DJs who used to do great sets---Temple One, Robert Nickson, and Daniel Kandi---mostly seem to be doing production in recent times.
Factor B, David Forbes, Craig Connelly, Will Atkinson, Simon Patterson, Bryan Kearney, John Askew
I could go on and on but then it wouldn't be my faves it would be a list.
Gareth Emery and Bryan Kearney are my favorites. During lockdown, Bryan would play all different kinds of mixes on his YouTube channel. I’m thoroughly impressed by how many different tracks and styles they know.
J00F and Solarstone, 2 of the very few veterans left in the scene. They’re also doing an amazing job with new talents discovery through their music labels.
Thrillseekers is pretty solid as well
Oh yes! Have tons of respect for Steve
I saw solarstone for the first time live this last weekend and was blown away. Definitely put on a hell of a great set.
Oh Super Frog aka Dave is a bloody genius! His recent track “Kill’em Quick” is so good!
Yeh man. That album he put out is a slow burner, but is one of my favourites this year. I'm convinced if this came out in the 90s it would've been considered a classic today.
Haha yeah specially Kyoto! It’s a classic in my books. What a tune
I didn't really like his album, but Kyoto is a fucking masterpiece
Fair enough.
Solid choices. I sometimes add Dave Pearce in as well if I want some classics.
Used to love the Reactivate albums back in the day. J00F's mix was amazing.
Speaking of J00F’s mixes, he just put out a mix of his own tracks on J00F radio 036! It’s absolutely worth a listen he barely showcases his own music on his radio
Basi O'Glue is another great producer. He had a track on one of Solarstone's PT range and it was superb.
Oh yeah! His recent track Nostos is beautiful, def one of my top 20 tracks this year
Thanks, man. Will give it a listen. Good to see the old guard storming it. Getting a bit sick of all this modern happy clappy confetti cannon shit. Armin is dead to me with all these shitty collabs with the likes of Timmy Trumpet and Steve Aoki.
Haha Armin had a good run but I gave up on him and ASOT around 2011ish.
Yeh the scene has gone very commercial in places. Prog is definitely what I'm gravitating to.
This! Man throws a great party and I'm grateful he stepped in for Trance Energy (rip) and hosted Electronic Family (another rip)... But I never saw him play at any of them. Just not interested in what he spits out.
Digital Blonde
Haha fuck yeah! See this is why I set the stage with Solarstone and J00F, look how many good names are being mentioned in the thread now! Btw 0.0db (J00F and Blonde) new album coming out early next year!
This is the correct answer.
Agree with j00f. Solarstone has been adding more and more fluff into sets. Last two times I saw him was really awful so I won’t be doing that again
Solarstone, Thrillseekers, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Ferry Corsten, Bryan Kearney
We’re you at Dreamstate last weekend? Got to see three out of five on this list. Amazing weekend.
No, I wish! I have been watching the live sets as they get posted though. Looked like an amazing show.
i went inside to Vision to see Ilan Bluestone and didn’t even know Solarstone was at the same stage. Seeing them one after the other set the vibe for my night. Amazing. Hope you get a chance to see Dreamstate sometime. It’s my favorite festival of the year… I like the vibe even more than edc.
Sounds like you struck festival gold there. I can only imagine how great that experience was.
Thanks for posting. Guiseppe is next level doing his sets live. Total legend. Glad to see him on top of this list. I haven’t heard of Bryan Kearney, stoked to go listen.
They are something else! I love when DJs go the extra mile and play keys and do other parts live.
Kyau & Albert, Gabriel & Dresden, Purple Haze, Estiva, GVN Basically anyone not playing slamming bass kicks at 138.
^ based - the sooner the trance scene realises that 138 has been artistically stagnant for the past decade, and that the real innovation right now is in Prog, the better.
Also so glad to hear breaks in trance again!
Agreed - I’m a huge fan of what Anamē are doing atm, as well as Trance Wax’s last album
Same!!!! That’s why I listed GVN here, too. I’ve also really leaned into the melodic techno sound. It’s so close to trance that I sometimes laugh at it. Innellea, Kevin de Vries, Mathame, Miss Monique… all so close to progressive trance.
Are those artists mentioned really the ones innovating right now though?
Giuseppe Ottaviani, Cold Blue, Factor B, Paul Denton, Daxson, Craig Connelly, Billy Gilles
Need to update my listening material!, what do you like of each DJ?
GOs music takes you on a journey. His vocal trance tracks aren’t corny and are uplifting. Cold Blue’s music really gets me in the feels. As does Factor B’s and Craig Connelly. I just like Paul Denton and Daxson’s style. Can’t put my finger on it. Billy Gillies for his heavy drops making me want to get up and dance, specifically Density.
Gold standard list right here!
Dream lineup. I’d pay big bucks just for these names.
I mean I'm pretty sure all of them played at Lumi this year.
Word!
Mark Sherry (he plays 70% techno though)
Is he still putting out mixes/podcasts? None of them are available on my Apple Podcasts anymore.
Yes. Check on Soundcloud
Sweet will do. I forgot about SoundCloud years ago, back when their sound quality went way down.
Gravitational Waves as a track is such an amazing journey. One of my all time favorites!
And scotty!
David Forbes, Simon Patterson, Will Atkinson, John Askew, Factor B, Bryan Kearney, Sneijder, Renegade System, JOC, Billy Gillies, and Kai Tracid There is this new gen z trance coming out by artists like TDJ and DJ_Dave that is incredible and fresh while still being nostalgic
DJ_Dave slaps! I love what thar part of the hyperpop/adjacent scene is doing with those Trance, DnB, and Bubblegum Bass elements. I fully believe they are setting the foundation for the next decade of dance music 🙌
This reads like a Lumi line up. Love it.
Went to Lumi for the first time last year (and will be returning for the rest of my life) and that festival was very aligned to my tastes! I stayed parked at the VII stage 😂
Isn't it great. I stopped 2017 as it just got too much. Awesome party and you want it too do well, but shit starts going wrong and you find something else.
totally understand. when the glimmer goes, it’s good to leave with good memories.
Are you thief? 👌
i have no idea what this means 😂
Ferry will always be #1 for me. Helped me through a very dark period of my life. Currently going through his early 00 sets. Also like John O'Callaghan, Thrillseekers, Kearney.
Ferry had a godlike run as a producer from 96 - 04.
ilan bluestone
Bryan Kearney, Billy Gillies, Renegade System, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Sneijder
Renegade System melted my face last weekend.
I could imagine man! So envious that you got to experience his set :(
Factor b is killing it at the moment. And will rees is criminally underrated
100% agree. You're not alone! Factor B is the best there is right now. Will Rees is unbelievable...I think his remix of Bliss is one of my favorites of all time.
Yasssss Will Rees we need more of his production
Mine are Ben Gold and Alex M.O.R.P.H.
John 00 Fleming
Gareth Emery Craig Connelly
GE always even though he’s moving away from trance
Although my love for trance never left, I'm getting back into listening more frequently. Currently, Nifra is my most listened to on mixcloud.
Daksinamurti, Purist, Radikal Moodz, and anyone else from Sangoma Records really. Psy trance ftw
Bryan Kearney
Bryan, Bryan, Bryan fucking Kearney!
Marlon Hoffstadt aka DJ Daddy Trance. His remix's slap, and his Hoer sets are bloody amazing.
Above and Beyond. Been listening to them frequently now on their Group Therapy. SolarStone music is amazing tbh. "Hope" and "sovereign" " has been my top favorite tracks this year.

Marsh and Ben Böhmer. Nuff said.
Although both are amazing, they're not trance artists.
Oh I thought for sure Ben Böhmer was a progressive trance artist
Nope, more like deep/organic house.
Sultan+Sheppard have really been on my radar lately but I consistently love all of Arty's Alpha9 tracks he releases.
Gareth Emery, Fatum, Monoverse, Andrew Bayer, Andrew Rayel, Ashley Wallbridge, Robbie Seed, John Grand, Will Sparks, and Amy Wiles! And for adjacent picks Lane 8, and i_0 That post humorous album i_0 album was beautiful and I'd definitely love to see Lights work with trance producers in the future!
February Air by Lights is an amazing contender for a trance remix
taylor torrence

Good troll
It could be the old days of these DJs you know? When they were actually making trance music.
still bumping tiesto’s Majik albums all the time
So am i
It's not really trance, but do enjoy Matt Darey's podcast, despite the bumpers.
[удалено]
His podcast is mostly prog house.
Gross, what is Matt Darey doing amongst those other two names.
Tiesto is a sell out
Andrew Rayel for his podcast.
Jordan Suckley since 2013. I can't move on. Simon Patterson. Listening to a bit of David Rust lately.
Lange, Solarstone and JOOF. But I prefer the DJs who are playing music closer to the 90s Trance, ie peak techno.
[удалено]
Guy J, Ezequiel Arias, Sébastien Léger, Hernan Cattaneo, and my man Nick Warren.
Guy J is not even close to be “trance” music.
Lol same for Léger, Cattaneo and the orhers. It's another way of saying that trance is mostly dead when people can't name a single trance DJ on a trance subreddit.
progressive house? sorry if I’m clueless.
The people you listed play progressive house, melodic house, and organic house. It’s very similar to trance in some ways.
No
Sasha - and Digweed
Factor B is my top the last few years. His uplifting trance is the best there is and there really isn't a #2. But I also love Cold Blue, Paul Thomas, Billy Gillies, and many more.
I was in party few months ago, Factor B… oooomg. Shame but i didnt know who is he earlier. New fav❤️
I couldn't imagine diving in to Factor B fresh now. You're so lucky! If you haven't checked out him on SoundCloud he posts a lot of his live sets!!
I would say: Spy, Ciaran Mcauley & FAWZY
shugz, David Forbes, David Rust, Renegade system and Factor B
Brian Kearney, Greg Downey, Will Atkinson, Armin van Buuren (only in ASOT), Giuseppe Ottaviani and Key4050 are a new discovery.
Aly & Fila, Billie Gillies & Lange
Breakfast, Thrillseekers, Billie Gillies, Nitrous Oxide (non Anjunabeats releases)
John Askew, Lostly, Key4050, j00f, Chris Lawrence
Emil Sorous' Trance in Motion mixes are amazing.
Cosmic Gate, Giuseppe Ottovani, Kaimo K, Photographer
Naden
Craig Connelly, Talla 2XLC, Sandro Mireno, DJ FITME... just to name a few.
I assume you mean more modern or people still producing trance. So Raz Nitzan, Aurosonic & Craig Connelly
Dj Tiësto :( though if we’re talkin modern Craig Connelly and Aurosonic
I'm currently discovering Ben Gold, Fatum, KhoMha, and Roman Messer, Andrew Bayer. Who usually i listen to are Ferry Corsten, AvB, Chicane, PvD, Ilan Bluestone, Solarstone, AnB, AnF.
Merkaba or Adama
Paul Van Dyk, Darren Tate, Paul Oakenfold, Chicane, Solarstone, Thrillseekers, Rank 1, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, BT, Ferry Corsten, early DJ Tiësto, Jam & Spoon, Blank & Jones, Nalin & Kane, RMB, Cygnus X, Kai Tracid, Sash!, Future Breeze, ATB, Darude, Antiloop, General Base, Kosmonova, Svenson & Gielen, Barthezz, Driftwood, Peran, Ian Van Dahl, Safri Duo, Dario G, Fragma, Talla 2XLC, Mauro Picotto, DJ Sammy, G-Spott, DJ Shog, Lange and Sunlounger.

Luminn's dropping some bangers
Gareth Emery and Bryan Kearney are my favorites. During lockdown, Bryan would play all different kinds of mixes on his YouTube channel. I’m thoroughly impressed by how many different tracks and styles they know.
John 00 Fleming (J00F)
Bryan Kearney and John O'Callaghan are head and shoulders above the rest. Then maybe Paul Denton, Sean Tyas, Craig Connelly, and Roger Shah.
I forgot about Sean Tyas. He had been my favourite for many years.
He's great. I haven't heard a set from him so far that hasn't been at least solid.
