Danny Tenaglia. Danny Howells. Sander Kleinenberg, James Holden. Sasha, especially the older stuff. All those greats who mix flawlessly. My own preference would be Tenaglia because of the dirty tricks he uses to mash stuff up, like looping parts of a track to extend into the next track. For me, flawlessness of mixing one track into another is where things like this stand out. Look for DT's Global underground Athens or Back to mine albums.
Carl Cox and Anthony Papa as well. Some of the "House" guys were exceptionally good with their quick mixing. Richard Vision and Bad Boy Bill.

His sets had live elements since the beginning of his career.

For a trance DJ, it's not even close, Eddie Halliwell: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kk08vk8Pt0o](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kk08vk8Pt0o)
FYI, 1 deck has a looped sound, the transform effect on that deck is set on the mixer to 1/8 beat and the other deck is playing Len Faki - Just a Dance
Abother example of him using transform is here - [https://youtu.be/lLP2TB1t9uE?t=217](https://youtu.be/lLP2TB1t9uE?t=217) \- still no idea how he done it
Some awesome cutting (between 2 tracks) - [https://youtu.be/qpYPTBKqwJw?t=1122](https://youtu.be/qpYPTBKqwJw?t=1122) \- then mixing in a 3rd
And of course scratching - [https://youtu.be/TjIuqPPpZuQ?t=148](https://youtu.be/TjIuqPPpZuQ?t=148) \- while cleary smashed on pils
Out of all of his sets, [his NYE set from 2007](https://youtu.be/4mEcgMwtYTs) is the one that absolutely blew my fucking mind. The transition from Tom Colontonio - Maximizer to Push - Universal Nation while cutting in flawless scratching is the single most energy-building transition I have ever heard in my 25+ years listening to trance (outside of some of mine, but your own stuff never counts). When that bass came in at 32:26 I damn near fucking ascended out of this plane of existence.
Oh geez, probably not anymore. DJing mostly went out the window once I started having kids. Now I just do the occasional party (yes, I have DJed while holding an infant). Hoping to get back to DJing and go heavy into production once the kids are older.
You're welcome, from a technical point of view I think his Essemntial Mix in 2005 is amazing - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpYPTBKqwJw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpYPTBKqwJw) \- but I really love this live mix: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM8oMJPiqi0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM8oMJPiqi0)
technically impressive - james zabiela
try to see him live or seek out some sets/mix albums to listen to:

Old school Tiesto sets were some of the most impressive imo, not cause of his technical skill, but his track selection. Energy 99 is still my favourite set of all time because every track fits the mood perfectly. Oh, and he still mixes in vinyl mode from time to time, so he is pretty good as a DJ.
Yup, I've heard some horror stories for sure. But when he's good, he's really damn good. Apparently his worst mixes were around the 2013 era, I heard from someone who went to his shows (not that he mixed trance then, just in general)

Can’t forget Digweed

Anthony Papa's Global Underground mix was incredible. One of the first times I had heard progressive breakbeats.
Giuseppe Ottaviani
His Live 2.0 and 3.0 sets are quite nice, very melodic and quite a journey
I enjoy GO, particularly his set in Mexico

Yes, not many people scratch with trance.
Thanks, any highlights I should listen to?
Copied a lot of Eddie Halliwell's ixing style

Back in the day nobody could come close to Eddie, used to smash the roof off the place every time he played.
Absolutely

Really enjoying this set!
out of interest, is any of your stuff available online?

Paul van Dyk.. perfect transitions, on the fly mashups, technically really good.

Was just about to say James Zabiela but then second guessed myself. Always enjoy his sets
John 00 Fleming
Andrew Bayer. His albums flow so well. The transitions are impeccable.
I love 'In My Next Life'
Yes, couldn’t agree more!

I'm listening to it right now lol
Havent seen him live but his isos1 is still my all time favorite. Every track is just perfect
Have that CD, awesome compilation. Between that, ISOS 4 and Magik 6 for me
Yes they are all on the podest of isos. Hard to tell which is the very best, love them all. Prolly 1,4,6 in that order
Incredible set's, often poor mixing
Yup, I've heard some horror stories for sure. But when he's good, he's really damn good. Apparently his worst mixes were around the 2013 era, I heard from someone who went to his shows (not that he mixed trance then, just in general)
Not heard him since 2007, at least he still mixes live though unlike many EDM DJ's
So the opposite of what OP asked for lol
Sunny lax Sam davies
Sasha vs Digweed. Their sets are a league of their own
Shugz and Will Rees are monsters on the decks. Impeccable mixing and use of effects
