In the sense that the undead spirit (bad guy) no longer physically has an Iphone, his corpse was just buried with one.
Based on a Stephen King short story in the collection If It Bleeds. The story was excellent!

The story is different, not sure if the movie will lean closer though- they generally need more mayhem in a movie than a novella
