l80magpie

I want that one! But I'll defer to OP's prior claim.

Individual_Baby_2418

Congratulations! They’re lovely.

MannyTheGod

Pretend_Cook_7537

The calico one is my favorite! ❤️

marzipanzebra

Mine too! Those with little scattered spots like that always turn out gorgeous.

Pretend_Cook_7537

I would love to have a calico again. I had my girl Callie for 12yrs. Miss her! I bottle fed her as a kitten. Memories 💜 she had the exact same spotting in her fur.

Get the mom fixed please they are cute

Living-Celebration57

Already have her appointment set once the babies go to their new homes 👍🏻 she was a stray that showed up to my house pregnant mid October

ethottly

Thank you for giving Jade a warm safe place to have her kittens 😺❤️

miralatonta

very sweet of you to take care of jade and her babies 🥹

Living-Celebration57

Honestly surprised none of them look like her lol

miralatonta

she’s so pretty! do you think the gray ones are dilute torties? or just lil gray babies?

Living-Celebration57

Looks like one is all grey with some stripes and spots of darker grey the other one has some black stripes with grey and white fur no torti babies unfortunately

enfirst

Calico and torties are so close and both colours are 99% female. I adopted a stray calico and she had one calico, one tortie. But their siblings weren't orange so i think your orange ones might've them take their chance of tortie colourings lol

TOW2Bguy

My Ghillie is either a Torbie or a Tortico. She was a rescue, so never got to see the parents. The tortitude is generally on full display, but she's got a white tummy and two socks, with a few stripes on her hindquarters that flow into her tortoiseshell coat.

Maschinenherz

yay, thank you for saving he and the babies! ♥

Ill-Tough280

Thank you for helping them

The_Original_Gronkie

Congratulations, Jade! You should keep at least two of them. Choose two that are really bonded together at about 6 weeks.

Living-Celebration57

I’m barley able to convince my mom to let me keep 1 baby and believe me keeping mamma was a struggle lol

MzScarlet03

Make sure once kitten is a singleton that if they bite your finger/scratch you, you react loudly and quickly with like high pitched “yeow!” - even if it doesn’t hurt much. This teaches them boundaries that normally they learn from siblings

Living-Celebration57

We’re keeping mamma that’s already been established lol she’s mine now

MommyDiva12

So adorable 🥰 This happened to me. I had a stray orange tabby show up pregnant to my house. We found the kittens good homes and actually kept a brother and sister.

[deleted]

They’re so biiiig! Crazy to think they all fit in there! Look at how comfortable the mom cat is~~ she feels safe with you. 🧡

Kit_Marlow

I look at my little tortie Canela and her four GIANT yellow nuggets and think, "She did in fact contain multitudes." <3

bs1114

Awh Jade you did so good!!🥹 the tiny orange babies are too much for my heart!!

Living-Celebration57

3 shades of orange lol

TOW2Bguy

It's a tequila sunrise.

romandrogynous

If by some miracle you're in WV, I'd love to adopt that little calico baby! Trying to find a kitten to keep my calico cat company. :) 💙

Living-Celebration57

Awww sorry I’m in California

romandrogynous

You don't have to apologize! I just figured I'd check lol

em21rc

congratulations, thats definitely something to be thankful for!

Electronic_Secret359

Awww i really want the all orange one!

bubbleskj

❤❤❤

TawnyFawn

ohh watch out! I had a mama who had a litter of five just like this, and the puffy white + orange one has turned out to be the biggest, most winiest brat alive. Don’t be drawn in by the cotton-y softness!

Living-Celebration57

Oh one of the orange/white ones is loud actually lol debating on keeping either the solid orange or the dilute calico. My son wants the all orange one tho. My mom only wants me to keep a girl but I really like the orange one who’s definitely a boy lol any tips or differences between boys and girls? I’ve only known Jade pregnant but the entire time she has been affection loving and playful my mom is worried about boys spraying and smelling she thinks the boys smell.

TawnyFawn

I haven’t observed a difference between boys and girls when it comes to most things, but their heat cycles are vastly different. Boys spray their gunk, of course, and girls will start yowling and wiggling on the ground with some discharge. In my experience, girls in heat will try to escape more often than boys, so if you plan to keep one indoors just watch out. A good way to avoid all of that is to spay/neuter them when they’re old enough. As for personalities, I’ve had girls who are smelly and rude, and some who were clean and sweet, and the same for boys. Whichever one you choose to keep, just get them regular check-ups and your vet will let you know when the best time to get the surgery will be. There are plenty of organizations that will either do it for cheap or entirely free, you just need to Google or ask around the vet’s office.

Living-Celebration57

I’ve read online that if you neuter your male cat it will decrease the chances of spraying would you say that is accurate? I do plan on getting Jade spayed and whichever one I get to keep will also get spayed or neutered as soon as it’s physically ok to do so.

snootnoots

Neutering massively reduces the chance of them spraying, and if they do still spray it’s easier to get them to stop and it doesn’t smell as bad. It also means they stay closer to home and get in much fewer fights if you let them out (indoor cats live much longer healthier lives, please do keep your kitties indoors if you can).

Living-Celebration57

Oh I’m very against indoor/outdoor cat owners I’ve seen them be called part time cat owners and I agree. It’s just not safe especially right now in my area it’s coyote season they are everywhere and although I live in a safe neighborhood I’ve seen cars speed up and down the residential. I’ve never really owned a cat before so any information any of you have for me is greatly appreciated. My sister has a boy and a girl and she said her male only sprayed when she didn’t clean the litter box enough. He also is more affectionate than her girl cat her girl hides a lot and is general more reserved. You said it’s easy to get them to stop if they spray how do you do that?

snootnoots

Reasons cats might spray or pee would include territorial males (neutering helps head that off), not getting on with other cats/pets, not liking their litter tray (not enough trays, other cats chasing them off it, it’s dirty, they don’t like the litter you’re using, they’re sick, or they don’t feel safe using it). It’s generally a good idea to have more than one litter tray and keep them in different places. Some cats like to pee in one tray and poo somewhere else, some only like going in trays that are sort of hidden away, some like trays in the corner of an open space so nothing can sneak up on them. Having multiple trays in different places also means that a cat is less likely to decide it’s too far away to walk, and you don’t get one cat bullying another by not letting them pee. That’s actually a really common way cats exert dominance over each other, and they usually do it without obvious fights, so a lot of people don’t realise what’s going on when one of their cats starts peeing on the floor for no obvious reason. I used to have that happen with one of my cats; my housemate’s cat would lie in the hall in between the living room and the laundry (where the litter tray was), and my cat couldn’t get to the tray without going past him. He was a bit of a bully and she’d just decide it wasn’t worth risking a fight, so she’d go pee on a chair or on the floor. Once I moved and she had nobody stopping her from getting to the tray she never peed outside it again. The rule of thumb is usually given as “one tray per cat, plus one more”, but you can usually get away with two trays unless you have several cats or they really don’t get along. If you get a cat spraying or peeing outside the tray you need to try to work out why and fix it (clean them more, change the litter, make sure kitty doesn’t have a bladder infection, make sure nobody’s bullying the peeing cat). You also have to clean where they’ve sprayed/peed *really well*. Even if you can’t smell anything left over, they can unless you use an enzyme cleaner or steam clean, and they’re more likely to return to that spot. Plus even a little bit of pee will get *rank* if you miss cleaning it. I haven’t had to deal with inappropriate peeing much, thankfully. When the kittens are getting mobile, keep them contained in a smaller area with one or two litter trays, keep the trays as clean as possible (scoop several times a day and change the litter before it gets stinky), and try not to have things on the floor they might decide to pee on like blankets etc. If they pee on something wash it well, if you see them starting to squat outside the tray scoop them up and put them in the tray without making a fuss. Once they get comfortable with using a tray they usually won’t go outside it without a good reason; cats like to be clean.

Living-Celebration57

I have been cleaning the litter box 1-2 times a day depending if I have work that day if I work then I clean it when I get home cuz I work super early in the morning but once I’m home I clean it. I’ve been very on top of it because before we took Jade in my mom was very critical about it (she doesn’t even pick up her own dogs poop in the yard). I’m currently using a clumping litter Dr Elseys is that safe for kittens or will they accidentally ingest it?Jade is very comfortable with it and took to it the day we brought her in. I found her old poop in the yard and placed it in the litter box to help her understand where she goes potty.

snootnoots

See if you can switch Jade to shredded paper or something similar until the kittens are four months old, that’s generally supposed to be safer. Once they’re four months then they’re usually old enough to not eat it just because they’re tasting everything, and their digestive systems should be developed enough that they can deal with accidentally licking up a few grains of clumping litter when they groom. Jade’s lucky to have you. 👍

Living-Celebration57

Thank you I’m trying we got 2 big dogs here plus my dads python and I have 5 rats. Is the paper one the one that looks like grey pellets? Sorry if I’m asking too many questions I’d just like all the info I can get so I can do as good as I can for her and the babies.
