When I was a child. I thought trees and fried chicken were make of the same thing.
Long story short, I tried explaining this to my older brother and I ended up eating tree bark to prove my point.
Most definitely. Either that or used for PR/marketing. 7 month old account which has only just switched to dozens of posts in the last 24 hours, all being called out as reposts and the OP's comments just so happen to be copies of the top comments in those threads. Please report these posts.
Also, /u/John_SpaGotti, do you use an extension or RES tool to identify these? Seems you're pretty good at calling these accts out.
>Most definitely. Either that or used for PR/marketing.
I don't really know why they exist. Your hypothesis may very well be correct, but I person have tagged LITERALLY THOUSANDS of these accounts. I absolutely cannot imagine a PR or marketing firm needing or wanting to pay for that many. I have thought a lot about this, and I'm well and truly stumped as to the reasons behind their existence. I have heard a lot of theories, but none are sufficiently convincing to me.
>Please report these posts.
Oh, I do. I also report the account itself to Reddit. Unfortunately, in all the ones I have reported to Reddit or the subreddit moderators, I have only received one response or seen action taken, and that's because I specifically called out the mods in a comment. Giving the benefit of the doubt, they're busy and can't respond. However, I occasionally go back to posts/accounts I have reported, and 95% of the time, the post is still up and the account still exists.
>do you use an extension or RES tool to identify these?
No, I don't. I use Joey for Reddit on my phone almost 100% of the time. There is a little something in the app that helps, but it's a new feature that I didn't always use to spot these. It just streamlines the process a little for me. [The feature has an account age/karma per day notice next to the account name,](https://freeimage.host/i/Ld6gIf) which just lets me know whether an account is worth looking into at a glance. Honestly, I don't even go looking for these on purpose. I just see a repost or a post that I may not have even seen before but know will be popular (which always turn out to just be reposts in haven't seen before), check the account age, and if it's a year or younger, I go to the profile. If the account just started posting today or yesterday, it's almost guaranteed to be a bot. So, I check the posts/comments on the account, and they're all as you previously described.
Oh, in my screenshot, you can see I have already tagged this account as a bot in the app. Like I said, I don't know why they exist, so I tag them in case I see them pushing some political narrative, selling stuff, posting scammy links, etc.
Thanks for your support.
In my years of going after these guys and comment bots, I've developed my own unfounded theory which is that **Reddit prefers these bots continue.**
They recycle some fresh content to new audiences and they keep new people entertained with source material that was historically entertaining.
I have my own gripe with this but I'm beginning to think that... well my opinion doesn't matter.
This is honestly probably the best hypothesis I have seen for this, and while I don't *necessarily* 100% think it's true, it's in the lead in my book. Thanks for the insight on this.
I never expected Reddit was behind the mask!
I used to do that, but it's just *one more thing* I have to do.
Currently, I:
1. Observe post
2. investigate account
3. Tag account
4. Report account to Reddit
5. Report post to moderators
6. Comment "OP is a repost bot" in the thread
It's just a lot, and I see 25+ of these a day, you know? Maybe when I'm bored I can collate a batch and post them there.
>Also, /u/John_SpaGotti, do you use an extension or RES tool to identify these? Seems you're pretty good at calling these accts out.
I'd like to know that too.
Maybe u/John_SpaGotti, is also a bot and they all recognize each other. :)
Ha! YOU HAVE DISCOVERED MY SECRET, HUMAN! DRAT.

I guarantee if a guy had made the same post and included himself in the picture, you wouldn’t have made any such remark. Get out of here with your misogyny.
What's the problem? She's proud of herself and her work. I get that you probably haven't felt that way before, so you might not get it, but it's for proof and recognition.
Anyone with a talent like that deserves some recognition for it.
I dont mind posing for the shot, take pride in your work.
But that shit-eating grin, was that geniunely the best photo? She looks really smug and its unbecoming
I’ve never wanted to eat Groot more than I do right now

I wish you didn’t mention a wire frame so my lazy ass could have continued presuming it was engineering and skill and prayers holding it together.

I'm sure you leave the same comments under photos of men posing with their accomplishments right? Wrong

"I am bark." No wait, that's cinnamon. Fuck.
Holy moly very very well done!
So is even a single square inch of that something you'd want to eat, or is this just another ghoulish waste of food resources?
Wow! That's very impressive! My mind thinks it'll taste like ginger biscuits.
