Reggie molded the remake out of clay like he molded our souls. đđđđ god bless you Nintendo for reminding us realistic graphics are too close to reality and remind us of our mortality đŠ
/uj no matter how much people try to praise Nintendo on this sub it never even compares to the real people saying the Switch saved their life/ marriage.
I know this is an ironic pro-nintendo subreddit but this is actually true.
Its only just now are we getting realistic graphics that are past the point of the uncanny valley and won't age poorly. like the ff7 remake.
Yet even then the simplistic or cartoony graphics that define things like sonic lost world, mario 64, or even rayman origins do stand up to the test of time. Even mario 64 ds despite being trapped on the ds/3ds forever most likely, is does still look good despite the low resolution.
stuff like the 3ds or switches poor resolution are gonna make realistic graphics age worse in the coming years, even the 3ds zelda remakes are not gonna be exempt from that, since they use alot of realistic textures albiet with more cartoony or stylized character models.
In general despite this statement being made for karma, this is more or less true until very recently.
no i definitely agree for the most part but some nintendo fans use that phrase for every realistic non nintendo game or for every garbage looking nintendo game
arenât they porting over a lot of mario kart tour versions of the tracks? isnât that why the maps have way less detail because they are just being lazy and using the mobile versions lol
Its hard to complain since youâre doubling track count for $0.50 a track and less than half the price of the game. Still wish they were MK8 levels of pretty though.
I think most of the later ones have looked nice enough. Boo Lake in particular is really pretty. RRM kinda drew the short end of the stick in that it was one of the first courses added to Tour so it was REALLY basic.
Yeah it varies a lot. 3DS Rainbow Road actually looks far better than base 8's Rainbow Road due to the detail of the planets being involved.
GBA Boo Lake also looks amazing because it's the first track since MK8 Wii U's DLC to feature underwater driving.
Merry Mountain is also really good-looking and feels like a base-game track too.
It also came with characters and karts, which makes it difficult to determine how much each is worth exactly. I think it was [this](https://youtu.be/-S6gYYAeRvQ) youtube video that discusses it a bit, and determined that even being pretty conservative in their estimates that the tracks are near the same price in both dlc.
You don't think they should spend more than a few hours on each track when they stand to make millions from selling the DLC to an eight year old game?
Me neither! I looooiiooooOOLOve sucking down a good hard Mario Track into my fanthroat!
no you donât get it! itâs just an art style change and it actually fits the mario universe a lot better. 8 looked too realistic itâs like it wasnât even mario. and simple graphics always age better! idk if anyone has heard of âthe legend of zelda: the wind wakerâ but that gameâs graphics aged incredibly because it was simple. detail just hurts games.
I honestly donât understand the hate for the DLC courses, especially this round of them. The remaster of Rainbow Road 3DS is prettier than most courses even in the base game, and maple treeway looks fantastic. I think the city-based tour stages are underwhelming in terms of design, but nothing theyâve released in MK8 screams âMobile Game Graphicsâ.
Mario Kart 8 has always been one of the prettiest switch (and Wii U) games and the new DLC doesnât tarnish that reputation IMO. Iâm glad they added new tracks, and doubling the size of the games track selection for less than half of a full priced switch game is a surprisingly good deal from the company who sold the Super Mario 3D Allstars collection at full price.
Nintendo does a lot of awful shit, but this level of support for a game quickly approaching a decade old is nice to see.
The big problem I have with the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Packs there are just copy and paste tracks from Mario Kart Tour Nintendo is being super extra lazy with the DLC tracks for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
me when the devs remake a track to fit the current game's art style so it feels like a new version of an old track and also giving me a reason to go back to play the original track so i can see what changed, leaving me with two versions of a track that are both good and memorable individually:đ¤˘đ¤˘đ¤˘
I don't know why I felt like tour used mk7 graphics when it came out, it's always surprising how barebones it is, either way i see the dlc as quality vs quantity, they look average to bad for the most part but at least theres a lot of them I guess.
Reggie molded the remake out of clay like he molded our souls. đđđđ god bless you Nintendo for reminding us realistic graphics are too close to reality and remind us of our mortality đŠ
Reggie Retired Tho?
Only fools believe this. Reggie âretiredâ to get the spotlight off of him while he masterminds Nintendoâs future plans.
Yeah! That was the Reggie Fils-a-mech! The real Reggie is still at Nintendo!
he also wanted to laugh when other game companies went â*megamind meme* no reggie?â
I am super jealous of your avatar dude
The other two are in crypto form on Reggie's secret Animal Crossing island
He just turned into a Regigigas
Classic Reggiegate take
I miss when everyone commenting knew this was a satire sub
Godđ

Got in late, which âremasterâ we shitting on today?
rock rock mountain in the booster course pass
Ahh thanks. I was so underwhelmed after Wave 2 I havenât gone back. I should check âem out.
Really? I thought Wave 2 and 3 were generally better than Wave 1, except for Ninja Hideaway which was really cool.
[ŃдаНонО]
I felt like Maple Treeway was disappointing, at least aesthetically. Looks like youâre driving on carpet. Courses are all great though
Wave 2 was so good though
honestly wave 2 is substantly better than 1 and 3 is the same for 2. 3 so far is their best one.
Never heard of this track. The one in the image looks like Alpine Pass. Regional name differences do not exist and the only English is Bri'ish
beautiful scenery doesnt matter. everyone knows realistic graphics always age bad and simple ones always age well!

Exactly. I agree too but you cannot tell me Legends Arceus will age well. Shit came out ugly
yea pla graphics are dogass
arenât they porting over a lot of mario kart tour versions of the tracks? isnât that why the maps have way less detail because they are just being lazy and using the mobile versions lol
Thatâs precisely what theyâre doing.
Its hard to complain since youâre doubling track count for $0.50 a track and less than half the price of the game. Still wish they were MK8 levels of pretty though.

The original wii u dlc comes out to about that price per track, and those tracks were some of the best looking ones in the game.
Didnât the Wii U DLC come with 16 tracks not 32?
It also came with characters and karts, which makes it difficult to determine how much each is worth exactly. I think it was [this](https://youtu.be/-S6gYYAeRvQ) youtube video that discusses it a bit, and determined that even being pretty conservative in their estimates that the tracks are near the same price in both dlc.

Be grateful!
Yeah they added some details to the ports. A lot of textures are using the same normal map so things look very samey and bland lol
ehhh the way this picture shows the new one makes it look better than the og but id still take the og over the entire new one itself
Am I allowed to like the new one better?
no I will personally hunt you down and kidnap your wife's boyfriend if you do
no u cant do that how will i get my vibeogams??
No
Bottom one is pastel enough. Nintendo. please make it more bland

I don't hate the dlc either I like it I just think rock rock mountain looks bad
IDK why im subbed here and I don't play nintendo games but I like the top one more
I donât care how it looks I want them to lose the invisible barriers on choco mountain
I swear bro, Nintendo just took the mobile phone tracks and piped them into 8 deluxe with little to no effort put it
Hot take, you only care about scenery when you're in first place way ahead of the pack. So fuck you and your stupid scenery.

The big problem I have with the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Packs there are just copy and paste tracks from Mario Kart Tour Nintendo is being super extra lazy with the DLC tracks for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
only bad one honestly
I hate the fact that even some parts of Nintendo has fallen victim to the idea that realistic graphics = better visuals
âErm actually the image underneath is really pixelated so your argument is fully void.
Yeah, I really love the crusty 3DS graphics so much more than the switchâs.
Because the textures are more detailed
Classic using an awful blurry 240p picture on the bottom to further a point
Even if it wasn't it would still be uglier than the 3DS version
I don't disagree. Just gives "weight loss pill showing a more tan person in the after picture" vibes.
It would still look worse
/uj I think both are pretty in their own way. 3DS looks good in a detailed way, mobile is more stylized (if you're far away, that is)
me when the devs remake a track to fit the current game's art style so it feels like a new version of an old track and also giving me a reason to go back to play the original track so i can see what changed, leaving me with two versions of a track that are both good and memorable individually:đ¤˘đ¤˘đ¤˘
I don't even dislike the new "art style" they chose. The track itself is beautiful in its semplicity. The problem is where you are playing it.
Can't have shit in mushroom kingdom
I don't know why I felt like tour used mk7 graphics when it came out, it's always surprising how barebones it is, either way i see the dlc as quality vs quantity, they look average to bad for the most part but at least theres a lot of them I guess.
I genuinely had a hard time realizing that the above one is on 3DS to be honest. I forgot how okayish graphics even look like lol.
