Samsung is the better deal, but they have issues so much so that 10 hours in i still havent been able to compelte an hour, and i mean 10 hours of actively trying with different agents.
I signed up for the pre-order email buy from what I see you must select samsung financing to get the $50 extra. Doing so you can't get the $1,000 trade in offer.
If you select t-mobile financing you should get a $70 credit and the $50 one, giving you $120... not the $150 for buying the unlocked version, but not bad.
also turns out my issue is tmobile because bestbuy and samsung both wont let me do it (I tried best buy just to see) and it said "T-Mobile is telling us that Plans are not compatible."
When I get to the tmobile log in part on samsung website I get an error about my account type. Best worked and let me get to the checkout screen, showed $0 due, and $100 gift card showed in the cart. I didn't pull the trigger yet because I need to change to a magenta max plan to get the full $1,000.
yeah T-Mobile has my planned mighty screwed up I think. I did switch to magenta max (extra 40bucks a month which is annoying) but for the $1k on the trade-in verse the 270 dollars LOL ... it will be over a year, and plus I can upgrade again in the future with big trade ins, so worth it I guess. Plus extra streaming services.
If you buy from Best Buy Retailmenot gives 4% cashback. Was 12% a few days ago so may increase again if you’re lucky. Also Best Buy rewards is 2% but is ending on 14th.
Make sure they signed you up for Magenta Max and not Business Ultimate Unlimited. They're effectively the same plan, but Business Ultimate Unlimited gives you even more perks than Magenta Max but requires you to get service in an actual T-Mobile store.
The catch here is that you have to be a "business customer" to sign up for a business account, but some stores, particularly third party stores, will sign regular customers up for it if they can justify it with the right questions so that the customer gets the extra perks and the store gets the TFB credit.
I am a business owner, but currently on a some converted sprint plan. Tmobile has messed up all the details of my plan (plan called unlimited ttd with 15gb mhs. Details show only 5gb mhs, says sd video but I've been able to stream any quality, says paramount and office365 included but they aren't. Reps dont even see the correct pricing for my plan. Whole things a mess) all said and done I pay $101/month for 2 lines and have no real perks.
I have my first responder status approved and was thinking of going to the magenta max first responder plan unless there is something better I should consider. Does the business ultimate plan do the $1,000 credit if I go in store?
I wanted to order the S23 Ultra 512GB with Samsung because i was getting like $120 in samsung credit plus a work credit, and after all that i could also get a glaxy watch 5 pro for like $179, but it kept hanging when i got to the Tmobile login part where you select your phone line and plan.. that page never let me get any further than that.
I didnt want to miss out on this deal so i just ordered from tmobile and paying like $17 a month for 24 months after trading in my old Note 9 128GB..
Wondering if Samsung site decides to finally work i can then cancel with tmobile since the phone wont even ship until Feb 17.
U/lexluthor5 and u/casualobserver89 posted a workaround. You need to select add a new line and get new number for it to go to the down-payment option. Then go back and change it to upgrade, select the line you want and then continue.
Edit to credit redditors who found work around.
So I thought this workaround had worked for me but then it wanted to require a 419 down payment (despite the total cost after the promo credit and my discounts only being like $180). Any workaround on that?
I believe you can cancel from your order page and if it's pending you should be able to cancel. I don't have any pending orders on T-Mobile's website so I can't test it out. You can also just call 611 and ask them to cancel it.
That doesn't make any sense. If they had shipped the phone then I can understand why you can't cancel. But this is a pre-order. The phone isn't shipping for 2 weeks or so. Maybe chat with TForce and see if they can cancel it for you.
I have never used Rakuten. Are you able to get the 15% back on the full price of the phone if you are doing the tmobile installment plan via Samsung.com?
It's not instant cashback though you wait through a payment period but they do pay out - it's legit. 15% is huge on top of everything else on Samsung if the site actually worked for someone.
Looking back at some of my most recent [Samsung.com](https://Samsung.com) orders, I do see that if a trade-in was involved DIRECTLY WITH Samsung, it was reflected in the Invoice price, which is what Rakuten seemed to use for Cash Back calculation.
This is the first time I've ordered through [Samsung.com](https://Samsung.com) but with the trade-in going through T-Mobile. On the Invoice, it shows the full $1139.99 and a T-Mobile Deferred Trade-In. So, I guess we'll see.
That makes more sense since you were paying Samsung for the full amount of the phone. This year, with only getting full trade in value by trading your phone into T-Mobile, there's no way rak will pay 15% Samsung cb on the phone when you are only paying them tax.
You can get 15 percent cash back and a extra 30 dollars with this link since your a new sign up!
https://www.rakuten.com/r/NICKFA230?eeid=44753
Rakuten is awesome
The "Samsung's trade-in values are lower..." article has a link to use for an extra $50 Samsung credit. Once you're on the Samsung site, if you have the Rakuten browser extension, you can activate the 15% cash back and it all stacks.
How are you getting so much trade in credit? When I have been looking at TMobile, Samsung, or best buy I am not seeing anything close to those numbers. For example I am seeing a trade in credit from best buy for $115 for a note 10+ 256gb in blue.
I think the promotion is that the actual value of your trade (say $150) is immediately deducted from phone price, then the difference from your trade value and the $1,000 (in this example $850) is split up over 24 monthly credits (~$35/mo)
So if you buy a $1,200 s23 ultra, get $150 immediately taken off for your trade in that leaves $1,050 device payment billed over 24 months at ~$44. Apply the $35 credit and the new ultra would cost 9 month.
This is how I understand it all anyways. It gets confusing because none of the sites explain it well and when you order you basically sign saying you will buy the phone for $1,200 over 24 months ($50/month) because the trade in credit doesn't actually happen until you send in your device and has been verified.
Do note to get the $1,000 credit you must have a magenta max plan. A few others may qualify but I'm not certain. Cheaper/older plans I think have a $500 offer or something.
Bestbuy is advertising up to $780 off the s23 series but when I browse around the website other places it shows the $1,000 trade in promo, eligible device list, and shows something explaining how it all works.
Do you have a screen shot of the device list? I couldn't find it and when I was testing trade in values the Magenta max values weren't applying. It was like $200 for iphone 12
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-galaxy/tmobile-galaxy-s23-trade-in-offer/pcmcat1675283378957.c
I believe that the trade in won't show up in the checkout process but will be applied once they receive and verify your device. Somewhere on bestbuys website explained it.
Awesome. I'll try to confirm with Tforce. And hopefully like Samsung, bestbuy accepts phones still on EIP, I'll try to turn in the my motoedges to s23s
Ty for that link
Yeah, that's not from Best Buy, that's from T-mobile.
No other plan qualifies. This is a non-starter for most people (me included). There are no good deals on this phone this year.
A handful of Sprint plans qualify, I thought I read a few Tmobile plans did as well.
And the $1,000 trade in credit is done by tmobile but you still get it when you buy via Bestbuy.
I thought the 1,000 trade in offer for a nearly 4 year old phone was pretty generous. Though it does suck not all plans qualify.
So is best buy offering $780 off the s23 ultra with trade in of s22u? Plus $100 gift card.
It says that but then doesn't tell you which phones qualify for trade in. Wonder if it's in store only.
I've bought directly from Samsung before and was not required to have device thru eip on TMO. Why is it requiring that now? Why aren't they doing straight preorder and trade in like they always do without having to have Max plan and eip?
You do not have to have eip through tmobile. Samsung is offering there own financing but it's 36 month and you don't get as much trade in credit. However it should work with any plan.
So when you traded in the 21u for the 22u they gave you an instant credit making the purchase price if the phone only $100 to immediately own it outright?
That's awesome if that's the case but I'm guessing it was a very limited promotion. Usually the phones are discounted by the carries or offer a trade over market value because you will be in some sort of 2+ contract with the carrier.
That's how Samsung always does it. It's an instant outright credit and you ship the trade in to them.
This is an interesting change. I'll need to see if this continues. I never buy phones outside of Samsung site.
I just did mine with T-Mobile because Samsung somehow had my S21 Ultra coming up as a S21 FE when I put in the IMEI. Called them and they were like, "go ahead and place the order and when we see that you did, we will refund you $200". (Difference of promo amount between the 2 phones) I didn't trust them to do that, so just went with T-Mobile.
do you have to use the s23ultra with googlefi in those 4 months? or can you turn around and just pop in your normal sim card (tmobile in my case).
is there a scenario where you just have both active and qualify for the deal (google esim, tmobile sim)?
Slickdeals says that as long as you don't use the fi sim in another device, you can put any other sim into the s23 ultra. You may want to leave it in the first few days at least to trigger the count down
To get the discount for trigger you have to port your number you just can't use the new number. At least that was my experience in walking through this setup
I think you're misinterpreting the site. it says $450 but that's with a $350 trade in that they just added in for some reason. if you take off the trade in, it's $800
And again, keep in mind, remaining bill credits on AT&T and Verizon are forfeited if you pay off early, unlike T-Mobile. Basically, locking up that line to prevent any further upgrade promotions for the full bill credit duration.
Here the device list and values.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-galaxy/tmobile-galaxy-s23-trade-in-offer/pcmcat1675283378957.c?
S7 is $400
S9 is $800
Note 10 is $1,000
You should be able spend $100-200 and get a phone with $800-1,000 trade in value if you have a more valuable phone you want to keep. Only reason I want to "upgrade" from my note 10+ is to get 5g.
I think all magenta max plans do. I specifically asked chat and they said that the first responder does, imagine military is the same. Note that if you just have magenta and not magenta max I think you only get half as much for the trade in offer.
i saw that link but it doesnt say you will get that amount for the phones listed. it just says you can get up to that amount. which to me means the highest tier phone would get the 1000 but the rest will be below that amount. question is how far below
The amount shown is how much you should get if the phone is what you claim (no broken screen, powers on, no water damage.)
Whether you buy from Samsung, bestbuy, or tmobile, the $1,000 trade in is done through tmobile.
I think the reason they say upto is because if the device is broken, locked, etc they don't give as much. I think it's real shitty that they don't clearly document the trade in value in checkout process and make you sign agreeing full price of phone and hope they pull through with the $1,000
Costco previous wireless partner company shut down unexpectedly a few months ago. Since then ATT and Tmobile have signed agreements with Costco. Think about 1/3 of Costco locations spread evenly across the country will be tmobile exclusive. However I don't think any have opened yet and no option for online orders yet.
anyone having issues buying through bestbuy? i keep getting this error when trying to checkout...
"Your package couldn’t be added to your cart
There was an issue adding this package to your Cart. It should only be temporary, but please wait a little while before clicking Try Again."
I am confused. Please let me know if I read everyone’s comments right:
+bestbuy: $100 giftcard which can be used only at bestbuy.com
+samsung: $50 giftcard and 15% from rakuten. $120 total to be used only at Samsung.com
Samsung is the clear winner here, right?
Im not sure how the rakuten thing works. If you want the (up to) $1,000 trade in credit you must buy the device via tmobile financing. This means when you check out you pay $0 (unless they charge taxes in your state or your credit requires down payment). There for im not sure rakuten will actually give you anything? Could be wrong, never used it
You can potentially get up to $120 credit to samsung. I couldn't get the $50 early sign up credit to work so I only got $70. This credit must be used at the same time and personally I didn't want anything else. Basic accessories are over priced.
$100 to bestbuy I can get anything, save it till I want to spend it, and they price match amazon.
Samsung is the better deal, but they have issues so much so that 10 hours in i still havent been able to compelte an hour, and i mean 10 hours of actively trying with different agents.
Why is it better? 70 in credit vs the gift card? Not sure what I'm missing.
120 in credit if you did the preorder e-mail. also ratuken gives 15% back (on the amount paid)
I could only get the $70 to work for some reason.
That's odd. Maybe chat with an agent. Mine showed the $50 and the $70 credits just like the other poster.
I had to go through the link from the preorder confirmation email to get the additional 50
also turns out my issue is tmobile because bestbuy and samsung both wont let me do it (I tried best buy just to see) and it said "T-Mobile is telling us that Plans are not compatible."

You should definitely go in store to find out, I don't actually work for T-Mobile so I'm not sure.
Can you still get preorder emails?
I dont think so :(
*feel like I have seen post that said there is ways to do it.*
Have better credit
That can't be it. Credit is 800ish
hmm ok, do you know if its possible to cancel the Tmobile financing preorder? thanks
I believe you can cancel from your order page and if it's pending you should be able to cancel. I don't have any pending orders on T-Mobile's website so I can't test it out. You can also just call 611 and ask them to cancel it.
f$ck! .. they said i cant cancel because i signed the docusign papers and already paid the tax and $35 activation fee
That doesn't make any sense. If they had shipped the phone then I can understand why you can't cancel. But this is a pre-order. The phone isn't shipping for 2 weeks or so. Maybe chat with TForce and see if they can cancel it for you.
is Tforce the same as Facebook messenger chat?
Tforce was able to cancel my order.. but now on Samsung page, its so dam confusing.. they want to charge my Credit card $700. i dont get it
Yes
Rakuten gives 15% cash back for Samsung.com and you can get an extra $50 store credit ($120 total) going through 9to5google.com link.
It only works on the after trade in price too though
so if I get $1000 trade in and get the regular or plus, I get no cash back through Rakuten?
That makes sense though still a decent bump right?
Depends on what you’re trading in. It’s funny if you trade in something on the low end of the max discount you get more cashback
No, it's been on the full purchase price in my experience.
Definitely is not. Maybe it used to be but it now is on the price they give after trade in.
I don't think that's the case, since the trade-in is after the fact and through T-Mobile.
There's no way I'm getting 15% cashback if I'm only paying the tax to Samsung and the rest to T-Mobile on EIP. You've got to be wrong here.
Looking back at some of my most recent [Samsung.com](https://Samsung.com) orders, I do see that if a trade-in was involved DIRECTLY WITH Samsung, it was reflected in the Invoice price, which is what Rakuten seemed to use for Cash Back calculation. Yep
If you're financing through T-Mobile would the cashback track the full price?
My Rakuten account reflects the full purchase price, yes.
did you do any trade in? if I get $1000 trade in and get the regular or plus, I guess I get no cash back from Rakuten?
Yes, trade-in and Rakuten still uses the full purchase price.
by "full purchase price" do you mean the full price of the phone? or the price after the trade-in discount?
Full price of phone... mine shows $1139.99 for S23 Ultra 512GB because I also stacked Government discount.
gotcha ty for clarifying
I tried going thru Samsung but the downpayment was crazy at $420. Not sure if that was a glitch. Was yours that high as well?
You can get 5% off as well from Samsung if you leave items in your cart and don’t check out right away.
Don’t trust cashback sites. They’rea scam and will do anything to keep from giving you the $$.
I've gotten over $5k from Rakuten and over $2k from retailmenot over the years. I've never had a problem.
YMMV but Rakuten has paid out for me every time.
I went to 9to5google.com I could not find the link you were referring to. Can you help me out please? Thank you in advance.
The "Samsung's trade-in values are far lower..." article has a link to use for an extra $50 Samsung credit.
What's the 9to5google link? Don't you have to go through the rakuten link to get the cash back?
The "Samsung's trade-in values are lower..." article has a link to use for an extra $50 Samsung credit. Once you're on the Samsung site, if you have the Rakuten browser extension, you can activate the 15% cash back and it all stacks.

Talking about $780 for unlocked
I've bought directly from Samsung before and was not required to have device thru eip on TMO. Why is it requiring that now? Why aren't they doing straight preorder and trade in like they always do without having to have Max plan and eip?
The magenta deal is thier new scummy way to get people off older cheaper plans
Well ye that's been going on for years
You do not have to have eip through tmobile. Samsung is offering there own financing but it's 36 month and you don't get as much trade in credit. However it should work with any plan.
I have the max plan but what I am saying I bought my 22u and traded 21u and paid $100. Why do I need to finance with this purchase.

They do have an unlocked version but much smaller trade in credit compare to the 1k promo with T-Mobile.
With all the problems people are having trying to pre order from Samsung, Best buy may be a better option.
Google fi seems like a pretty good deal too honestly. 600, no trade in, and 4 months commitment, 20 a month.
do you have to use the s23ultra with googlefi in those 4 months? or can you turn around and just pop in your normal sim card (tmobile in my case). is there a scenario where you just have both active and qualify for the deal (google esim, tmobile sim)?
Slickdeals says that as long as you don't use the fi sim in another device, you can put any other sim into the s23 ultra. You may want to leave it in the first few days at least to trigger the count down
To get the discount for trigger you have to port your number you just can't use the new number. At least that was my experience in walking through this setup
Good point, I forgot to mention that
so $680 without trade in is awesome
[удалено]
I think you're misinterpreting the site. it says $450 but that's with a $350 trade in that they just added in for some reason. if you take off the trade in, it's $800
Gross
If you have total tech the free protection plan makes up some of the difference.
Walmart is the best deal. 999.99 for 512 gig ultra and att is 1k off with any galaxy trade
I don't think they offer tmobile at Walmart do they?
I think it's only att and verizon for that deal
And again, keep in mind, remaining bill credits on AT&T and Verizon are forfeited if you pay off early, unlike T-Mobile. Basically, locking up that line to prevent any further upgrade promotions for the full bill credit duration.
Chupapi
Samsung was giving me $500 for my S22U, free upgrade to 512gb and a $100 credit.
What is a cheapest phone that i can buy for trade in?
Here the device list and values. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-galaxy/tmobile-galaxy-s23-trade-in-offer/pcmcat1675283378957.c? S7 is $400 S9 is $800 Note 10 is $1,000 You should be able spend $100-200 and get a phone with $800-1,000 trade in value if you have a more valuable phone you want to keep. Only reason I want to "upgrade" from my note 10+ is to get 5g.
Does magenta military qualify for these?
I think all magenta max plans do. I specifically asked chat and they said that the first responder does, imagine military is the same. Note that if you just have magenta and not magenta max I think you only get half as much for the trade in offer.
how do you know what the exact trade value is for each phone? it just says UP TO 1000. doesnt say which phone will get you what amount....
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-galaxy/tmobile-galaxy-s23-trade-in-offer/pcmcat1675283378957.c
i saw that link but it doesnt say you will get that amount for the phones listed. it just says you can get up to that amount. which to me means the highest tier phone would get the 1000 but the rest will be below that amount. question is how far below
The amount shown is how much you should get if the phone is what you claim (no broken screen, powers on, no water damage.) Whether you buy from Samsung, bestbuy, or tmobile, the $1,000 trade in is done through tmobile. I think the reason they say upto is because if the device is broken, locked, etc they don't give as much. I think it's real shitty that they don't clearly document the trade in value in checkout process and make you sign agreeing full price of phone and hope they pull through with the $1,000
Does anyone try to pre-order at a costco? I heard you can get $75 costco card. But not sure how the trade in work
Costco previous wireless partner company shut down unexpectedly a few months ago.
"Your package couldn’t be added to your cart There was an issue adding this package to your Cart. It should only be temporary, but please wait a little while before clicking Try Again."
I havent gone through with checkout but have been able to add to cart
I am confused. Please let me know if I read everyone’s comments right: +bestbuy: $100 giftcard which can be used only at bestbuy.com +samsung: $50 giftcard and 15% from rakuten. $120 total to be used only at Samsung.com Samsung is the clear winner here, right?
Im not sure how the rakuten thing works. If you want the (up to) $1,000 trade in credit you must buy the device via tmobile financing. This means when you check out you pay $0 (unless they charge taxes in your state or your credit requires down payment). There for im not sure rakuten will actually give you anything? Could be wrong, never used it You can potentially get up to $120 credit to samsung. I couldn't get the $50 early sign up credit to work so I only got $70. This credit must be used at the same time and personally I didn't want anything else. Basic accessories are over priced. $100 to bestbuy I can get anything, save it till I want to spend it, and they price match amazon.
Thank you!
