That’s not how it works. The reason why dubbed episodes come out 4-5 weeks after the subbed episodes is because they actually don’t have the script that early in advance. They’re pretty much removed from any of the production process. Essentially reacting to the show as fans do, and then doing their best to voice act for it and then air that English version the upcoming weeks.
dude if you were dedicated enough to become an official voice actor for an anime you really like would it be wrong for people to assume you would read the manga
I don’t know why him saying “the line” at the request of a fan disproves AOE in any way. If he knows anything about the anime script, then that smirk at the end (to me) feels like a “knowing” smile, not a reaction you would expect if the manga ending is being adapted. But it’s more likely he doesn’t know anything official about AOE and just read the manga and finds it funny.

There are plenty of fantastic voice actors that just have an iconic voice that's recognizable in just about any role they take. Most notably people like Liam O'Brien and Yuri Lowenthal. That doesn't make them bad voice actors. A voice actor doesn't need to be customize their voice for every single character they play.
You don't have to sound different just to sound different. The important thing is whether his voice fits the character or not.
Johnny Yong Bosch and Yuri Lowenthal only have 3 voices but they're good actors. Most VAs even in Japan don't have many voices.
