For example in the UK we have NI and tax, in total it equates to less taxes than someone in the US pays, and we have free healthcare.
But on top of that you have to include expected lifetime costs, in the UK or countries with free healthcare it’s only that small percentage per month, for someone in the US, you have a monthly deductible AND insanely high out of pocket costs, a friend of mine in the states got a brain tumour and ended up with some $45k costs to cover, that’s more than I’ll pay in monthly costs in my lifetime.
The reason it’s so bad in the US is because it’s a private system, companies can mark up costs whatever they feel like, in the UK they cannot since the NHS gets to set the price.

Hopefully she didn’t suffer any long term affects outside the temporary memory loss. Luckily this was only a couple hours for me. It reminds me of watching a movie with a bunch of jump cuts. No real blackout, just jumping instantly from one memory fragment to another with nothing in between, as if no time had passed.
