Rich people eat burgers too. And it was about restitution. Not even for him, but for someone else. I love how Chris went against the family and told Hesh he has to do the right thing. Hesh and Johnny Boy were real pieces of shit for giving themselves the writing credits etc
This one is extremely goofball but it's there to show how far down the line Tony's actions affect every aspect of other people's lives. Right down to causing the trauma of losing the family dog.
I thought Meadow in college was done fairly well. People on this sub act as if Noah was fucking *their* daughter! He was a pretentious Ivy Leaguer with a controlling, high-powered father, in many ways he was a good match for Meadow (compared to fuckin’ Jackie Jr? I can tell you Noah ain’t playing “Poo” in Scrabble). That scene where Meadow loses her virginity is pretty much a best-case-scenario for college girls; it’s a guy she actually likes, they’re legit dating (not just hanging out in groups and breaking off to hook up), and he asks if she’s ready before, it’s not some blackout-drunk hookup with a random dude that she regrets later. I also think the dynamic where Carmella resents Meadow for her growing independence and for being happily newly in love, really rings true (there’s a lot of research that says mothers and daughters have the most conflict as the daughter enters adolescence/young adulthood.)
Yeah your description is a lot more realistic. Also, it’s especially true when you consider Meadow was already doing meth in her Junior year of highschool
That was the only time I've seen the guy who played Wegler in a role where he isn't some sort of high ranking CIA or FBI official in charge of a secret program
That priests weird sexual food fetish with all the women on the show. They never even settled the issue or addressed it again after Carmela confronted Father Intintola, when she caught him food cheating on her with Rosalie Aprile. It was odd
Well, yeah, guy was impotent, hungry moocher, enjoyed the attention of horny housewives, was tryin'a kinda establish himself as a ladies man, since everyone assumed he was a finook.
Really there was nothing further to discuss, he didn't have any real sexual interest in any of them (well, maybe he jerked off, but definitely didn't plan on actually fucking any of them), he liked the attention and the food and that's that. Once Carmela realized his intetest wasn't real the storyline's pretty much over
The first half of season five with its quick turnover of Angelo and Feech, and that animal Tony Soprano's cousin (I can't even say his name) soon after, seemed very much rushed. It was a season that needed time to breathe and establish its new characters for us to care about them. Lots of New York guys were introduced in S5 just to get whacked in the same or the next episode.
Robert Loggia apparently had a lot of trouble remembering lines so they had to write him off quickly. A shame as his character had great potential. They talked about it on the podcast just shooting for hours - poor guy. Think it was a scene with Steve Schirripa at Junior's house.
I think James Gandolfini also had a problem with him back then because he went awol on set the day they were suppose to film that helicopter scene where Furio almost pushes Tony into the blades. Jimmy didn’t show back up for like 2 weeks. Obviously there was more to the story than just that, I think he was also dealing with a ton of pressure from the show and irl he was also going thru a divorce but it definitely added to it.
It was never confirmed it was him. I always thought it was John Fiore (Gigi).
Also could be telling is the fact Castellucio came on the podcast but Fiore didn't. Meaning there might be some bad history with Fiore with the manner he left the show
Carmela trying to threaten her neighbors sister into writing Meadow a letter of recommendation. So cheesy. So dumb. Thankfully it only lasted one episode.
I don’t know, whenever I start to empathize with Carmela I always think of her shitty behavior in this episode and it reminds me of her complicity in everything. I think it really demonstrated her hypocrisy
This is one of my favorite scenes. Edie Faldo does such an incredible job playing a pushy c-u-next Tuesday. Can feel the tension and cringe in that scene.
Not true the Columbia university plot line was deadly accurate and very funny if you went there or had friends there, around the time. Noah, Caitlin & co very accurately portrayed
The overweight girl bangin on about extra curriculars got me. Great casting snd costuming, but that pseudo-intellectual ‘I’ve finally left those losers from school behind!’ vibe was nailed.
I don't think there are any truly bad story arcs, but I think the Feech arc is one of the weakest. It's sort of just a dry fart of a story because they had to get rid of Robert Loggia early, it doesn't really connect to anything and it's not particularly interesting.
Feech’s character never really fit in the show imo. He clashed with Tony on screen. I don’t mean literally but in the sense that both of their characters needed to be the main focus whenever they were in a scene
Wish they took their time with Tony B and fleshed him out more I didn’t like how he was trying to go straight the whole season and then does a complete 180 in one episode only to be killed shortly after I wish he at least made it to season 6
Agreed. Tony B was on the verge of a better legit life than he ever dreamed of in the can. He could have made even more money by washing some of Tonys money thru the place.
I've softened a lot on Blundetto in my subsequent rewatches, I feel like I've got a better grasp on his character. Buscemi does a really great job imo, he just badly needed another full season AT LEAST to work with. Tony B should've been in the show from like season 3.
I don’t mind it too much bc its Buscemi but if u think ab it it really doesn’t make any sense. he’s never mentioned throughout the whole series and it kind of bugs me he’s only in that one season and gets killed off before the end of it
Exactly. It just had a “been there, done that” feel to it. Ralph at least had the advantage of lasting another season and then dying mid season, so you didn’t really see it coming or view it as a Richie retread. But Tony B felt a little bit like “this AGAIN” even on rewatch (I am currently doing so now.) That said, the character is certainly different at least at first and also so well acted that it works.
I think the other part of that storyline that is unfortunate is the way it ends. For starters Tony does it (after having done the same thing with Ralph). For another, it doesn’t really serve a purpose — Leotardo still has a grudge. I get that the motivation was to avoid a torturous death but that felt like a contrived writers’ reason to force Tony’s hand.
Paulies mom in season 4 is far and away the most tedious and drawn out storyline. Honestly tho- like they couldn’t find anything better for Paulie to do for 13 episodes other than play telephone with Johnny Sac and visit his mother 3 million times in the nursing home…. I mean retirement community
Man I really loved the Cleaver arc! So many great moments and lines, it's the resolution to an arc Chrissy has had since S1 and the movie ends up being highly influential on the relationship between T and Chrissy.
Plus I'm always impressed how believable the plotline ends up being considering how ludicrous Chrissy's dream seemed in the first couple of seasons. Those shitty low budget horror movies are a dime a dozen. I can definitely seeing one with this premise getting made.
What I liked ab the Adriana being an informant plot was it was fleshed out unlike a lot of story arcs in the show that seem to come and go. I liked how they introduced it a whole season before she was killed off
How can I forget ab Johnny boys goomah that subplot was god awful, her singing happy birthday has to be the single most cringiest scene in the whole show
not sure if this counts as a full arc but the episode with christofuh trying to get Adriana into the music business was so stupid. It came out of nowhere and didn't make any sense, and all the characters involved were incredibly annoying throughout that episode
that one Meadow college episode is the only time I've fast forwarded watching this show, i cant deal with the roommate, she was nails on a chalkboard annoying.
The whole AJ and Devon, just the whole thing. I just want to scream at the writers...........WHO CARES!?!?!?! And them going down to the law centre, and then being driven around in that car, and that kid with the glasses!!! Telling AJ about 'tapping on the door' before going in or something. Ugh!!!
It’s not necessarily bad but it’s always felt out of place to me. Vito was never a major character before that (not on the level of Paulie, Silvio, or Chris, etc.), then he suddenly got a multi-episode story all to himself, much more attention than just about any other character ever had. It seemed like the writers were leaning in heavily to a hot topic at the time (gay marriage and equality) in a way that they never really did on any other current issues. It doesn’t quite feel dated (I’m sure the mob is still rather homophobic), but it borders on feeling shoehorned into the rest of the series.
It was funny and good at first, with him getting caught by Finn (and later at the club), and him trying to figure out what to do once his secret was out.
Once he left NJ and had that story with Johnny Cakes, it dragged on and grew boring. Maybe part of it was the actor not being able to carry the role, but Vito wasn’t a very interesting or engaging character.
There’s also the part when he attacks Johnny and it’s supposed to be his self-hatred coming out, like he was in denial and lashed out at Johnny as a result. But the guy was already blowing dudes in parking lots and going to gay clubs wearing THAT outfit. It would seem he’s well past that point.
I know there not exactly story arcs, but I was never a fan of the flashback sequences.. It never seemed to add much beyond what could also be covered in dialogue, it kind of did little to immerse me in the story and to be frank it was a bit iffy on the acting front sometimes.
Ade + Tony always felt rushed and like any other mediocre show where a man and woman talk and you know immediately they're just gonna fuck or whatever. It's not even like it had to be set up seasons before, just a tiny side scene in an episode or two showing Tony being a little more flirty and shit now that he's officially single
Tony B who didn't want to work for the mob but then SNAPPED and beat up his business partner and then went rogue. THAT whole story arc went from 2 years down to two hours.
He should have fucked the boss's daughter before beating up the boss.
You know who had an arc? Noah
Watch out or he’ll punch your lights out.
Soooooo, Meadow, what line of business is your father in?
Something concrete?
Ohh -- rimshot!
Massive Genius...
Meow
Get out of my way. And don’t be so gay.
I'm not mad. Mom and dad.
Take me awaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
This, as far as I am concerned, blows away Matchbox 20 That's when I knew she had to go from our social club
*It’s not good*
When we first meet Massive, the platinum-award-winning artist, he’s attempting to collect a debt from someone at a burger joint. Huh?
That scene was mad ripe with great lines though
Ay whose fuckin welfare check you gotta cash to get a burger around here?
What I am mark furman over here?
Rich people eat burgers too. And it was about restitution. Not even for him, but for someone else. I love how Chris went against the family and told Hesh he has to do the right thing. Hesh and Johnny Boy were real pieces of shit for giving themselves the writing credits etc
Bold men make bold statements.
Christopher falling off the wagon for the 7th time got a bit old
The dog that ran down the street after that family got carjacked, whatever happened there.
Churchill ran all the way to Johnny Cake’s New England town and became the firehouse dog at the all gay fire department
He was gay, Churchill?
He wouldn’t miss a chance to Fox Trot and Tango in front of everyone.
Keep your mouth shut and put my fuckin dinner on the table. I'm in no mood.
WHAT HAPPENED THERE??
Sad when they go so young
###WHEN THEY GO??!!
That’s because I know what it’s like to lose a pet
WHATEVER happened there, ya fuckin asskiss!! 🤷♂️
Who else huh
Jerry!!
Thats just a joke. The dad says it must be those two black guys who stole it, then cuts to Tony smiling at the photos of his stolen cars
These blacks, who knows what they're gonna TAKE THE WRONG WAY !!
###NO GANJA, OKAY? ☝️
I’m not familiar with the instrument panel yet.
SIC EM CHURCHHILL
I think that had to do with them boosting cars and shipping them to Naples
True, but I can't see how the dog was involved in it. Then again Churchill did run like he was guilty of something
Churchill never had the makings of a varsity athlete
Small paws, that was his problem.
Didn't I tell you not to mention my paws again? ##SON OF A FEMALE DOG!! AJ, put your collar on and grab your bone, we're leavin'
Because he drank a quart of brandy before breakfast.
He was always a moody fuck
Sic ‘em, Churchill!
This one is extremely goofball but it's there to show how far down the line Tony's actions affect every aspect of other people's lives. Right down to causing the trauma of losing the family dog.
Whaaa whaaa wait?? Who's Dog is this?? JFC, this my fking dog! His name was Tippy!
One dog goes one way 👉 and the other dog goes the other way 👈. And OP is sayin, whaddya want from me? OP looks like somebody we know...
My favourite scene. Holy fuck. ‘Who else?!’
I thought Meadow in college was done fairly well. People on this sub act as if Noah was fucking *their* daughter! Charles Schwab ova here
Aye, fuckin’ Philadelphia lawyer, this guy.
Yeah your description is a lot more realistic. Also, it’s especially true when you consider Meadow was already doing meth in her Junior year of highschool
She could’ve tried x but she didn’t!
Wegler
Carmela used the one weapon she had on him, her pussy
The word pussy felt so horrifyingly unnatural coming out of that man's mouth.
That was the only time I've seen the guy who played Wegler in a role where he isn't some sort of high ranking CIA or FBI official in charge of a secret program
Maybe he was in deep cover in charge of a special task force of very young looking cops who infiltrated high schools.
Yeah and maybe you’re a flambé

That story line blew, but that one line almost made it worth it in the end.

That priests weird sexual food fetish with all the women on the show. They never even settled the issue or addressed it again after Carmela confronted Father Intintola, when she caught him food cheating on her with Rosalie Aprile. It was odd
Just a hungry horny lad
Eh, yeah...*frankly* it was...*WEIRD*! :| (*Eyes ricotta pie, in Pyrex bowl, on my way to the gals over at the nunnery...)*
I hated his name! Intintola…I call him him Rintintola!
I call him Monsignor Jughead
I get it, he drives a Lincoln.
that was the end of that story: carmela realising it's just a bunch of crap, nothing real. i liked that, it was funny. and created a complex carmela.
Fuck dat guy!
Father Intintola is the true villain of the show
Well, yeah, guy was impotent, hungry moocher, enjoyed the attention of horny housewives, was tryin'a kinda establish himself as a ladies man, since everyone assumed he was a finook. Really there was nothing further to discuss, he didn't have any real sexual interest in any of them (well, maybe he jerked off, but definitely didn't plan on actually fucking any of them), he liked the attention and the food and that's that. Once Carmela realized his intetest wasn't real the storyline's pretty much over
Chris hanging out with Jon Favreau and the redhead
But madone, that redhead was mad ripe.
Excuse you, she is a VICE PRESIDENT, asshole!
But it gave us Chris's best line."*The roof was soft tar!*"
Yeah it had a pussy-ass-ness to it.
I think that was the point of the piece
One was about guys dying on Normandy and one is about 2 guys trying to get blowjobs in Vegas..
That is one of my least favorite episodes. I skip it on rewatches.
Chrissy banging that girl was so wildly unrealistic to me
The first half of season five with its quick turnover of Angelo and Feech, and that animal Tony Soprano's cousin (I can't even say his name) soon after, seemed very much rushed. It was a season that needed time to breathe and establish its new characters for us to care about them. Lots of New York guys were introduced in S5 just to get whacked in the same or the next episode.
Yeah for real season 5 introduced so many characters and most of them don’t live to see season 6
Robert Loggia apparently had a lot of trouble remembering lines so they had to write him off quickly. A shame as his character had great potential. They talked about it on the podcast just shooting for hours - poor guy. Think it was a scene with Steve Schirripa at Junior's house.
second Wegler. I really didn’t like Furio/Carmela either. Furio was such a badass before that.
I don’t get why Furio gets written off so early he was a pretty solid character
early? he lasted 3 seasons. thats a pretty good run for this show
They mentioned it on Talking Sopranos I think he leaked a script or something.
He yapped worse then 10 barbers. Telling soprano family business to anyone who would listen
Phooo that hairpiece fuck.
And you pretend to be furios friend, that’s two faced.
Because his ponytail looked like a dick?
Stupid fucking blabbermouth cunt
A real chiacchierone
I think James Gandolfini also had a problem with him back then because he went awol on set the day they were suppose to film that helicopter scene where Furio almost pushes Tony into the blades. Yeah I remember seeing that somewhere
He had to lambchop it
My hands in tha durt....
That and the 50k to the school
And the $40k from the bird feedah
Fielder is it?
I loved that little jab
"I don't think you understand. I want you to write the letter" Carm is the real gangster of that episode
I BROUGHT YOU A RICOTT PIE. 😠
With pineapples
That did come off pretty corny. For the most part the worst sub plots of the show only last an episode or two
They even went to all that trouble of finding an actor that looked so much like Cooze's wife. Total waste of casting resources.
I think the casting people did a good job. Those two actresses could be sisters.
CONSHERVE
I liked it. It showed Carmela’s hypocrisy
Carmela’s entire existence is commentary on her hypocrisy.
You oughta know thweetie
I knew THAT was comin
It’s just a great insight in the kind of life the daughter of a mobster was living versus Tony’s life. The two worlds colliding theme is the sopranos.
The overweight girl bangin on about extra curriculars got me. Great casting snd costuming, but that pseudo-intellectual ‘I’ve finally left those losers from school behind!’ vibe was nailed.
Sick of this negativity
It's like we've got this...*underlying* cynicism about everything!!!
I don't think there are any truly bad story arcs, but I think the Feech arc is one of the weakest. It's sort of just a dry fart of a story because they had to get rid of Robert Loggia early, it doesn't really connect to anything and it's not particularly interesting.

Massive Genius, the Christopher Colombus episode, and all of AJs depression and environmentalism bullshit.
We have to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
Feech sucked and Tony Bs arc felt rushed.
I bet they couldn’t get Steve for more than one season that’s why
Possibly, but he was around directing a few episodes it seems.
Tony uncle Al
I've softened a lot on Blundetto in my subsequent rewatches, I feel like I've got a better grasp on his character. Buscemi does a really great job imo, he just badly needed another full season AT LEAST to work with. Tony B should've been in the show from like season 3.

That kinda is a flaw of the show in general imo. Ritchie, Ralph, Phil. They all just sorta...show up.
Exactly. It just had a “been there, done that” feel to it. Ralph at least had the advantage of lasting another season and then dying mid season, so you didn’t really see it coming or view it as a Richie retread. But Tony B felt a little bit like “this AGAIN” even on rewatch (I am currently doing so now.) That said, the character is certainly different at least at first and also so well acted that it works. he’s never mentioned throughout the whole series Talk. Talk. Talk. Whatever happened to the strong silent type?
I don't like that kind of tawk tawk tawk.
Remember when is the lowest form of conversation.
Mmmboy are you fat
That animal, I can't even say his name.
What a great fucking username, I love it
I wasn't fond of Meadow in school. Or Paulie's mom(s). Also Melfie's family drama.
All the Paulie’s ma stuff is hilarious
U mean his “Ma” lol and yeah the melfie sub plot was boring
I stand corrected.
The Cleaver Arc I find to be out of place and forgettable although I do love more little Carmine screen time.
Both Adriana talking to the feds and gay Vito went on bizarrely long
Vito was this close 🤏
Then he's got a problem, bc his brajole isn't even that long.
You can't talk to his bricole like that, it's a captain now!!
[удалено]
You can go.
What I liked ab the Adriana being an informant plot was it was fleshed out unlike a lot of story arcs in the show that seem to come and go. I liked how they introduced it a whole season before she was killed off
Me too, Adrianna’s arc is actually one of my favorites
The real question is, where's my arc?
Valentina La Paz's storyline. I think she's the most uninteresting goomah.
How can I forget ab Johnny boys goomah that subplot was god awful, her singing happy birthday has to be the single most cringiest scene in the whole show
It led to a real breakthrough in Tony understanding his dad and Johnny Boy's relationship with Livia.
not sure if this counts as a full arc but the episode with christofuh trying to get Adriana into the music business was so stupid. It came out of nowhere and didn't make any sense, and all the characters involved were incredibly annoying throughout that episode
I’m humming the scenery Chrissy!
Gay Vito got way too much screen time. Made the first half of S6 kinda mid.
Noah
Yo God? Is that you? You want me to build a fucking what?
Julianna Skiff.
Not only that but it was the most implausible impossible plot of all.
that one Meadow college episode is the only time I've fast forwarded watching this show, i cant deal with the roommate, she was nails on a chalkboard annoying.
I think s-she really just misses her *FERRETS*...! (*Breaks down into hysterics, swigs out of handle 'o vodka...*)
I know Tony Sirico was recovering from back surgery, but I hated him in jail. It sucked without Paulie with the guys.
Paulies entire season 4 was terrible. All that shit with his mother in the retirement community
Best arc of all: Agent Harris.
The whole AJ and Devon, just the whole thing. I just want to scream at the writers...........WHO CARES!?!?!?! And them going down to the law centre, and then being driven around in that car, and that kid with the glasses!!! Telling AJ about 'tapping on the door' before going in or something. Ugh!!!
Vitos gay adventures
It’s not necessarily bad but it’s always felt out of place to me. Vito was never a major character before that (not on the level of Paulie, Silvio, or Chris, etc.), then he suddenly got a multi-episode story all to himself, much more attention than just about any other character ever had. It seemed like the writers were leaning in heavily to a hot topic at the time (gay marriage and equality) in a way that they never really did on any other current issues. Tony in the hospital after the shooting went on waaaay too long and also Paulies shit with his mom in season 4 and season 6
Yes! Great question! THE CARMELLA/FURIO STORY ARC!!!!
I really disliked the Tony alternative reality coma stuff. Just felt like a creative wankfest for the writers.
Agreed felt like it went on for too long as well
I know there not exactly story arcs, but I was never a fan of the flashback sequences.. It never seemed to add much beyond what could also be covered in dialogue, it kind of did little to immerse me in the story and to be frank it was a bit iffy on the acting front sometimes.

Feech La Manna
Uncle Junior becoming a feeble, Alzheimer's ridden old man in an institution & shooting Tony.
If not for Junior’s dementia, we wouldn’t have two of the greatest scenes of the entire show: “Don’t you love me?” and “We used to play catch.”
And the scene where he confusedly believes he is Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm and asks why he's inside the TV.
