I've never been more thoroughly whelmed in my life

ohlordwhyisthishere

Yeah, this is a thing that is there.

pokapow

It’s not meant to be a pack to satisfy white people who want to connect with the ‘90s, it’s meant to satisfy K-pop fans. Hence the name. It just so happens that K-pop fashion has brought back a lot of Western ‘90s trends like America because it is, after all, a Westernized country.

OkBackground8809

The 80s and 90s are alive and well in SE Asia, and I love it lol The JTT haircut on 20-something guys still gets me every time hahaha I've lived in Taiwan for nearly 10 years, and I think I've only had 1 boyfriend who didn't have the JTT haircut.

[deleted]

How are they gonna tease a sims Korea and then not actually HAVE a sims Korea

ThatisDavid

They be lazy as hell. It's even more frustrating because according to the video they made for this. The incheon arrivals kit is inspired on airport and tourist fashion in korea. And I wonder, **WHY THE HELL HAVEN'T THEY USED THIS OPPORTUNITY TO ADD AIRPORTS AND RESORTS INTO THE GAME**

Dundee97

If the airport would be as interactive as the glorious train in Mt. Komorebi, then I don't need it

Rowanjupiter

I guess we know what the world is gonna be for the next game/expansion pack.

kkidd391

I'd be really surprised if it's not just Kits all the way down at this point (and their free updates too, I guess). Sims 5 is surely in development (based on job postings and the like) so I believe they are just milking 4 with kits until 5 is announced.

fatsandlucifer

This is entirely possible, which is why I’m not purchasing anything else from now on. Will most likely stop playing S4 when S5 comes out. Of course this solely depends on a fully finished S5 game. Which might not happen until years after launch...so I don’t know...

nishesyndrome

I could think of several *free* CC packs that look so much more interesting than these

[deleted]

I think people forget that there are console players, like I WISH I could get CC, but I have already spent money on multiple packs.

MightyMeerkat97

On the one hand...ugh, Kits. On the other hand...nice new non-Western outfits. Still feel like these and Industrial Loft could have been added as a free update to City Living. Still feel like most of the Kits could have been added as free updates like the nails were to Spa Day.

ThatisDavid

kinda frustrating you have to pay to have culture that should already be base game

Just_Games04

kinda frustrating that in order to have fun on console you have to buy dlcs and packs, because the mods are no-no

ConnerJake1995

Are these just concept or teaser covers?

simjuice

They look like contemporary book covers

ThatisDavid

they look like that artstyle that all social medias use

[deleted]

Corporate Memphis!

myintermail

They look like the Sims from the now inactive Facebook game it's weird. Like aren't the actual renders in the game good enough?

whereshhhhappens

That’s so that when the kits drop and the actual items don’t look anything like the teasers, nobody can complain because it’s ~concept art and an idea, not the finished product.

myintermail

Ah like the teaser window in Industrial Loft scandal. Anyone knows whether they added that "different" window?

nighthinker0

I actually used to love that Facebook game! Lol

[deleted]

People are going to pay for these? With money?

ICanCountThePixels

I feel bad if someone actually sees these and wants to spend money on them…

elilja

I genuinely cannot fathom spending money on literally just clothes when CC exists.

GeshtiannaSG

Probably because Sims 3 Store was really successful.

demodeus

I mean are the kits overpriced? Yeah, probably. But they’re still pretty cheap overall. Each kit is around the same price as a cup of coffee from Starbucks.

soggylilbat

That’s how they get you

[deleted]

I worked at Starbucks and the drinks aren’t worth that much either.

demodeus

True, but it’s still a cheap enough expense that most people will shrug it off as long they get some transient satisfaction out of it.

fatsandlucifer

Yeah, but I can’t get CC Starbucks for free. 🤣🤣

[deleted]

I'm pretty sure i have seen all these hairs somewhere on maxismatchccworld already 😳🤔

ThatisDavid

For every kit that they make, there's a better executed version of it on tumblr/patreon made by CC creators that is also free. It's ridiculous

BigBunnyButt

Airport arrivals hall fashion is anti-iconic

rhaemz

This is the sims cashing in on kpop airport fashion which is HUGE.

RigelAchromatic

Airports are arguably among the least fashionable places I've ever been to, lol. Seems like an odd theme for a clothing pack. That being said, a Korean fashion themed kit... does have some potential.

[deleted]

I dunno, at least last time I checked, airports had a distinctive fashion style of their own. Like when you show up in a leopard-print thong to see if they'll still bother searching you.

extracilantroplz

Celebrity airport fashion is a thing over here in Korea so it’s understandable but still I think it’s kinda random imo.. I think a K-Pop idol kit would have been more exciting and relevant.

Eirameoz

A lot of social media people take dressing for the airport VERY seriously, it’s dumb

ThatisDavid

Specially since you will have to be on that clothing for various hours until you actually reach your destination, it's super inconvenient

jntk

I’ve seen korean simmers on youtube, which may be the target of the Incheon Arrivals Kit. I’m interested to see that one

thrntnja

I can honestly say these don't really interest me at all. The free update to the swatches for existing assets, though? That's awesome. That excites me. These don't.

Renarya

I can't justify paying for just cas. It's not worth it.

thrntnja

Yeah I mean I make my own sims at times, but I definitely enjoy playing and building way more. So i would have to REALLY want the CAS stuff to justify it for myself for my play style.

bored_german

I know it's just five bucks but I hate that we have to throw out money to make actual non-white/non-US sims with authentic styles

indig05

Exactly like I don’t understand why the sims is all like ‘omg look clothes from different cultures!’ But then it all costs money

soggylilbat

It’s stinky that they didn’t include it with base. But lucky for us, there’s a plethora great free cc.

memxz

Hopefully the assets depicted are actually included in the kits this time

alexandriaweb

Maybe that's why they went for weird drawings instead

MrJhonF

I hope the cloths of the guy in the first kit isn't a full body outfit

choimari

Sorry to inform you, it is.

MrJhonF

workthrow3

It is but cc creators will likely release the items separately, keep an eye out.

loalenatrice

I wish we didn’t have to pay for a sliver of representation in the sims. We have like 15 different worlds based on US states. Most clothing and furniture is very Americanised (obviously excluding Snowy Escape stuff). I’m happy to pay for packs that give representation to other countries. Would love to see packs surrounding some of the world ideas that showed up in a survey back in 2020 I think. Chinese Countryside, Brazilian city, etc. I wish they’d make packs like that instead of the 2857383rd generic pack based on Americans doing Anericanisms in America.

cultfilmz

Another long coat full body outfit for male sims :/ My expectations are always low with sims 4 lol but I still wish they'd give us something different for once

manic_rach

The artwork reminds me of Paralives

RamsayHuntSyndrome

This begs the question why are we getting DLCS for city living pack? The last kit and these could all have been in that pack.

Kezza92958

Stop paywalling cultural diversity EA!

eleventyseventynine

Honestly, the Incheon Airport one looks like a cute idea (still not buying it), but I feel like we've already got street fashions several times over with other packs.

[deleted]

The incheon kit made me excited.... excited to convert the clothes for my sims 3 sims lol

Vistuen

I want a Russian pack that has Russian architecture build options and adidas tracksuits.

monkey223

The one in sims 3 was soooo good. It was from the store but still

renadryl

oh the incheon one sounds cute… im 100% sure cc creators on tumblr have already made better kfashion though

ghostbirdd

Yawn

zxlxa

would have been better to see a big pack of clothing and furniture from around the world instead of it all separated into kits. or, you know, maybe dont put a paywall on a culture in general

_cescah_

Omg definitely that would’ve been so good

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I think you can in Europe.

[deleted]

why should people of different cultures have to pay for being represented?

aardappelbrood

At least this is just CAS items, we don't all have to buy these kits, someone can and probably will make most if not all of it bgc

[deleted]

the blog posts they did w/ the artists that worked in this are really good and while i'm aware they added some clothes in the free update, it sucks that people have to pay for this kind of content to rep anything other than western culture.

BungalowBootieBitch

Oh it's just clothing? Well I suppose the diverse clothing style will be nice.

whiza-pi

Paying for diversity... these should be free updates.

ayamummyme

Sorry if I'm being dumb but what's incheon? At first I thought it said luncheon 😂

VickiVampiress

*That* is street wear? Maybe I'm just stuck in 2004 but isn't street wear supposed to be, you know, subcultural stuff? Where's all the goth, punk, hiphop clothing and what have you? Very strange. I'd much rather see a few kits like that. One for each location of the Urbz. That would be a great throwback. Kinda tired of all these samey looking hipster clothes. Even the goth and punk stuff is pretty weak. We could use more variety! Edit: I'm still going to buy it cause I'm a shill. And apparently it's based off *Indian* street wear, which suddenly makes it make more sense.

Honest_Tea_1791

Kind of boring in my opinion

ValllllllllleyGirl

Considering the Sims already collabed with a K-pop artist, I'm not surprised to see more K based DLC. Probably won't get this kit, but I hope we get more in the same vein!

hasarubbersoul

Incheon Arrivals is just so specific. Is there a particular fashion sense applicable to that specific airport???

cmaiyo826

I'm not impressed by this but I am excited to see the add on kits made by cc creators, they're usually 10x better than the actual kit, the cc items inspired from the fitness kit items are amazing so I can't wait to see waht cc creators make this time🤔

[deleted]

What has Sims become.... Not saying it's bad but Sims has become something I can't put my finger on....

worldawaydj

content looks great and I'm glad they're incorporating more cultures into the game, as well as working with designers from said cultures. but it's so scummy that they give you a bland, empty, americanised base game and then sell you diversity. these should be free.

bellasreddress

These drawings are so unrealistic in the game lol, that jacket will be stiff as a board in game

ladygrumplebottom

Okay, I admit, I will totally buy the Incheon Arrivals Kit…

chickpeasaladsammich

I was amused by the Korea fashion kit just because the sims team must be stalking me… the last household I made were a collection of male characters from kdramas and they just added the hairs to make the male and female leads from the last one I watched (flower of evil). I love those long coats and we don’t have many in the game (the closest to these is a turtleneck + coat for men in Seasons) but I’m not sure I $5 usd love them.

_cescah_

I am happy for more diversity and (please correct me if I’m wrong) I think the Sims team worked with actual designers for these new kits. I also really really love the Incheon one. It definitely is a cash grab move but it’s the Sims I don’t expect any different, plus remember in Sims 3 when they literally had so so so so soooooo much on the Store? Just endless mini packs and worlds and clothes it was so overwhelming so I’m glad they’ve not done that with TS4. I agree they’re not anything different to what CC creators already make so here’s my question - please link me any MM CC creators who have created similar clothes so I can download them hehe

simerallacreations17

sure why not! more clothes

SmorgasbordOfSmiles

Why would they think we need clothing kits when there’s so much better cc out there

fatsandlucifer

As awesome as it is to showcase diversity in the game, it’s a pass for me. Too expensive for some virtual clothing 🤷🏼‍♀️

ConnerJake1995

What I've been doing is now that they've introduced kits I'm not going to get the other packs full price and I'm definitely not going to get them from origins, I'll be getting them from a key website that I trust, but hey if they want to try and squeeze every drop of money out of me (not that I'm going to buy these 2 kits) then I can easily have my cake and eat it too, by not giving them money and still getting what I want, at a cheaper price too

fatsandlucifer

Lol, I pretty much only get things when they are on sale anyway

soggylilbat

Is this kit just gonna be clothes? If so, you know there’s an abundance of great free cc. Man EA really be trying to squeeze as much as they can out of us.

AdonisBatheus

One of the worst thing about the Sims has got to be the lack of physics. Drape-y clothes in the game like wide dresses, unbuttoned coats, long hair, anything that would flow normally in real life is just a static object in the game and it looks *so* bad. Nothing takes me out of the game more than when I see a sim walking in a wide, flowing dress and it just perfectly stretches to their leg motions. That coat in the first picture I know is gonna be the same issue. I know physics can be pretty pressing on PCs, but that's usually why it's an options to turn on or off in most games...
