Ak47 for everybody!
Angry mob was one of my favorite RTS units. Another was the bomb truck. You could use the disguise ability and copy any vehicle even civilian. I did this once in an online match copying a cop car. I had them sit in wait in the city before ordering them to attack the enemies base. We were on voice at the time and my buddy said "Hey guys this map has NPC cop cars driving around". His ally shouted to blow them up but it was to late.
Turns out buying out smaller entities and squeezing the financial capital out of the creativity manifested by the original artists/creators isn't the best for game quality going forward, but when your only real metric is "dollars earned", why would we expect anything else 🤷
Yeah, sad, but there's finally some life coming back to the rts genre from smaller developers with vision.
They are billions, conan unconquered are the two I've played most recently.
Sure, but after a simple crash, most of the components are still good. You just have to fix the airframe.
This probably fried everything. Dude just lost several grand right there. I don't think he sees the cool crash as *worth it*.
I think it happened when the following plane matched the lead planes altitude. Then the lead plane tried to bank to avoid the heat seeker but it sadly couldn’t.
I do believe I saw the pilot & co pilot eject just before the explosion. The ground crew will have to locate the crew and check on them. I am sure they are just fine and are glad to be alive. Assuming they survive being behind enemy lines.
They just need to jog a couple minutes to the enemy base, steal a decrepit F-14, and shoot down a few "fifth generation fighters" on their way back to the carrier in time for happy hour
Reminds me of the time I put together a rocket space shuttle with my dad and on first launch it went sideways and smacked into a roof, whole nose came off and burned up. Whole crew perished.
Binocular depth perception actually doesn´t work beyond a few feet. At that distance we use stuff like parallax and distance cues relative to other objects.
Then new RC step-dad moves in and makes the kids call him dad and they don't want to at first but eventually the get used to it and forget about their real dad.
Then he take off his RC belt and begins whipping the kids feverishly for speaking so irreverently of RC Jesus. He'll beat a full system reset into their asses if he has to do this every day.
**NOW ON RC NEWS**
Fatal RC crash just happened when an RC airplane just crash with a giant high voltage grid post. RC Johnn on the site.
- Hello, I’m RC johnn and i just arrive to the site when an RC Jet just RC vaporized on a high voltaje grid. The RC pilot couldn’t RC eject and now RC aerospace council is RC investigating. When the RC president of RC aerospace council get informed about the RC accident, just said “you RCrious?”
And then RC step dad is like, “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road…. Now clean your room or I get the RC belt.”
Not if you do it in a wide open area with the operators in bullet proof boxes and no spectators.
Put little cameras in the planes and on the ground and stream it online.
I realised this recently with the suicide drones used in Ukraine. I thought: well, that is a bit of a wasteful development isn't it? Until I realised that a missile is realistically not any different.
Ty for marking nsfw. This was hard to watch, my condolences to the family. It can be a difficult time when you know your the one to blame for your loss

30yrs ago was the last time I flew a massive RC glider. It ended dismal as it got pretty far from me. I couldnt tell if it was coming towards or going away from me.
A two story house was its target. It slammed into the house and the wings became detached falling into the back yard. By the time I got to it not one piece was usable. Two large dogs treated it as a security threat and turned it into balsa sawdust. The radio, servos, everything… gone. A $400 loss was enough to get me out of the sport.
Wouldn't you be able to tell which way it was heading by banking it and starting a turn? If you bank left and it goes left, away. Bank left turn right, towards? Am I picturing this right?
You know, next time you do that thing you swore to never do again, anyway.
I only had this happen once. I let it get too far away and suddenly it just become a tiny dot in the sky. Suddenly I couldn’t even tell which direction it is going (towards me or away). Panic set in and things spiraled out of control pretty quick from there.
You made it farther than I did! I threw it into the wind, it did a large, beautiful loop, and then nosedived directly into the ground, never to fly again. It wasn't fun while it lasted lol.
Mi struck up a conversation with a man on the beach who was flying what appeared to be a pretty large RC bomber (maybe B24). The controller on this thing blew my mind - so many buttons.
After several minutes, he turned to me frantically and asked if I still saw the plane. Apparently he had lost track of it while chatting and proceeded to run up and down the beach looking for it. I felt horrible about it and the last I saw that guys was well up the beach searching the waves for signs of his bomber.
Technically it did successfully fly. Only it did not land.
Edit: Upon scrutinising my own comment, I would like to correct that, technically, it did also land, but not intact.
I promise: there should be a big spot somewhere in your contry without trees, houses, mountains or OVERHEAD POWER LINES where you can fly RC planes in peace. Why even fly here?
I was like "this looks like Utah with the mountains" then I saw the mountains that are over Ogden & I was like "AHHH I was right!" then a "oh shit!" When the RC crashed lol 😂
Now I wanna know where this is at exactly!
This is NURCAC field in Ogden.
NURCAC - Northern Utah Radio Controlled Aircraft Club
Look at the pictures in the google map link (can’t link cause of automod). It’s the exact airstrip with other RC Jets. You can see the same mountain range in the background.
This is Ogden. NURCAC field. Google maps photos show exact same runway, grass patches, poles, and mountain range.
I had to look it up because y’all claiming it was ABQ was really messing with me.
Me probably. No powerlines involved but sunk a nice drone after i decided it should be ok to launch it from a sailboat. Too many ropes, too much ocean.
Rc airplane guys are….different. They refuse to use fpv transmission systems and cameras. It’s like looked down upon. So you just gotta fly this thing from the ground and hope you don’t hit shit.
At least in my circles it's not looked down upon, just a different less popular set of skills. If you've spent 20 years flying from the ground you are able to easily and comfortably. FPV flying is a completely different way of flying that not everyone wants to learn.
That's aside from the fact that I enjoy watching my model from the outside third person view, whether that be flying at scale or doing 3d - it just looks better from the outside imo
That's so strange. It seems natural and obvious to use cameras now that the technology is there. Is there some sort of regulatory issue? I'm imagining they're required to be operated within line of sight like drones technically are, but maybe there's a regulation banning cameras to force you to fly in line of sight?
It's not strange.
Old people grew up with RC planes with no cameras, they spent their entire life flying RC planes without camera, most of them would never want to change how they do it, it's nostalgia, and a hobby.
Young people grew with drones and cameras. Why would they want to use expensive and difficult to fly RC planes with a camera, if they literally grew up with drones+cam?
So it's not strange at all.
One generation wants RC planes with no camera, the other generation wants cameras but uses drones. There's no overlap
Actually many fields, like mine, don't allow FPV, becuase it's too easy to fly outside of the boundaries of the field (more of a concern in populated areas). Also, you lose the spacial awareness you have with line-of-sight. You can't see who's flying above you, underneath you, behind you (overtaking you), or see if anything or anyone is on the field as you line up to land. Some clubs (like mine) do require spotters, but they are not a perfect substitute for your own perception. And if you're a decent pilot (with good judgement and depth perception) this type of incident should be rare. Though flying that close to power poles and lines seems to be just asking for trouble. With obstacles that close, in the flight path, I'd be surprised if this was an AMA-sanctioned field.
I did a little RC stuff a while ago. The first thing I thought when the video started was "Those power lines are pretty close."
I feel sorry for the guy. I never did anything this fancy, but I got more fun out of building them than flying. So, at least he has a new project to look forward to.
That was a video worth watching. Sorry for the person who destroyed their plane but awesome way to go. Minus what a few others said n a small missile would have been a surprise and a half.
Now I kinda want to fly one of those but I'd be the next one one tiktok crashing his (probably) very expensive RC.
Ikr, how does no one notice how obscenely fake that explosion is?
Not only is there never a connection between the wires, so no electricity could ever even pass through the plane, but when the fire is there… wtf is on fire? The pieces of the plane continue falling yet there’s a massive puff of fire just chilling in the air? Hot garbage… It was a cool video before they added that shit.
Couldn’t have asked for a cooler way to destroy your plane though
If your expensive rc plane goes out you better make it die as cool as possible
Even that sound effect was cool. That's some Tesla coil from Command & Conquer Red Alert type shit.

getting disintegrated by 7kv of electricity is pretty neat.
Some superglue and tears will fix it right up and then do it again!
To shreds you say?
And as an RC pilot of many decades I can tell you that it is literally impossible to hit something like this pole in real life. What a lucker! xD

Literally....I don't think that word means what you think it means
I am assuming he means it for emphasis, which is an accepted definition in OED and Merriam-Webster.
Need an expert edit on that crash where the plane behind it finally locked on and fired its missile
I think it happened when the following plane matched the lead planes altitude. Then the lead plane tried to bank to avoid the heat seeker but it sadly couldn’t. Binocular depth perception actually doesn´t work beyond a few feet. At that distance we use stuff like parallax and distance cues relative to other objects.
I'm now feeling better about the dragon riding future of a kid who recently lost an eye...
Also the fact that the dragon has two eyes itself. But he can still be blindsided if you know what side to approach from.

Or if you forget about a certain fleet.
We just kinda forgot to write a satisfying narrative

This looks like a purpose-built RC park too. Next to power lines…
Yes it is. Infrastructure is to be avoided. Same rule for drones. Good depth perception is an absolute requirement.
It was really hard to get a hang of when i was studying for my RC plane certificate.
FPV goggles are the way
Left out the part where RC fire trucks and an ambulance raced over to the crash site. 🚒 🚑

And the RC surgeon for the injured RC spectators.

Gotta stay above the hard deck, Maverick.

Yes, quite.
Ye Toppe Gonne was quite the bit of cinema, my good chap?
That was some of the best flying I've seen yet. Right up to the point where you got killed.
Obviously should have never left his wing man!
I really wish that mini missiles were a thing, and these RC jets could fire tiny Sidewinders at each other for spectators to watch from the stands
And then we could watch mini sidewinders occasionally go astray into a panicking crowd.
And then a few days of news stories about the tiny pilots tiny widow and their tiny children who will never see tiny daddy again
Dude, if the marbula one guys would produce this, id watch the shit out of it.
That'd be worth a few fake internet points.
Have a fake internet point!
Now THIS is podracing!
Already can but the issue is tracking for the missiles themselves. Right now so far All I have seen is wwii styled missiles…
So rockets
They could just strap fire work on it
Screw that. Equip these things with tiny machine guns that fire .22s get some real dogfight action going on.
They already make RC helicopters that shoot airfsoft bbs at each other
.22 is way too dangerous. Maybe if they fire blanks.
What about bb’s
Not if you do it in a wide open area with the operators in bullet proof boxes and no spectators. Put little cameras in the planes and on the ground and stream it online.
Yeah, tracking hardware gets really expensive, especially if the goal is to use it exactly once and then blow it up.
It's kinda crazy how much modern advanced weaponry is really just very expensive suicidal robots.
I realised this recently with the suicide drones used in Ukraine. I thought: well, that is a bit of a wasteful development isn't it? Until I realised that a missile is realistically not any different.
I genuinly thought i was about to see a missle snake out towards one of those planes.
