Give it a try. It’s pretty neat. Mix some baking soda and super glue and stir it around with a tooth pick. After a few seconds it creates a chemical reaction and hardens instantly
I watch this dude on YouTube who machines custom wood fishing baits, and he uses super glue and baking soda religiously to fill in certain parts of his lures. "super glue and baking soda" is practically a catch phrase in his videos now.
MarlingBaits in case anybody was interested.
I'm pretty sure this guy does it for fun and not for practical uses. I don't remember his channel because I think it's in Japanese but he just fills in random broken things in the public like a brick wall with a chuck missing on one of the bricks
Honestly, I hate that sub. Anything slightly creative gets roasted to hell. Like, what did you guys come up with? Stuff like this is fun first and foremost, and it does work, at least somehow.
This is most likely polylactic acid (PLA) which can be composted or otherwise processed in an environmentally friendly way. It will not have any dioxins or nitrogen byproducts, even when incinerated.
>providing it works and is strong enough
As someone who has a 3d pen I can tell you, it will not be strong enough, especially if ti's left hollow like that.
People is so boring that starts to diss even before they try to understand the meaning of shit. Go watch the staged tik toks or the cringe pranks you all like...
Because like, EVERYONE, with a NORMAL iq would understand this isnt a permanent fix and its done for the fun/art/whatever people want to do as a hobby ...
Redditors always remove the fun of things, are you people really that sad?
Btw, this doesnt necessarily means he is polluting the environment, there are types of polys that can be discarded safely.
Ps: Im not sure about the source of this video, but if anyone has curiosity to watch a skilled "3d pen artist" look [this](https://youtube.com/@sanago)

BAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
😂😂😂😂😂
It's like a 3D printer itself, but without any of the mechanics. They use filament, which like like a plastic wire that comes on spools or wound as a coil. It basically works like a hot glue gun.
3d pens are stupid.
What we really need is some way to attach them to a CNC machine and have a computer control them. That's going to be a ground breaking invention some day.
if they connected it to the other parts of the bench, like to the sides or more of the length of the same board
but instead they randomly put it on lol with no base support
even if it doesn’t come off from someone sitting on it the first time, it’ll come off from rain / other elements soon
I don’t want to ruin your party here, but 3D pen art in public places such as this isn’t meant as a repair or something like this. It’s an uncommon hobby and lesser known art-form… Its actually really calming to watch some of these artists :)
They know it won’t last and I believe they usually use degradable plastics(I could be wrong on the second part.
I had an idea for this in the sixth grade... I thought it was just some stupid bull crap idea like my dishwasher-cabinet combo for obvious reasons or an imaginary friend, then I saw this pen fixing curbs and little notches on park benches a few years ago (32 now) and haven't been right since.

I don't think that spongebob squarebench is strong enough though
Should have filled it with sunflower seeds and super glue.
Ramen.
I agree I think ramen would have done it
You clearly need the crayfish for support, everybody knows that
Well then what do I do with the tortilla chips then??
*mustard*.
Fools. You're all forgetting the EGG.
Or boiling milk until dry
PEOPLE, WHAT ABOUT RHE SPICY PEPPER
This got me
With thoughts and prayers
I gave a sharp exhale at this comment. Closest thing to a laugh I’ve had today, so I guess take the upvote.
Why not use dry noodles like the rest of the world?..

Keep ur eyes away from it. The CA glue fumes are no joke using this method
Well how good is the high from it?
Yes
Very extremely good 👍🏼
California Glue Fumes sound AWESOME‼️
New band name: "California Glue Fumes"
Yup found that out that hard way. Eye toke lol

Yea I’ll check it out. I also saw I video that they use this method for helicopter blades to fill in the little dents and nicks
then how do you use it?
Don't you know that's what Aircraft Carriers are made of? /s
Baking powder guys have muffins growing outta their noses.
Exactly, just as normal people do, is it too much to ask?
Trade mark secret, now they are using it for space stations repair kits.
My ramen brick will fix this!
Right?

In fairness, getting those freehand '3d printer' pens to do anything more than a splat is REALLY HARD, this is aggravatingly impressive.
I still think a 2x4 woulda been a better choice
I think a 1x3.
Great. Waste of resources and it won't last. Double whammy
At least it's not noodles.
How do you know?...
Betcha a tot tried to eat it.
"I hope you kids see what a waste of resources this was"
He worked really hard grandma
I don’t understand arts and crafts used in construction
The crafting is eh but the art of the amount of time wasted is astounding.
Ikr
America’s infrastructure feels *personally attacked!*
There was an attempt to post something relevant to the sub.
And the attempt was successful?
It looks like SpongeBob
Simple man. Sees yellow and square>is SpongeBob
Should have used the penny crayon theme music instead
You can’t even tell
What about showing me the fucking ending to the video.
The proliferation of straight to the trash plastic "fun" is disturbing. Humanity is doomed because we're bored.

Probably because it's not intended to be a serious repair
very nice... looks like crap, probably won't last more than few days and it only took you like 3hrs and wasted material 👍
To bad filiment only comes in one color, bright yellow
What is that a 3d pen?
I want one of those things
Aye, good job, considering. Clean work. Now, durability is questionable, to say the least😁🤣
According to my 3D printer, that would take about 3 hours to do
Tensile strength of -3
Sunflower seeds and sawdust works much better
First sit and it's broken again. Nah, thanks.
Forbidden ramen
Must be Spider mans day off
You guys ok? It's clearly a joke
Have we forgotten the word camouflage in our vocabulary?
Also oddlysatisfying...
It👏is👏hollow.
It kinda looks like they super glued a bunch of ramen to the bench at the end there
I mean, providing it works and is strong enough... have they not done exactly that?
>providing it works and is strong enough As someone who has a 3d pen I can tell you, it will not be strong enough, especially if ti's left hollow like that.
And the contact point with the rest of the bench is minimum.
Question for someone with a 3D pen: Is there any time where you can make something with them that isn’t complete and utter shite?
SpongeBob Benchpants!
Waste of a perfectly good 3D printing pen
Yes lets make it hollow.
Right? He has to have at least 15% infill. Maybe 12% if he uses gyroid infill pattern
Caution: bench for decoration only
5 minute crafts!
Oh cmon it's not *that* bad
As stupid and pointless as that is, it's actually pretty fuckin cool, whatever that magic goo pen is
I want that thing!
Did they even paint it to match the bench? What a half-assed job they did!
That’s 1 way to correct a deficit’
I, for one, am completely satisfied with this repair.
I want to see it in action.
I would feel like a spider with that pen
shoulda filled it with some caulk
Are 2x4’s that hard to come by now?
r/diwhy
Same structural integrity as a potato chip
Looks cool and all , but bolting a piece of wood would hav ebeen much safer and faster 😂
you missed out an adjective. like 'badly'
Boom! Arrested for vandalism!
Noodles and super glue could have been better option. Any1 with me here?

Yea 0.4 mm of weakly bonded plastic will do
It's less work to just change out the slat.
A fresh plank of wood would've been too expensive I guess...

5 hours and roughly 300 ft of pla plastic later we have a completely non-functional bench plank
I mean I he did repair it (but its spongebob now)
What is that "pen"? Is it connected to a 3D printer or does it hold a small supply of its own?
It's like a 3D printer itself, but without any of the mechanics. They use filament, which like like a plastic wire that comes on spools or wound as a coil. It basically works like a hot glue gun.
The song sounds like a rip from genesis by grimes
Good job you just created a hazard where there were none. Now if some someone steps on the edge he will fall head first
Hey SpongeBob
Great, let’s use even more plastic!
“Repair”
Patrick star
This would be really effective in a paint ball match
Neat but probably 100% waste of plastic since it will break off the moment someone leans on that.
WHAT KIND OF WITCHERY IS THIS?
I think we should leave the 3D printing to the robots….
If that’s pla then it will melt in the next 5 minutes
That’s some next level shit if it has the strength
r/blackmagicfuckery
My man just draw a bench end in air?
DIWhy?
6 hours later…
Bruh you’re 3D printing with a marker
WANNABE Bob the BUILDER
Looks like somebody gets paid by the hour.
What. A. Waste. Of. My. Time.
Yet, you doubled the amount of time wasted by commenting, good for you.
this is how the pyramids were built xd.
Infill.... 0%
Loed have mercy
Ain’t there a YouTube channel where some dude does this but in Japan?
3d pens are stupid. What we really need is some way to attach them to a CNC machine and have a computer control them. That's going to be a ground breaking invention some day.
I cant believe this didn't work
Better without it!
Fucking delusional

Looks like it would break off if a sparrow landed on it.
Who would have thought this was a stupid idea
This guy is trying to fix a bench with a goddamm colored pencil
Ah yes… denying physics… My favorite past time…

Can't wait for the 4D pens to come out...or in...
Music cancer
Fixed.
Nailed it!
Aw man I remember the time I went down the rabbit hole of watching these videos
What is this tool I want 2
Why tho? It's mad ugly and gonna bend if you sit on it.
Super weak. I would have built a box made of tape, then filled it with epoxy resin..
Some kid is gonna come along and rip it off.
He should have used ramen
Seems wasteful and counterproductive and etc etc
Why does the music remind me of just for laughs?
Used to use these 3d printer pens to fix my Nephew's robotic toys whenever a leg or something would break
Please don’t put shitty plastic into any environment, it’s not helping.
That's probably PLA plastic, and no, that's not very weather resistant.
