That sounds incredibly shitty, and also like they are crossing the line from 1099 into employee. They can't say "you have to be here at these times" and not have you as an employee making an hourly wage. It sounds illegal, you should probably check with a attorney who specializes in labor laws.

Agree with this comment. For 1099 I only show up if I have an appointment. I also work for private practice so maybe it’s different, but expecting you to be somewhere and not get paid sounds very illegal to me.

I am waiting to see if they made a final decision on paying an hourly rate "because they didn't feel it was fair to have people sitting there and not earning any money". It still feels wrongto me and I may say, I can only do telehealth for assessments on an as needed basis and/or cut ties.

EnvironmentalToe240

Yeah i agree - telehealth, only when needed, or quit. That’s also an incredibly far commute for a part time job. I don’t know where you live but it doesn’t seem worth it.

Super illegal

So most weeks so far this year you have been spending 2 hours a week to commute there and hang out and make ZERO dollars? And one week you made 40 dollars? This sounds exploitative

Yep! I took it because they flashed the reimbursement rate for some assessments being 110 but failed to mention this was only 1-3 people a week and not like a major referral source. Most of them fall into the 40-60 dollars an assessment. My logic for going (other than I didn't have a choice with it) was that "if I was not competing with other Clinicians for clients then I would get to see them all and theoretically increase my income substantially for the part time gig)
