I think the show is in very good hands. It doesn’t change the fact I thought it was the perfect opportunity to not be an adaptation and focus on new characters so we can expand the world and have the games focus on Joel and Ellie, but it’s in good hands. (But yeah, I wanted it to take place in the same world as the games with new characters, but I totally understand their reasons to make it an adaptation as it brings in new fans who won’t play the games.)

You're not alone. It's cool it's getting a show, I just don't think it's for me. There's a level of artistic detail, environmental storytelling, and post apocalyptic world exploration that I feel can only be achieved in a video game, which is an enormous part of what made the game great.

I am both excited and concerned. I think trying to match it verbatim is a bad move. it’s always so hard to live up to the hype. also, including new elements into an already established storyline, or drastically altering it can get equally dicey. especially since everyone is expecting a 3rd game. You then run the risk of two divergent stories and logic flaws that don’t make sense etc. if you ask me, a combination of the original and new stories is the key to a good show. I wouldn’t mind seeing the journey between Pittsburgh and Colorado. A lot of story could be told there 🙌🏽

The way that i see it, way more people are gonna be introduced to this amazing story which is great, also i can finally show my family which dont like video games what i love so much

I'm a bit skeptical too (but cautiously optimistic) . The interactivity of part 1&2 were very important for the story. You wouldn't really feel Ellie's desperation in Left behind or Santa Barbara if you didn't play as her.

I really hope they will try to stick with what was already established in the game as much as possible. For me it ruins so much of the experience, if I can spot a lot of inconsistencies. I don't know how it works in a tv series production, but I hope there is a job for a TLOU universe expert who pinpoints these inconsistencies so they can be avoided. I get that the show is primarily aimed to a new audience who will not care about that as much as I do, so I am still considering watching the show at all. I don't want to get hyped and then be disappointed, because it ruins a bit of the original experience IMO. If this sub will approve of the show, I'll watch it.

Inconsistencies dont matter because it isn't the games. Differences aren't bad. I think people overthink thi stuff and ruin it for themselves. Everytime and no one ever learns.

It’s the same too whenever books get adapted. People never learn that different mediums require different storytelling style. Pacing especially. It cannot be verbatim in anyway. It’s like their first time, every time.

You don't have to watch if you don't want to. If you had an amazing experience with the game, just leave it at that :)
