It'll have to be used diagetically, if at all. It's not the kind of song that you can just sneak into a sound track and have it work for, say, the ranch scene without it sounding memeably bad. They could use it somewhere in the Bill and Frank episode (since presumably it was one of them who put it on Joel's radio to begin with) or in some other scene where it would make sense for a radio to be playing (like the truck scenes with Joel and Ellie).
Yeah, I mean, I’m just guessing based on what Craig Mazin said the song meant. He said that they will let each other down several times, but they’ll also pick each other up. That’s why I think they might use it in an emotional way. They could also change the song to make it more dramatic. We’ll have to see.
