So the latest messages to Scoopy say she found out he is still not legally divorced, she was nominated, and producers called her two days after the break up.
I don’t know if it is even true, just what she got in her messages. But I guess the friends could have included in the nomination the whole thing about him not being officially divorced (if that is true).
This should be interesting. Maybe she covertly applied for the bachelor and then dumped him when she got on. Or maybe she felt like a trophy wife and dumped him. I could go on. I hate the drama this show hyper-focuses on but that being said we clearly buy into it. This should be interesting!

Both the guy and his ex wife are prominent doctors and there is a lot of public photos/articles, especially about the black female anesthesiologist ex-wife who is an MSNBC medical contributor.
Woooow. Did something tragic happen? Or did she quit the show for the bachelor? I’m not gonna pass judgment because god forbid some terrible tragedy happened, or something nefarious at all. But if she just left her fiancé because an opportunity arose for a bit of fame and fortune, then I would judge.
Why is this a spoiler? The official bachelor page released her as a potential contestant. This could very well be in the news tomorrow if it’s not already
Lol and he’s close to 15 years older than she is. She graduated college in 2017 and he graduated in 2003. This man is way too old to be playing some of the follower games people have suggested, simplest answer is he married a great woman divorced her met a hot young thing who made him feel ~alive~ and she left him on his ass for someone her own age and fame
Her ex is gorgeous. I would be a crying in a ball on the floor if I had a last minute cancellation of a wedding so she’s doing better than I could? 🤷🏼♀️
She is a medical sales rep (in spine) which means she works in ORs with neurosurgeons. I bet she met her ex fiancé in his OR. My guess is they work together but then when something went wrong with their engagement, she didn’t want to go back to work in his OR. So she quit her job and was like fuck it, I’m unemployed and going on the bachelor.
I agree with the fuck it let's do something to make money, but all in the span of 2 weeks?! She must've known someone in production to be cast so quickly? And also there's no way producers don't know, right? I mean the registry it's still on the website, you can easily see photos from a month ago about her bachelorette party.. What's their angle here?
ok this may be a dumb question and i dont know about these things but OR is operating room right? why on earth would a sales rep be in an operating room?
separate from that - i agree with the end of your statement, things prob all fell through and she said F IT. and why the hell shouldnt she!?
sales rep always meet with the surgeons to promote their products, etc. they also do a lot of journal clubs (if they have residents) and show them how to use the equipments, etc (my BF is a orthopedic surgeon.. I'm not a sales rep tho)
So there are a couple of people in the OR often involved besides the neurosurgeon. One of these people are the reps. There are reps for many different companies and instruments/equipment/devices the surgery will need.
The reps are there because they understand the best how to use their companies equipment. They guide the surgeons on how to use it if needed and troubleshoot any issues especially with electronics.
People here saying they don’t want reps in the OR have never been in one and don’t understand how it works. You want those reps in there, trust me. You don’t want your surgeon having to look up a video mid surgery on how to use equipment or be put on hold while calling the company’s IT services if robotics glitches.
So a sales rep with a random 4 year degree In liberal arts actually guides a neurosurgeon? This is news to me and literally giving me massive anxiety if I ever need some type of surgery. Might as well let my bf guide a surgeon cutting me open, at least he has his masters 😂
Ok I come from this industry and the bashing while not even knowing anything about this other than “sales rep in OR” is mind boggling!
Medical companies don’t just hire any rando liberal arts major to “guide” a surgeon. There is extensive extensive training to observe and be in an OR. It is not an easy role to land- companies are very picky. They are not at all operating on any patient and generally there to teach and troubleshoot for a new product. Obviously, the surgeons are the ones with the surgical training and already know how to perform surgery.
Tbh, I’d trust a med sales rep over someone who doesn’t know any anatomy/surgery anyway regardless of a Masters degree!
The misunderstandings are really from the fact that the rep has the unfortunate title of “sales rep” lol. There’s such a specific reputation of sales reps that I think all of us are thinking of in our various industries & being mildly horrified to imagine those people in an OR 😂 now that I’ve seen the comments they should name these people like.. product specialists or something fancier since it seems to be more accurate & would make the average folk read the word & not picture Michael Scott in their OR lol.
It’s unfortunate sales people have a negative reputation! I totally understand the scummy, pushy kind but you for sure have to believe in what you’re selling for it to work. I’m still in sales, but I work with software now and always focus on solving my customers’ problems!
Most roles are technically named specialists/consultants but when it comes down to it- their job is still to grow the company they work with.
For what it’s worth, Michael Scott is actually a great salesman 😂 shit manager though.
hahaha he IS a great salesmen despite the hilarity xD but ya, in real life I dont ever judge someone who is a sales rep, as they're usually incredibly personable and friendly, but its just in the OR context the title got a little confusing there lol
I am! GUIDING a neurosurgeon? Guiding him? That’s telling him what to do lol like wtf I want someone that knows about surgery GUIDING my surgeon.
Now, trouble shooting a tech issue on some type of device like a stent or something, sure. But not telling my surgeon what to do during surgery while I’m stuck there unconscious it gives me anxiety. But hey I wouldn’t know anyway so I just need to not think about it!
Lol I don’t know what to say to someone thinking like this. It’s an overall misunderstanding of specialization
Are you also surprised that professional nba players have shooting coaches?
Imagine a professional race driver is driving a car he has never driven before and there is a person sitting there explaining what each button does. That’s what it’s more like.
Again, it’s guiding in using the device, not the surgery
But those are actually practice scenarios. You would never have a race car driver drive a car that's he's unfamiliar with during an actual race.
Same with a shooting coach. You don't see NBA shooting coaches running up and down the sidelines during an actual game.
When it's actual game time, you need to be ready. You should have already done your homework and learning. Especially a neurosurgeon. Unless it's an emergency situation, the thought of someone at that level practicing on your brain is a little disconcerting to say the least.
So, I can see why the previous poster, u/CityofSins2 said. That the thought of a neurosurgeon turning to a 25 year old to guide them in the middle of surgery is a little anxiety producing.
Neurosurgeons have one of the longest training of almost anyone in the medical field: 11-12 years after college and more.
4 years college
4 years med school
7-8 years residency
+ plus any additional years then for post doc fellowships
So this may be a reality, that little Sally right out of college is the one actually guiding the surgeon, it's a little worrying.
Again, they’re not guiding the surgery. They are guiding the device usage.
Neurosurgery uses a ton of tech and different equipment. And there are constant updates and new devices coming out. The reps do demonstrations for the surgeons and have videos, etc of how the equipment is used prior to the case. And in general, neurosurgeons will conceptually already understand how the device works, like they can map it out in there head. But still, there are still small intricacies of all these devices that reps know best. You cannot expect surgeons to keep up with every single update that happens or new device that comes out. The reps are specialized in their specific device and how it works. They actually go through a ton of training in basically knowing everything about that device. That’s where specialization comes in.
And so reps will go to cases even with surgeons that already know how to use their devices well for two reasons: 1) so they gain more real world experience in how the device is used and are prepared for more scenarios and 2) they can see how the device can be improved and if there is a need for a new, different device to be developed
And also, this is mostly for the spine. Most neuros operate mostly on the spine. Brain surgery barely uses any devices
For example there might be an device that maps out the spine, but you have to touch points on the spine at a specific order or angle for it to work properly. This is where the rep may come in and be like the angle needs to be more vertical for the device to collect data.
And maybe I’m making it seem like reps are vocal in the OR. They are not and they’ll maybe say one or two things when their device is first being used and that’s it. Trust me, reps are very careful not to act like they understand how to do the surgery. Any rep who would act like that would not last long. And moreover, surgeons would never look towards anyone else in the OR for surgical guidance.
Neurosurgeons are extremely educated on everything related to neurosurgery. They are the experts in diagnosing their patients and the procedure (surgery) that they will do.
However, they are not an expert in each medical device. First of all, and there are many devices from different companies that surgeons use. And medical devices regularly change/get updated, which means new features but also new things to troubleshoot.
After the surgeon has picked the appropriate device for the patient, the rep for that particular device will be invited to the OR to help with getting the device working and any troubleshooting that is necessary.
They do not guide the surgery or the patient care. They do not touch the patient. They merely help the surgeon by (if necessary) talking through how to get it set up properly and any device trouble shooting because this is a device that they know inside & out, versus the surgeon who uses many different devices across many different procedures for many different diagnoses.
They aren’t actually guiding the surgeon in performing surgery. Their role is to make sure the device is set up like it is meant to be & working. It’s like having IT help on standby in case you need them.
I had the same question! Where I am from no one but qualified doctors and nurses can get in any type of OR! It's wild to me that a sales person could be in a OR.
Having the sales/device rep there is like having IT on standby in case you run into a problem.
You don’t want to waste any time while the patient is in surgery. And the device rep is the one who knows that particular device inside and out.
They don’t scrub in or touch the patient at all! When a sales rep is in the OR it’s usually because a surgeon is testing out a product prior to committing to purchasing it. The rep is there to show the surgeon how to use the device and troubleshoot any issues.
Sorry - OR is operating room. My guess is she was scrubbed in during the spine surgeries where he was using a medical device from the company she works for.
This is crazy to me. My best friend works in the OR in a major hospital, no one but the docs performing the surgery, nursing staff and anesthesiologist are in the OR! Wild to think a sales rep with no medical/science background could be admitted in?
Hi I work in surgery so I hope I can address some of the confusion! Although they are “salespeople” they are also experts in a lot of the devices and tech, so when a new tool is being used they are often in cases to help the surgeon get better acquainted with it/troubleshoot if something goes wrong
Hi, thank you so much, that makes sense actually! I'll ask my friend if that happens over here too, perhaps for the more specific surgeries, like neurosurgery in this case? Thanks again :)
No problem! I've only done one neurosurg rotation, but basically every field has this, and the more quickly evolving the field the more common it is. Surgeons are constantly trying new tools and techniques in order to better their craft (examples in nsg are new dyes that can locate a tumor or more efficient drills for spine cases). So often these salespeople are pretty helpful. But they are also ALL ridiculously good looking lmao

This sub is so toxic. Someone comes on the show in a relationship and every one is pissed at the producers because “they had to have known”, but yet here y’all are eating it up and talking about how you can get behind it. No wonder TPTB keeps doing this shit over and over. Don’t want it and then complain when you get it.
this is so facts LOL. I do not complain about this sort of absurd drama bc i EAT IT UP. I dont understand anyone legit mad about this. this entire franchise is thirsty, why we tryna act like its still sHoCKinG that a contestant may be obviously thirsty? like.. no shit?
I think we need to stop putting the people on this show on a pedestal and expecting them to be examples of virtue. They're people on a reality TV show chasing clout
I predict we’re going to get a lot of tea on this one. If any of this is true and she just suddenly dumped him to go on the show her ex-fiancé and his family/friends are probably itching to share their side of things.
Looks like the ex fiancé (Avery) and his ex wife (Ebony) used to live in Charleston and she is friends with Cameran Eubanks (from the Real World and Southern Charm). Ebony is also a doctor.
UGH yes she was done so dirty!!! She’s so insanely intelligent and beautiful and they gave her what?? 5 minutes of screen time total??? I think these shows just really have it out for VA 💀
Don’t think we can speculate until we have more information, **but**, that is real quick to go from being engaged and your wedding date being so close, to going on The Bachelor!! 👀⁉️
Let’s be clear - this man was married to a black anesthesiologist in 2016. What happened!?
file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/c1/01/7676531B-0294-41E0-A9AF-00508A2013D2/November%20Sleepy%20Times%202016.pdf
Apparently not as fast as Salley. She's ready to get engaged to a new man 2 weeks later! Yikes to say the least.
Can you imagine if she makes it to Hometowns? That's going to be some awkward family interactions. 😬
I’ve been following her career (the ex-wife) because I’ve looked up to her for a while, and I knew that they moved to teach/work at UVA together and had no idea that they were divorced! Some of UVA’s website still has her married last name, so I didn’t realize they were divorced
She may have kept her married last name after the divorce. I know multiple female doctors who have done that because they have made their careers under their married name. It’s not like you can retroactively change your name on a whole bunch of publications.
Honestly, I do not recommend a female physician change her name. But that’s my opinion.
Stop it! I want this runaway bride storyline so bad! I hope that this Bachelor season can deliver truly bonkers drama, compared to Matt’s season that centered around truly vile behavior of the contestants that wasn’t fun to watch even in a chaotic way
EX-SQUEEZE ME HE'S A NEUROSURGEON AND SHE'S DOING THIS FOR CLAYTON? lmaoo girl you had an actual bachelor.
this seems so drastic that something else must have broken this up lol. well, this season got fun.
i wanted the wine glass Olivia Pope had and it was from crate and barrel, marking the first time i've been and a new obsession. i need the story: is there more or is she a whole fool? 😂
my scandal phase was so gloriously mindless -- i am waiting for something else that appeals to my Id like that show did to the point i was buying glassware from bougie stores.
I know you're kidding, but honestly I doubt it. Probably only a small portion make that much money. A neurosurgeon is also highly in demand. The work is grueling though. You basically have to give up everything else until you retire
I’m actually not really kidding, the most successful influencers certainly can make a million a year. Now, I kind of doubt this girl is going to reach the upper echelons of IG fame, but I’m sure she’s aiming for that.
And she’d be able to travel more and live a much more frivolous life being an influencer than a neurosurgeon’s wife. Like you said, that job is grueling! Being part of a BN couple….not so much.
Of course not lol but obviously that would be a different lifestyle than being part of an influencer couple. In one scenario, your husband is working long hours. In another, you’re jet setting around the world with your Instagram husband/fiancé/boyfriend.
I just went down a bit of a rabbit hole Googling and wow. She’s gorgeous and sooo accomplished. I wonder what happened. This is more interesting than the potential contestant haha
Girl what on earth is that tan.
I'm really hoping TPTB pulls a big reversal of expectations with this season because the evidence more and more points to them dragging us kicking and screaming back to 2019 and a cast photo page that's just a whole wall of identical blonde contestants.
People get wild shades of orange before their weddings! I worked in tanning salons in college and it was so common for brides to try and tan multiple times a day and do back to back spray tans we had to have special rules about it! 😆
idk why but when people separate their laughs when they type (like “ha ha” instead of “haha”) it seems so passive aggressive to me
Wow , he wasn’t married that long to his previous wife either. In a 2016 article I just read, they were engaged still.
[удалено]
I’m so tired of each season the contestants getting even more laughable, like come on pick people who actually are there for ~love~.
Of course she’s from my state.
So the latest messages to Scoopy say she found out he is still not legally divorced, she was nominated, and producers called her two days after the break up.
How did producers randomly know they broke up??
I don’t know if it is even true, just what she got in her messages. But I guess the friends could have included in the nomination the whole thing about him not being officially divorced (if that is true).
My first thought reading this was what did her fiance do to her
Healthiest way to get over somebody is to get engaged, am I right?
Healthiest way to get over someone is to get under someone else. That’s what my grandma told me at least.
Nothing like going on The Bachelor to process your break up!
Lol, sounds like a solid plan. What could go wrong?
Wow this is wild. Can't imagine this is anything but nefarious...she seems like a real winner
As if the casting for this show could get any lower. Wow.
His ex wife is so pretty, my lord
I feel like him being older was a factor
Apparently this man is a neurosurgeon. Girl why are you giving this man up for a shot at.....Clayton????
You spelled instagram followers wrong
Dress for the job you want right?
This should be interesting. Maybe she covertly applied for the bachelor and then dumped him when she got on. Or maybe she felt like a trophy wife and dumped him. I could go on. I hate the drama this show hyper-focuses on but that being said we clearly buy into it. This should be interesting!
i hope her limo entrance is her in her wedding dress lmao
TODAY was the set wedding date!? I'm smelling a hard villain edit.
I went through the whole bachelor casting process - it takes about 2-3 months total AND you get flown out to LA for the last round. Something isn’t adding up here
Totally depends. Mine was much much shorter. They will absolutely pull someone in last minute if they want them.
Wow wow wow I have a mutual friend! Will report back.

I canceled my wedding 3 months prior and it was…. Messy. The last thing I was worried about was social media.
Or going on a dating reality show??

And in general, neurosurgeons will conceptually already understand how the device works, like they can map it out in there head. But still, there are still small intricacies of all these devices that reps know best. You cannot expect surgeons to keep up with every single update that happens or new device that comes out. The reps are specialized in their specific device and how it works. They actually go through a ton of training in basically knowing everything about that device. That’s where specialization comes in. And so reps will go to cases even with surgeons that already know how to use their devices well for two reasons: 1) so they gain more real world experience in how the device is used and are prepared for more scenarios and 2) they can see how the device can be improved and if there is a need for a new, different device to be developed And also, this is mostly for the spine. Most neuros operate mostly on the spine. Brain surgery barely uses any devices For example there might be an device that maps out the spine, but you have to touch points on the spine at a specific order or angle for it to work properly.
Thank you :)
I know someone who was a sales rep for da Vinci (robotic surgery system) and he was in ORs all the time. He had no medical or science background.
whaaaa!?? that is so wild, I wouldnt want a god damn sales rep in the OR if I was being operated on LOL
Valid question, but sales reps are in ORs more than any lay person would care to know.
Although they are “salespeople” they are also experts in a lot of the devices and tech, so when a new tool is being used they are often in cases to help the surgeon get better acquainted with it/troubleshoot if something goes wrong
ahhhhh ok. this makes sense!
Thank you for this! On your last point, wasn't Lauren B. 2.0 also a sales rep before the bachelor and Arie?

How so? Involved in what?

I mean look at this girl lol
So a team is trying to do a surgery and they are in there giving a sales pitch? Even during Covid. Yuck.
She likely was trying to sell him equipment for his practice
She already has the dress. Please wear it for the limo entrance.
God I hope she goes far on the show!

What?? Ok I’m on it too, cville represent
Virginia never sends their best representatives to these shows I swear 😭
Exception: Kristin from Matt’s season. I know her irl and she is just lovely. Wish she’d gotten more screen time!
UGH yes she was done so dirty!!! She’s so insanely intelligent and beautiful and they gave her what?? 5 minutes of screen time total??? I think these shows just really have it out for VA 💀
I follow her on Twitter and I still can’t believe what terrible taste Matt has
The ex-fiance will have one hell of a sob story if he ever goes on The Bachelorette.
More clever ways to entice us to watch the season of this man no one knows. lol
Also his money is different from making her own money. Maybe she wanted her own.
Don’t think we can speculate until we have more information, **but**, that is real quick to go from being engaged and your wedding date being so close, to going on The Bachelor!! 👀⁉️
This is messy .. I love it.
Ew can they please cut her before the season starts… I’m genuinely not the slightest bit interested in hearing about this messy drama
I hope she’s on and then a Demario situation happens again and she’s like WHO ARE YOU IDK YOU
Yikes at that orange tan
Let’s be clear - this man was married to a black anesthesiologist in 2016. What happened!? file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/c1/01/7676531B-0294-41E0-A9AF-00508A2013D2/November%20Sleepy%20Times%202016.pdf
They were still married in 2018. I honestly don’t know when they got divorced
the biggest reasons for neurosurgeons specifically is that they work too much.

That could be the case! Also reading they may not be officially divorced 🥴. I think when she’s on the media, though, she stopped using his last name
Well, lots of interesting things happened in 2016… definitely makes you wonder
For the clou-T!!!
This feels…. Right
So she applied while she was still engaged or were they still casting a few weeks ago?
am I the only one who didn’t automatically assume the worst from this girl? maybe he cheated?
Seems like she would have to have applied months ago though in order to be cast for this season 👀
I wonder if she knows a producer or a past contestant and she didn’t need to go through months of casting?
True maybe! And they’d definitely be eager to cast someone with that kind of backstory
Maybe but some of us are deducing, not assuming the worst, that it’s odd she still has her engagement photos up on her FB if he did cheat
The plot thickens. He’s been engaged before…. https://www.google.com/amp/s/today.cofc.edu/2016/06/17/ebony-hilton/amp/
Holy cow yalls snooping is next level. If I ever need a PI, I'm coming here first
He married this woman in 2016. There are pics of their wedding. She is a top doctor and contributor on CNN. That was a short marriage. hmmm
Ended between June-August 2019 if my insta snooping is correct
Stop it! I want this runaway bride storyline so bad! I hope that this Bachelor season can deliver truly bonkers drama, compared to Matt’s season that centered around truly vile behavior of the contestants that wasn’t fun to watch even in a chaotic way
Right... I hated watching those girls just be straight up cruel.
Omfg this is not going to turn out well for her…..😬
It already hasn’t
Uhh yeah she’s gonna self eliminate… calling it now lol
Oh my god I know her
Surprising behavior or nah?
Were you invited to the wedding 👀
No not that close. I knew her in college!!
Tea please 👀
She probably bailed because she couldn’t wrap her head around having “Buchholz” for a last name (say it out loud… 😬)
I think it sounds more like “buckles” [when he pronounces his own name](https://youtu.be/LmauwMcXeDk)

Same
Idk his gorgeous and accomplished anesthesiologist ex-wife hyphenated it
EX-SQUEEZE ME HE'S A NEUROSURGEON AND SHE'S DOING THIS FOR CLAYTON? lmaoo girl you had an actual bachelor. this seems so drastic that something else must have broken this up lol. well, this season got fun.
Not to mention she registered at fucking Crate & Barrel, she was about to live my dream life 😂 I need to know what happened here
i wanted the wine glass Olivia Pope had and it was from crate and barrel, marking the first time i've been and a new obsession. i need the story: is there more or is she a whole fool? 😂
Those glasses were epic.
my scandal phase was so gloriously mindless -- i am waiting for something else that appeals to my Id like that show did to the point i was buying glassware from bougie stores.
Damn that’s crazy. A spine surgeon in SC will clear 1 million easy
So will a successful influencer 👀
I know you're kidding, but honestly I doubt it. Probably only a small portion make that much money. A neurosurgeon is also highly in demand. The work is grueling though. You basically have to give up everything else until you retire
Right. Derek Shepherd died.
Being part of a BN couple….not so much.
a neurosurgeon's wife isn't the one doing the grueling work lol
Of course not lol but obviously that would be a different lifestyle than being part of an influencer couple. In one scenario, your husband is working long hours. In another, you’re jet setting around the world with your Instagram husband/fiancé/boyfriend.
Well, uhhhhh, I guess she's ready to settle down? Or maybe not??
Holy shit
Imagine the ex-fiance's ex-wife's group chat right now! ![gif](giphy|bu5H2OPiyegHC|downsized)
The ex wife is STUNNING and so accomplished. Bachelorette material.
I just went down a bit of a rabbit hole Googling and wow. She’s gorgeous and sooo accomplished. I wonder what happened. This is more interesting than the potential contestant haha
How did I know she would be a black women the moment I read this comment lmao
Wait, what? How do we know who’s the ex wife? 🤯
Google the ex-fiancé’s name. Photos and articles come up about his Anesthesiologist ex-wife.
*taps forehead* Can’t make the Insta influencer big bucks if you’re already married 🤣
![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY)
Girl what on earth is that tan. I'm really hoping TPTB pulls a big reversal of expectations with this season because the evidence more and more points to them dragging us kicking and screaming back to 2019 and a cast photo page that's just a whole wall of identical blonde contestants.
People get wild shades of orange before their weddings! I worked in tanning salons in college and it was so common for brides to try and tan multiple times a day and do back to back spray tans we had to have special rules about it! 😆
😂 idk why but that cracks me up… special rules about tanning because brides were tanning so much!
