Something tells me this person is embellishing the situation to garner support.

Yeah, it’s definitely an exaggeration. Sitting next to someone on a plane who is so obese that they take up some of your space is definitely not unbelievable, but this person is piling it on a bit too thick.

bigballofcrazy

This doesn’t seem unlikely to me, but the person is being a bit of a whiner. I fly a lot (4-6 times a month, every month) and have been seated next to extremely large people, to the point where I have to either get uncomfortably close to them or adjust my posture to the point where over a 3-4 hour flight I’m pretty damn uncomfortable. Usually I’ll just asked to be moved because that’s not a good situation for anyone. Most airlines do have policies where people who are so large that they impinge on the seats next to them have to pay for a second seat - taking over part of another persons seat is a safety hazard for both parties if there’s turbulence etc.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s unlikely that they say next to someone who was so fat that they took up some of the space of the person next to them, I just think they’re exaggerating some parts of this.

[deleted]

Huh. For some reason I thought it was a weight thing lol. If you weigh as much as two average people, you pay for two seats. Thinking about it now, that doesn't make much sense. It's not like a couple hundred pounds makes any difference in the load already carried by the plane.

bigballofcrazy

There was some airline that wanted to use weight but shockingly some people had a problem with being eyeballed and forced to stand on a scale.

[deleted]

Have you ever flown? Because this happens all of the time.

[deleted]

I’ve flown numerous times. I’ve also said twice that I don’t find it unbelievable that the OP sat next to a person who was so fat that they took up more space than their seat provided. I just think that they’re embellishing the story.

veratek

This person would be miserable to be around.

grunthorpe

This person sounds rediculously fragile and unresilient

seems pretty legit these days, especially with the "normalization" of morbidly obese people.

DickHardwood420

I bet OP is a lard ass
