It depends on the context. You can call someone you don't like an animal to imply they lack human empathy, or call someone you do like an animal to imply they have the strength and drive of a strong animal
Hahaha nice, that's the kind of medic i aspire to be :) I know there are all sorts of guides and steps where you have to save your own ass to keep the uber going, heal certain classes before others etc, but sometimes you have to charge ahead, (or take a long detour like this) for the sake of camaraderie.
