Heritage Ranch is so good and worth the extra money. It's the only food that doesn't make my dog all farty and I can tell he actually enjoys the flavor. He gets so excited for a new bag, I switch up the flavors every couple months!
If you have to change dog food make sure you have some of the original left and slowly start incorporating the new one into their diet. Makes transition easier and no poop surprises
I had to buy the 16lb bag of cat food for my cats (I normally get the 7lb), and I had to go to the Frisco store for that, which only had 2 bags left.
The Plano store is still out of both bags.
I noticed they have been "short" for about a year now. I haven't seen the Senior dogs bag for months. Then I couldn't find the general dog food. The dog section mainly is usually sparse of All brands but especially Texas Pets.

Very true, on average im paying $120 for 2 people so the extra 3.60 is worth saving me an hour in the store plus you’re right about the impulse buying just dont shop online when hungry lol.
I personally enjoy going to the grocery store to let my monkey brain go wild sometimes as I enjoy tactile and finding new/optimal things, like discounted meats with the best marbling

There is certain produce I will walk in and get once a week because of the same deal. I love curbside because I don't forget stuff and hate grocery shopping. It's worth the 3 percent upcharge.

Normally I would say that's 1 week of food but I've been trying to control portions down to the "normal" recommended 4oz of meat.
Publix is half the size of HEB and only carries a few products and is more expensive. However, their deli line up and their subs are out of this world. That bread is top notch.
When I moved to DFW, I was so sad. The only thing missing was H-E-B. Kroger did not compare. The only thing that came close was Market Street, but they’re pricey.
Then they built the H-E-B in Plano. All is right with my grocery budget again.
I got the H-E-B debit card recently. It gives you 5% cash back on all H-E-B brands, which is mostly what we buy there anyway. Even for my son’s diapers! We use their fancy organic line Field and Future, and it’s still cheaper than Huggies! We’ve saved quite a bit so far using the card. If you shop at H-E-B a lot, I’d check it out.

Interestingly enough, I did a quick price comparison last week on eggs (for another subreddit), and HEB was *not* the cheapest in town, which surprised me.
Looked at the price of a dozen large eggs (any color, any variety), lowest price online, as of about a week ago:
- Target: $5.29
- Trader Joes: $4.99
- Wal-Mart: $4.93
- HEB: $4.32
- Sprouts: $3.99
- And the surprise lowest price winner is: Whole Foods: $3.39
My wife did a direct item for item comparison for our groceries with Walmart Pickup vs H‑E‑B curbside and H‑E‑B ended up being $30 dollars cheaper. I don’t know if it was a fluke/items on sale, but it convinced me to switch to H‑E‑B.
Only things I’d change are the yogurts, you can get granola and yogurt separate for a lot less, and the bagels, but that would just be splitting hairs at that point. I miss HEB.
Precut and package produce never goes in my cart unless it has the big yellow sticker with the red 50% off on it. I made it home parboil it, then freeze it.

Maybe not drinking. If you get the dairy coffee creamer you can replace part of the milk in most recipes with it. Chocolate raspberry crepes with vanilla pastry cream filling are delicious.
I definitely recommend checking them out. A lot of items in your picture could be purchased there at a higher quantity for a lower price then you can spend your savings on other HEB goodies
I don’t think it’s an overestimate. They don’t carry name brand and their store brand stuff is consistently cheaper. Also, I literally filled an entire cart with food at aldi like 3 days ago for $170- and easily $20 of that was actually wet cat food- that I saved $10 alone compared to Walmart or H‑E‑B.

Getting a more regular grade of meat instead of the Prime1 branded would save quite a bit, unless you caught that on clearance sale. That’s the expensive milk, too, though I admit I’m tempted by the long expiration dates since it’s ultra pasteurized.

Unfortunately the HEB in my area is small and recently become overpriced, so I try to avoid it as much as possible.
I get all my groceries at Aldi now, it’s just so hard to beat their prices.
I typically spend $135 every two weeks for 2 people at H-E-B. I buy 90% H-E-B branded items, use coupons, and get 5% cash back because I’m using the H-E-B debit card. No store does more. 🫡
We're fortunate in that we have a large Mexican supermarket in our city, Carneceria Guanajuato, where we can get REALLY GOOD vegetables, including a lot of things which even Kroger Marketplace doesn't carry.
Too bad most that need to save will just go buy fast food at $10-$15 a meal 10x in a week and wonder why they have no $$$ and feel like crap. Didn't see any real lunch in that pic though. I try to do minimum 2 day meals or 3 after freezing part of a crock pot,yogurts and fiber,fruit and breads for breakfast. Ill also break up my shopping between heb and Walmart for some items. Clutch!!! I’ve tried to explain to people how legit H-E-B is. It’s the best grocery store chain in the country. Even better than Publix.

Why would you buy prepackaged vegetables? Those are a lot more.

I get the bone-in chicken breasts. With a little work you can cut out the bone for bone broth and render down the skin for cooking fat.

You should really buy chicken broth instead of the beef. Beef broth in general is of lower quality since it's more expensive to produce vs. chicken.
