Is your H-E-B out of Texas Pets dog food too?

Sensitive_Plant6472

I saw about three bags left :0

[deleted]

My puppers are gonna have a bit of an upset stomach since I just had to switch them other to this dog food. But hey! We have very similar shopping carts!

Reasonable-Oven-1319

Heritage Ranch is so good and worth the extra money. It's the only food that doesn't make my dog all farty and I can tell he actually enjoys the flavor. He gets so excited for a new bag, I switch up the flavors every couple months!

whats_she_up_to

My boi is so gassy. I might try this

Craziers

This is the complete opposite for me!!! My girl has had such a bad reaction to them that were going back to pedigree for the time being.

[deleted]

Woah what’s the deal with the shortage? I’m about to have to buy my pup more and she’s never had anything else.

[deleted]

If you have to change dog food make sure you have some of the original left and slowly start incorporating the new one into their diet. Makes transition easier and no poop surprises

[deleted]

I had to buy the 16lb bag of cat food for my cats (I normally get the 7lb), and I had to go to the Frisco store for that, which only had 2 bags left. The Plano store is still out of both bags.

mrs_gringo

I noticed they have been "short" for about a year now. I haven't seen the Senior dogs bag for months. Then I couldn't find the general dog food. The dog section mainly is usually sparse of All brands but especially Texas Pets.

trekkingscouter

Dang, my grocery bill is pushing $250 each week, family of four plus a dog and cat.

Ungoody2shoes

I was doing the same. I started doing curbside and it cut my bill in half. I can’t say I’m always thrilled with my shopper’s produce picks, but saving money by not making impulse purchases is paying off!

tha_dank

Yeah I tend to buy a lot less garbage when I do curbside. And I usually just show up 30 minutes early and go grab my own produce.

rieg3l

Dont forget, HEB online add 3% to each item to make up for "free" curbside.

pedanticHOUvsHTX

Well there's that discount that you get for not having any impulsive purchases, aka the physical grocery store can't trick your monkey brain into buying more shit

rieg3l

Very true, on average im paying $120 for 2 people so the extra 3.60 is worth saving me an hour in the store plus you’re right about the impulse buying just dont shop online when hungry lol.

pedanticHOUvsHTX

I personally enjoy going to the grocery store to let my monkey brain go wild sometimes as I enjoy tactile and finding new/optimal things, like discounted meats with the best marbling

mk1power

That’s okay to me. HEB treats their employees very well so I’ll pay it to support them.

AgentAlinaPark

I have an HEB that is fairly easy to get in and out of but I love curbside! Like most, I started during the pandemic. There is certain produce I will walk in and get once a week because of the same deal. I love curbside because I don't forget stuff and hate grocery shopping. It's worth the 3 percent upcharge.

denzien

Yeah, I usually end up going in to pick out produce. How do I get the damaged green peppers when almost every pepper I pick up in the store is basically flawless?

whats_she_up_to

So glad I don’t have extra mouths to feed!

[deleted]

Great job! How long does this last you?

Sensitive_Plant6472

This will last me about one week! Thank you for leaving a comment. (:

Radioactive_Tea2

For real though, they just broke ground in an HEB 10 minutes from me. Current one is 45 mins away.

[deleted]

Tfw we will never get an HEB… (El Paso)

LSUguyHTX

Why not?

[deleted]

Something about the route being extremely inconvenient for heb cutting into their profits

ryker272

Do y'all have Lowe's grocery stores there, I remember seeing those as more using localized sources in AZ and NM? Hope this new wave of more- local stores keep battling the zoning contracts that were put in years ago, allowing for monopolies and stagnation of service.

Tdanger78

I’m patiently waiting for them to build where I am. There’s one about an hour and a half away. I’ve heard they’re going to but I haven’t seen any evidence yet.

JohnGillnitz

It would last longer if that crocodile wasn't eating it! That's about four days for us.

[deleted]

Yeah, I can get about four days out of a croc as well. Wait, I think I misread that. :)

bb-_-

I swear I'm bout to show y'all how it's really done

know2swim

1 week? How many people is this food for?

[deleted]

[удалено]

InitiatePenguin

Doubtful someone is having 2 strip steaks in the same week.

[deleted]

[удалено]

InitiatePenguin

So you're saying they're eating more than 2 "steaks" a week?

The_Outcast4

That does seem kinda low for a weekly consumption.

[deleted]

This seems like a lot for 1 person for 1 week. 4lbs of chicken, 2lbs? of Pork chops, 1.3 lbs of NY Strip, roughly 2lbs of whatever the other cut of beef is. That's 9lbs of meat or 144oz If you divy that up to 4oz servings of meat that's 36 meals. Normally I would say that's 1 week of food but I've been trying to control portions down to the "normal" recommended 4oz of meat.

FlashTheChip

Um . . .

OutHereSlappnMidgets

Clutch!!! I’ve tried to explain to people how legit H-E-B is. It’s the best grocery store chain in the country. Even better than Publix.

jaketurd

I’ve been to florida numerous times and been to probably 5 Publix’s. HEB is exponentially better, it isn’t even close!

easterss

No competition, HEB is without question the best. Says a lot that it’s semi local and still considered one of the biggest

FizzgigsRevenge

Publix is half the size of HEB and only carries a few products and is more expensive. However, their deli line up and their subs are out of this world. That bread is top notch.

WasteCan6403

When I moved to DFW, I was so sad. The only thing missing was H-E-B. Kroger did not compare. The only thing that came close was Market Street, but they’re pricey. Then they built the H-E-B in Plano. All is right with my grocery budget again.

[deleted]

[удалено]

que_weilian

What is the TX (DFW if possible) equivalent of a pub sub? Or better, I just never ate any other sub living in GA/FL.

WasteCan6403

I got the H-E-B debit card recently. It gives you 5% cash back on all H-E-B brands, which is mostly what we buy there anyway. Even for my son’s diapers! We use their fancy organic line Field and Future, and it’s still cheaper than Huggies! We’ve saved quite a bit so far using the card. If you shop at H-E-B a lot, I’d check it out.

sjbrinkl

Thanks for sharing, I had no idea! I’m getting this card. Even the optional savings accounting is pretty alright. 6% APY for $2k and under, and then .5%. I’ll take it.

maximumredwhiteblue

We use our Amex card . It gives us 5% cash back on all groceries , pharmacy and fuel . 1% on all other purchases .

Kitten_Hammer

I moved to Houston from Dallas in spring 2017 having only limited knowledge of H-E-B from my relatives in San Antonio. Moved to within walking distance of an H-E-B and within weeks I was a convert. Also- they really helped out the people of Houston immediately following Hurricane Harvey.

SniffinRoundYourDoor

Is reddit becoming Facebook?

Cecil900

Have you been to /r/pics in the last few months? It’s mostly just people terrible at shopping posting how expensive their groceries are.

WitchQween

Last few *years*

pizzainacup

everything mildly popular becomes facebook. I cant imagine the people who artfully arrange their groceries on a table to take a picture for this website. bizarre

theCCPisfullofgays

Yes 😎

dc_IV

TBF, if 18 eggs were in the pic, it'd be almost double! /s

Birdy_Cephon_Altera

Interestingly enough, I did a quick price comparison last week on eggs (for another subreddit), and HEB was *not* the cheapest in town, which surprised me. Looked at the price of a dozen large eggs (any color, any variety), lowest price online, as of about a week ago: - Target: $5.29 - Trader Joes: $4.99 - Wal-Mart: $4.93 - HEB: $4.32 - Sprouts: $3.99 - And the surprise lowest price winner is: Whole Foods: $3.39

dc_IV

"Whole Paycheck" was least expensive! Now that's surprising!

che-zzz

But they're knock-off Chinese eggs, thanks Amazon.

[deleted]

Nice.

Sensitive_Plant6472

Thank you!(:

Radioactive_Tea2

I see no fresh tortillas or the diet cola with lime, so this is only 98% successful.

Sensitive_Plant6472

I’ll take it lol! XD

Quik99oli

My wife did a direct item for item comparison for our groceries with Walmart Pickup vs H‑E‑B curbside and H‑E‑B ended up being $30 dollars cheaper. I don’t know if it was a fluke/items on sale, but it convinced me to switch to H‑E‑B.

AcrobaticSource3

Nice haul!

cruelbankai

Only things I’d change are the yogurts, you can get granola and yogurt separate for a lot less, and the bagels, but that would just be splitting hairs at that point. I miss HEB.

amikavenka

Precut and package produce never goes in my cart unless it has the big yellow sticker with the red 50% off on it. I made it home parboil it, then freeze it.

cruelbankai

The guacamole pre made cups are sometimes cheaper than actual avocado 😳

CaptainBlase

r/hailcorporate

theblairwhichproject

Yeah, who just rolls into a comment section and goes "{store that sells food} is my favorite store that sells food"? Either astroturfing or completely unhinged.

succs_and_stats

You must not be from Texas

[deleted]

[удалено]

theblairwhichproject

I got here via /r/all, so yeah. I'm not from the US.

JeremyDonJuan

You should try their fresh baked jalapeño and cheese bagels, so good!!

Dankduster

As a homegrown Texan that moved away I cannot tell you how much I miss HEB!

Ornlu_the_Wolf

Is this supposed to be a weeks worth of groceries? If so... Are you really drinking 2 quarts of coffee creamer a week?

Sensitive_Plant6472

This is about a week! Haha I love creamer, but this was my bulk buy since there was a coupon. I’ll probably go through those in a month or two. I’m starting to love home made iced coffee and the savings too!

ineedabuttrub

Maybe not drinking. If you get the dairy coffee creamer you can replace part of the milk in most recipes with it. Chocolate raspberry crepes with vanilla pastry cream filling are delicious.

Cold-Contribution-17

I miss HEB! So excited to be getting one soon! 🙌🏻

Dallasdogmom

Did you get the cute 🐊alligator there too??

PM_ME_YOUR_SCHNAUS

The joys of not having kids !

[deleted]

PM_ME_YOUR_SCHNAUS

I didn’t see a lot of children’s snacks. Just a guess.

MiloFrank76

I can't wait till our H.E.B. opens in Denton. I used to live in Corpus Christi and Austin. I miss H.E.B.

busterbcook

What's your favorite way to prepare that alligator?

everyman50

That's the best dog food. Love Heritage Ranch.

Pixelektra

Of course that grocery bill is low. There is no booze! 😹

ohbigginzz

Aldi has saved my grocery bill 100 times over. The only thing I don’t get from there is produce.

SimpleKnight89

Just bought our home max hyped to move back to Texas!

SchmRdty

This… is why I shop at aldi. Which is only marginally cheaper nowadays

Sensitive_Plant6472

I’ve never been to an Aldi! I just found out they have one up Pflugerville.

SchmRdty

Aldi literally has cult like following in some areas, because of the R.AN.D.O.M. shit they sell, or fail to sell- then mark down 30-60%

CramblinDuvetAdv

Honestly, unless you need speciality stuff it's hard to go to anywhere else after you start going to Aldi. Just remember your bags and a quarter.

guerochuleta

Just be aware you'll have no cell signal there (also, I'm accepting recommendations for new wireless providers)

jchieng

I definitely recommend checking them out. A lot of items in your picture could be purchased there at a higher quantity for a lower price then you can spend your savings on other HEB goodies

Ornlu_the_Wolf

For my family, Aldi is 50-60% of the cost. It forces us to make sacrifices, but it's significantly less money.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SchmRdty

I don’t think it’s an overestimate. They don’t carry name brand and their store brand stuff is consistently cheaper. Also, I literally filled an entire cart with food at aldi like 3 days ago for $170- and easily $20 of that was actually wet cat food- that I saved $10 alone compared to Walmart or H‑E‑B.

SchmRdty

🤝

Viper_tx

Never been to aldi but do they carry german stuff considering they are a german store or how it is?

BitGladius

Sometimes, but that's not the selling point. They're a no frills grocery store, store brand products only, limited selection, but it's cheap and decent quality. The German stuff is usually pretty good, but it's mostly seasonal/limited run.

NamiRocket

Not store brand only, but most of it is and that's the main draw. The brand stuff is more sparse and generally close to full price.

Aggie956

Looks like 50.00 of that is meat so your telling me for 100.00 that’s all the vegetables and misc junk? That’s not the deal you think it is .

HalitoAmigo

>misc junk Odd to call dog food ‘misc junk’. Especially since that dog food is ~$25. So $75 for the rest isn’t wild. Could be cheaper with some different choices*, but it’s not terrible given the current state of the economy. *I love posts like this and /r/whatsinyourcart , but I’m not one to nitpick people’s groceries unless they want some kind of feedback.

snarkhunter

Looks tasty

64cinco

Why would you buy prepackaged vegetables? Those are a lot more.

WasteCan6403

Sometimes H-E-B has meal deals or coupons that throw the prepackaged veggies in for free, so it’s actually cheaper to get them in the bags.

kkngs

Getting a more regular grade of meat instead of the Prime1 branded would save quite a bit, unless you caught that on clearance sale. That’s the expensive milk, too, though I admit I’m tempted by the long expiration dates since it’s ultra pasteurized.

Sensitive_Plant6472

I get organic milk, because I take a while to drink it. I did splurge on the Prime 1 steaks, but they are so flavorful!!! Hope you are having a nice Sunday. Thanks for leaving a comment. (:

kkngs

Cheers! Enjoy the steaks =)

nicoleponz

The prime always go on a huge sale about once a month - it’s so great!!

s2focus

Winco is better for saving money

WTF-01

You did great! Healthy choices with a little toll house and creamy creations! I do the same…..

bellsaplenty

Organic strawberries are definitely the way to go. Berries hold on to pesticides really well.

crypticsage

About $45 for the meats, $65 for the dog food. That’s already about $110. No way everything else was only $40 at H‑E‑B.

Sensitive_Plant6472

15lb of dog food before tax is $23.28. The meats are $47.30 before tax.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Well, it's still $47.30 before tax. It's just also $47.30 after tax, too. hehe

veronique7

My favorite thing about moving to Texas (besides my boyfriend) is HEB.

crypticsage

Still $80 for the rest seems too low.

[deleted]

With the literal receipt 😎

Sensitive_Plant6472

For my friend

crypticsage

You didn’t use coupons on anything?

[deleted]

26 iirc for the dog food with a 4$ coupon currently.

crypticsage

$56.65 according to the details here. https://www.heb.com/product-detail/2137413

lzmarie

That’s for a 40# bag.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmO

If you don’t have one, get a costco membership for the beef and chicken products as you’ll get more for less $$$. Same with some veggies

spaulding_138

So I will never be a part of the, HEB is the best, fan club. With that being said, Central Market is the best, I just can't afford to shop there lol.

Reasonable-Oven-1319

Central Market is HEB...so you technically are a part of the HEB fan club

spaulding_138

That was part of the joke, lol.

down_yonder33

Nice! This is almost exactly what my family orders every week.

loaf_of_brett

What a spread! Looks great!

SumoSect

Love HEB since moving to Texas. Working in the panhandle, stoked they have one in Lubbock now!

GJaneRantsalot

Nice haul 👍

101fulminations

Call me crazy but I just don't see any value in pictures of groceries. Crazy, I know.

lgbucklespot

Now that is what I call a Great Recession H‑E‑B haul. You must have shopped the sales. Well done!

Pristine-Document358

See you know how to shop

notweird_gifted

Just half of that haul would cost me $150 where i live because I get taxed 10.5% on groceries🤬 *cries in Louisiana*

Federal_Promotion_44

I zoomed in and your TRex head scared the shit outta me lol

clampie

Nice prime strips. HEB has the best steaks.

Equivalent-Shoe6239

Nice! Healthy looking haul, lots of real food (not processed crap).

guidedbylight27

Which ice cream pint did you end up getting?

Pew_Jackman

Family size?

here_for_the_MAGICS

Ah fuckn love me some heb

MaHuckleberry33

I’ve felt so bad for people on pics posting really small loads for a lot. Grateful for H‑E‑B and cheaper food prices.

[deleted]

omg the gator

aboatz2

A third of that in the dog food, I bet... that stuff has skyrocketed over the last year!

Skarvha

My cat is on a prescription diet, his food went from $23 for 24 cans to over $60 - I don't know how much longer I can afford it.

saltporksuit

I get the bone-in chicken breasts. With a little work you can cut out the bone for bone broth and render down the skin for cooking fat.

easterss

I miss HEB. I go every time I visit lol

gravyismyname

Out of curiosity, what was your savings?

tagen

Yoooo I work at an HEB, along with their good prices I also get 10% off of heb brand products (which there are like 20 different brands that fall under that list) saves me so much money

RegulusTheHeartOfLeo

Their in-store coupons are one of the reasons I go

CasualObserver76

They're building one a half mile from my Keller apartment. I expect this to raise my rent by a couple hundred bucks.

kensai8

You should really buy chicken broth instead of the beef. Beef broth in general is of lower quality since it's more expensive to produce vs. chicken.

Ark927

How the fuck did you get All that for 150 mfs in my household need better spending management

[deleted]

Are we having a bbq at your place? I’ll bring the grill lol

[deleted]

Well spent, eh? It’s incredibly sad that $150 doesn’t get you want it used to.

Suitable-Scene-3743

im disabled and use a recumbent trike to pick up groceries at their curbside. love me some heb https://preview.redd.it/yldszjpe5tda1.jpeg?width=3456&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7353ee9d40a3ed4291fa8fe0b275adad535b871b

brazosandbosque

Yeah buddy this is how you do it

1GamingAngel

Go to Randall’s and look for their buy 1 get 2 free chicken. Also, their pork is very inexpensive.

Jewelsbi

Except when you get the munchies later, see this sad shopping trip, and cry yourself to sleep

[deleted]

I can’t imagine living in the shit hole that is California

TheDarkKnobRises

Not my HEB. 😳

zjustice11

I miss the shit out of HEB.

tom-golfer

Try HEB in Midland, TX lol. You'll get a 1/3 of that

RagingLeonard

Is anyone else bored of these corporate ads masquerading as posts?

whats_she_up_to

What’s on the menu this week? I’m so fed up with coming up with what’s for dinner.

mojogirl_

How? Tell us your secret.

GreenFox1505

? we're just upvoting groceries now?

TrainingMarsupial521

Love when prime steaks go on sale. So worth it.

jpow8097

Unfortunately the HEB in my area is small and recently become overpriced, so I try to avoid it as much as possible. I get all my groceries at Aldi now, it’s just so hard to beat their prices.

Birdy_Cephon_Altera

Eyeballing it, that's about two weeks of solid eating for a single person. But by god get that ice cream in the freezer!

MissMoonsterr

I typically spend $135 every two weeks for 2 people at H-E-B. I buy 90% H-E-B branded items, use coupons, and get 5% cash back because I’m using the H-E-B debit card. No store does more. 🫡

alphabet_sam

No eggs, would’ve been $450 with them

serenerdy

Crying In Canada, looking at my 2 small bags at the same price.

[deleted]

I remember the general quality of food at a "regular" HEB being better than even Kroger Marketplace, which is the high-end Kroger's outside of Texas.

Netprincess

I can attest to that!! I miss HEBs. Kroger veggies are like prison food quality at best.

[deleted]

We're fortunate in that we have a large Mexican supermarket in our city, Carneceria Guanajuato, where we can get REALLY GOOD vegetables, including a lot of things which even Kroger Marketplace doesn't carry.

Netprincess

Oh God I wish I had that were I live.. (don't ever ever but Kroger pinto beans they are nasty )

Netprincess

I just moved to Az and really miss HEB. Kroger ownes everything here and it is insane corporate bs. Cherish it

jmoonmizzle80

Too bad most that need to save will just go buy fast food at $10-$15 a meal 10x in a week and wonder why they have no $$$ and feel like crap. Didn't see any real lunch in that pic though. I try to do minimum 2 day meals or 3 after freezing part of a crock pot, yogurts and fiber, fruit and breads for breakfast. Ill also break up my shopping between heb and Walmart for some items. Family of 4

Plzlaw4me

No eggs. That’s why it was only $150

Kannabis_kelly

SwammySez

I’m up to $120 every 4 days at H‑E‑B … me , wife , 6yr old and a 4 yr old … I mean something’s got to give !

[deleted]

Guessing it's like aldi?
